Hello!

President 0 arrived in Joplin, MO today like he was there to save the day! My gosh, how did those poor people make it all thru last week, without his help??!!

R and Dems are invited to the White House…to the Great One’s presence…to confront the budget deadlock. Let’s see…who will get the blame for this mess?

Senate Dems, who haven’t produced their own budget??

The President himself, whose budget received not a single vote in the Senate last week?

I’m going to make a crazy guess, and say the Rs and greedy, ill-defined special interests will bear the brunt of the President’s bullying comments.

  1. Nita says:

John Edwards. Finally indicted. Will wonders never cease?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Apparently the Feds went thru every aspect of his finances and life. Hoping therefore they have a strong case.

Here’s an idea ( in response to the widely reported jobs report):

0 needs to be retired next year…..so he can go play golf every day, all day, & the rest of us can revive the economy without his “help”.

    • Nita says:

I wish he would go. Things have gone from bad to worse under his regime.

    • lysie says:

      TGIF!!

Since Rav has a new boat, I thought we’d take a ride. Woohoo!!

    • lysie says:

Let’s fire him and have him see how hard it is living off his own salary. Oh, wait. He will probably be offered $$$ for an autobiograhy or movie. Blech!

    • The Raven says:

On the boat all day—-no time to party

Blew about $100 in gas…..went from Concord Park to Morganton TN and back – nice view of the SMokies

    • lysie says:

Did you catch any fish? Do you have sea legs? Are you tired? Aside from the $100.00 did you have fun? πŸ˜‰

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Cool boat, Raven πŸ™‚

Now every time you use it on that lake down there….do you thank FDR?? (Couldn’t resist…sorry!

Just realize…every time I enjoy the Valley & the park there, I have to thank John Seiberling (lib Dem, now deceased)

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Nita says:

Yummy, oh so yummy looking breakfast.

Had a good yield out of the strawberry patch this week.

Hope you are all doing well.

Molly, good luck with that cold. We went from 90 degrees on Wed down to 55 at night and 40 mph winds. Chilly to me.

    • lysie says:

      Yum! Strawberries. Good morning.
There was a frost watch earlier this morning. I don’t think we got frost, though.

    • Jemian says:

Frost? I cannot imagine. We have been hitting close to 100°F the last several days and today won’t be any different. We’re heading over to Mississippi in a few minutes. Won’t be getting to the Gulf, however, so won’t be meeting Toby. We’ll be touring Mississippi State with a good friend.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Hey there!

Yes, Nita we had that drop in temps too…

the sky/air was so clear yesterday! It reminded me of some very nice weather we had on that June trip to upstate NY a few years ago.

lysie…I’d like to start the thread tomorrow, ok?

    • lysie says:

Molly, yes you may. Thank you.

    • lysie says:

      Have a nice trip, Jem.

    • Nita says:

Hope you guys have good plans for the weekend. Weather should be nice.

I have a party tonite that I am trying not to talk myself out of going to, T-Ball in the morning and then maybe some house things to declutter the domain.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

declutter the domain That’s a good phrase!

Very good…will start the thread tomorrow – Sat….

  3. Prairie says:

Tired after a travel day. Good night all.

  4. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Jemian says:

      Thank you for breakfast.

I turned off Fox N Friends when I thought I heard them say they will post the congressman’s infamous picture. Nope! Not interested at all.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

AAACK for Fox News, NOT your breakfast lysie

Woke up fighting a cold, and the temps have dropped too outside.

Jemian how’re your plans going for your return to the field?

    • Jemian says:

We still have about an $7500 one-time need but other than that, we’re good. We have a major trip to Mississippi this weekend, speaking in three different places. Hubby heads to Mississippi in July to speak at another place.

I need to firm up a date to get out to California. Thanks for the reminder; I’ve been meaning to get to it all week.

Having said that, the actual answer is: I’m not sure of a return date. It takes (now) two months to process visas. Further, the Army has changed the orders for the youngest’s fiance and so they may be able to marry on New Year’s Eve. Throw into the scheduling mix the advent of Piper Noelle and ~ ta da! happened yesterday! ~ Lion’s Daughter being readmitted to Auburn and hopefully will graduate in December. After she did announce her readmittance, I did yell at her, a little, about her lousy study habits, bad time management and how this all had been terribly expensive. I really haven’t been blount with her about this, but my goodness, she turned 27 yesterday and it really is she got on with life! Past time!

I don’t quite understand what has happened to bring about such a delay and as a mom I’m not sure how to urge and push without bruising. Anyway, it looks like she is moving in the right direction again and so this autumn may be a full of milestones in our family. If they would all go through and get it done now, perhaps we could stay overseas longer with just a few visits in the summers to the states and not real “furloughs” at all.

Long answer. But nothing seems to ever be simple.

    • lysie says:

I fear we are all being set up.

      Think about it………..

I can hear a lib congress critter now, ‘ No one should have to experience what my good friend Senator Weiner is experiencing. That is why we must pass legislation to monitor such things on the internet…yada, yada, yada.’

Then, all that will be monitored is Rush, Mark, Glenn, Sean and others.
      I hope I’m wrong.

    • lysie says:

      Beat that cold, Molly!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Wow Jemian lots of news in that answer. I just can’t believe LD is 27! now for one thing…

my ears are still hurting…a little more energy today…not much tho..

  5. Molly Pitcher says:

    Good morning..

Oh my…we’ve had 2 women die in the Cuyahoga R. the past week..1 falling in & breaking her neck, and the other going wading in the swift waters and being swept away in the high , swift waters.

  6. Prairie says:

Good afternoon everybody, watching the markets today was ridiculous. Apparently very poor manufacturing data out and also the banks aren’t thinking that things are picking up either.

If it didn’t impact so many folks so negatively, I’d celebrate, because this is coming squarely home to roost at Obama’s feet.

  7. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  8. The Raven says:

    Lysie…it is the second one

    • Prairie says:

Minority Report is our reality. Geeeze…

    • lysie says:

The report states, ” In lab tests, the DHS has claimed accuracy rates of around 70%”

70%? It infringes on people’s rights and it’s only 70% accurate?

Hear that constant drip, drip, drip? That’s the sound of our rights going down the drain.

  9. Molly Pitcher says:

    Good morning!

    July temps have arrived early!

  10. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  11. The Raven says:

the Constitution. Article 1, Section 5 says β€œNeither House, during the session of Congress, shall, without the consent of the other, adjourn for more than three days[.]”. This means that without the consent of the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, the Senate cannot adjourn for more than three days, and thus President Obama cannot make any recess appointments.

On Wednesday, 20 Senators led by David Vitter and Jim DeMint wrote a letter to Speaker Boehner asking him to use his authority under Article 1, Section 5 to block the recess appointments

    Boehner to the rescue

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      We can hope…

    • Jemian says:

Thank you, Raven, and you, Molly, for your links. I found the talk show ratings scandal interesting.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, me too…wonder how much Limbaugh, et al will talk about it??

    • Jemian says:

I’m pretty sure he will because it will be all about HIM. However, if he reads this site, as he did the ATRW on FR, he may avoid it until tomorrow. LOL!

FWIW, I read somewhere today that the reason Caligula doesn’t visit national memorials and battlefield sites is that there aren’t many with golf courses and ice cream stands.

Way to go Boehner! Let’s hope he continues to stand strong. That would be a welcome change indeed.

  12. The Raven says:

Help!! The boat has a plastic battery holder and a strap to keep it snug to the floor The strap has a clasp that is two rectangles with “teeth” attached to one end…the other end is free and needs to be somehow thread into these two rectangles. Three of us couldn’t figure it out and all of us ran into it before. I didn’t even know how to google it

  13. lysie says:

    ed,
    Rolling Thunder pics.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Looks like a good vantage point to see the bikers.

Been in and out all day long…making major progress on the garden beds…a couple are usually pretty easy…the others…not so much…maybe I need to use more mulch in the fall??

Okay, bird question: heard one I just dont think I’ve heard before: very simple call… 4 notes, repeated over and over…B flat, A flat…. then…G, F…just like that…any ideas??

      Glad you found Terri, lysie

Heard a nice tribute on the radio to Dick Winters of “Band of Brothers” fame

    • lysie says:

Molly, I wish I could help you identify the bird call, however , I wouldn’t know a B flat from a tire flat. πŸ˜‰
I was a youngster who played clarinet in the elementary band for several months before Mr. Swierzek said, ‘ Lysie, you don’t know how to read music, do you!??’ I was good at memorizing and played by ear.

      Bit, I offered a straight-line for you. Give it a punch. πŸ˜‰

    • The Raven says:

Ahhh yes, Prez primary time again. By the time it gets around to TN, however, it’s all been decided. I get to vote “none of the above”

    • Bitwhacker says:

So the conductor says to the clarinetist, ‘You play by ear??? But you do know you should be using your fingers, right?’

      πŸ˜‰

    • lysie says:

      Bit, thanks for the punchline.

BTW, Greg loves his laptop. Thanks for suggesting it. Greg said, ” I love my truck. I love my computer and I love my sweetie. I almost asked him, what sweetie? πŸ˜‰

  14. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

ed, I will post the Rolling Thunder pics later today.

Right now, we have a problem that needs to be solved.

    • mustknowhistory says:

      Thanks for the lovely breakfast.

That sounds ominous..problem that needs to be resolved. Hope it is not too stressful.

    • lysie says:

mkh, it started out a scary morning. I could not find our dog Terri. I knew she was in the house when I went to sleep, but John came to visit Sarah after that and I thought she sneaked outside. Come to find out she was terrified of the t’storms and was hiding under Sarah’s bed. The door must have slammed shut during the night with the high winds.

      She’s being spoiled today. πŸ˜‰

I have a cat that occasionally goes “missing”. She knows where she is; I am the one who is clueless.
