America the Right Way (The Weekend Edition)-Staying Vigilant-21 months left May 7-8, 2011 -Remember 9/11

The Mississippi River is rising and threatening home in Memphis. Prayers for the residents in that state and other states with flooding rain.

Rep. Allen West thinks all mometary aid being given to Pakistan should stop. Thoughts?

It’s Derby Day Saturday. May the best horse or hat win.

    Morning Quote:

President Barack Obama is in point of fact a trainee President with virtually no practical life skills, woefully inadequate inexperience, precious little in the way of a proper aptitude for governance, and – most annoying – an inherent unwillingness to change any of the above, or in fact partake in any sort of internal program of either self-discovery, or self-improvement.

  2. Prairie says:

    Good night all.

    • Jemian says:

And good night to you, sweet one. I am set up here at the Wycliffe Center in Orlando, FL. I am not a good traveler at all. But we are here until we move along again.

It is good to arrive at the destination safely.

Speaking of dogs, on the way down I watched a delightful little movie called A Dog’s Year. My daughter’s border collie, Asa, is very inventive and energetic and bouncy and joy. The dog in the movie is very much like Asa.

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    Happy Mother’s Day ladies!!

  4. The Raven says:

When I was much younger….I picked the Derby day winner by simply watching the way the horses walked on their way to the gate. Not sure what it was…just a gut feel, but I had ten straight correct calls that way including some long shots and my family began urging me to put money on my picks. So year 11 – off I went to OTB with a hope they’d have the “walk” on the TV in the OTB waiting room. Not only did they not have the walk…they didn’t have the race. They didn’t have out-of-state racing. I came home and picked the horse the old fashioned way and I lost. I’ve been losing ever since (yesterday makes umptee ump straight losses)

But back to the libs. You know, George Will is 70 this week. I read his bio on Wikipedia and it was written by libs. It has nothing about Conservatism….only where he disagrees with Republicans. He didn’t like Nixon…he disagreed with Bush…he disagreed with Palin…..etc.

    What garbage.

And George WIll lived in DC too long. He should have moved to Greenwich like Buckley

    • Jemian says:

      Good morning! Happy mother’s day!

Rave, last year I did the research, I studied the contenders, jockeys and trainers. IIRC, my pics did rather well. But this year, for whatever reason, just wasn’t all that interested . About half and hour before post time, while watching the TV, I made the decision to back Animal Kingdom based on the jockey. No one else here picked him.

      HA! Never doubt me.

    • lysie says:

Mom picked winners the way you did, Rav, by the way they walked or looked. She beat day all the time.

    • The Raven says:

      >>NEENER, NEENER, BOO, BOO!

Jemian–I always pictured you over there in the jungles of Asia as a Mother Teresa type — living a simple life. Now that’s all shattered.

    G’day, all

Just concluding a very intense work week (Saturday 6pm!) maybe catch a few zzz’s.

One advantage of being overwhelmed with work is not keeping up what’s going on outside, no politics, no nothing. A little break now and then is a good thing.

So sorry for those affected by flooding along the Mighty Mississippi, those still recovering fro the tornadoes. Hope all here are well.

  6. Prairie says:

Good afternoon everybody. Hope all are doing well, I’ve been puttering around with little projects this morning, had a brief excursion to Wally World.

Mr. Prairie has given me a subscription to the WSJ for Mothers Day…guess I’ll head over and read some.

  7. 4littlebears says:

  8. queenie says:

    Good morning.

Thanks for the start and nice breakfast, lysie.
Did you do fish last night?

Supposed to rain all day today. We need it, so it’s a good thing.

    • lysie says:

Good morning, quennie. Last night we went to a local fish place and brought the take out fish home.

I just got back in from doing chores and stopped by the fish pond. It’s amazing when I think that we have had some of the goldfish and Koi for over 15 years.

We will be going to a Relay for Life benefit today. Many of the bands that we enjoy will be entertaining the people. Before going we will get another load of mulch.

  9. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • lysie says:

Rav, to answer your question about Ivan Nova, the Rookie pitched well last night, didn’t he?

    • Jemian says:

SHOOT YES, STOP ALL FOREIGN AID IMMEDIATELY TO PAKISTAN. FREEZE ANY PAKI ACCOUNTS IN THE USA. We should do everything but declare war on them. I am really mad.

NUKE ‘EM ‘TIL THEY GLOW AND THEN SHOT ‘EM IN THE DARK!

    • The Raven says:

      I can’t watch the Yanks—they lose if I do

    • mustknowhistory says:

      Yummy breakfast.

With all the talk of the royal wedding, I decided rewatch the movie Chariots of Fire. Found a video at the local library.

Lovely film and inspiring story of the Scots runner and missionary, Eric Liddell. Beautiful rendition of the British hymn, Jerusalem, at then end of the movie. Also makes me appreciate western civilization all the more.
