America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant-18 months left Aug. 27-28, 2011(Weekend Edition) -Remember 9/11

Everyone in the path of Irene stay safe. I pray she fizzles out and is not what many believe.

Today I’ll be bottling up some water, just in case. We have plenty of canned foods.

Off to the 25th wedding anniversary party for our friends Barb and George. He is part of the Monday night band. Barb will surprise him with a “renew their vows” ceremony. I can’t wait to see the look on his face. Ha!

  2. lysie says:

    Great links, Molly. Thank you.

How deprived are these people, anyway? Do they have cell phones, laptops, body piercings, all over body tatoos?

Using their standards perhaps, when I was younger I was deprived because I didn’t have a slinky or a Tiny Tears doll. (kidding)

These people should learn to appreciate what they do have. They seem to confuse true necessity with desire.

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  4. Prairie says:

Good morning everybody, checking in on this weekend thread. I see where Obama made a big production out of showing up at FEMA headquarters and acting like he was in charge. Pffft!

We’ve had guest for the past few days and it’s been great to see them. Fortunately for them we’ve seen a lot of deer and elk on our dusk drives, they were thrilled.

Off to church later this morning, This is the day that the Lord has made…..let us rejoice and be glad in it!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Very good! You had some diversion from the Irene mess, then.

      Hurricane morphing into a nor’easter

    • lysie says:

Prairie, being the lady that I am, (thank you kachina) I will refrain from saying what I think of Obama’s photo-op at FEMA. I’ll just say that the only thing he is knowledgeable in is hot air and windbag.

The comments at the Yahoo site were not at all favorable to 0. When you have lost the Yahoo crowd..

In other news, areas west of Boston are now getting hard hit. One son has lost power when a tree limb fell across their line and then into the street. The good news is that the utility company is already there, although when power will be restored is anyone’s guess.

    • mustknowhistory says:

Legal Insurrection has also picked up on this:

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Oh, those links are good!

So the tree missed the house?

Bit would sure like to hear from you , drenched tho you probably are.

    • Bitwhacker says:

Hope everyone is havening a great Sunday.

I am sooo disgusted at the local TV stations. They hyped this thing into such a frenzy that people were taping windows and boarding up even way inland where I am. Then, when the actual storm hit last night, nothing, except the usual flooding in all the usual places, with a little power loss in places but for hours at a time, not days like they said it would be.

The most disgusting of the whole ordeal was the stores. Right up until Sat night people were crowding the supermarkets buying everything is sight. I actually needed to get a few things but when I tried, the lots were full and the lines were awful. So I just went home and found all kinds of things I forgot I had on hand in the freezer and the pantry.

So for me where I live, no problem so far. πŸ˜‰

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Well, ok! It’s hard to tell what’s exactly going on where, that’s for sure.

I do think that this may have been an important exercise in some emergency plans and experience.

And what was going on with the weather in the rest of the country while this was going on??!! πŸ˜‰

As of 6p, last I heard was 500K in VA alone without power. That’s the Tidewater area into Richmond. Not yet in Northern VA. Drizzle started around 12:30p, first gust @ 2:30p, then both have been on and off with heavy rain, regular rain, strong winds, then nothing. A child in the Tidewater was killed when a tree fell on the 2nd floor apartment.where he lived. Strong wind now. Bye

  6. tillacum says:

Please everyone on the east coast, stay safe and stay prepared. We’re watching Irene, she looks like a bad one.

  7. Not gonna take it anymore says:

For those of you on the east coast, please be careful. Prayers up.

  8. Not gonna take it anymore says:

    Good morning all.

    • lysie says:

Good morning Not, till and queenie. My prayers are right along with yours.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

not, till, queenie, ALL good morning.

Looks like the sand is undergoing some serious rearrangement at those NC beaches
I keep thinking about Norfolk..s.e. VA…the Tidewater area..low, low, low.

But the rain should finally put out the fire in the Dismal Swamp area, so that’s good.

  9. lysie says:

    You are welcome.
Our tv will be on the weather for most of the day.

  10. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thanks lysie…just turned on TWC, and Nags Head, live, is being covered..looks awful

Last night I was thinking of you ED: there was coverage of prep in Alexandria.

    • queenie says:

      Good morning. Thanks, lysie…….
Thoughts and prayers are with you all on the East coast. ED: Stay safe!
Friend in Raleigh area emailed an hour ago and said large Crepe Myrtle was bent over by half. Very windy there.

    • tillacum says:
