    New Week’s thread

I’ll catch up with reading the past few days tomorrow…been a long day here.

Hope everyone is well and safe, if not snow-free…

Good Sunday evening, all. I’m late to the party! Even late for lysie’s breakfast.

We got just a dusting of that snow. Saturday morning was pouring rain (fortunately NOT snow), turned to freezing rain, then snow, but not enough to accumulate. Dodged that one! Last winter every big storm they warned about moved about 20 miles East of us, so we had virtually nothing all season. Praying for a repeat!

Think I previously mentioned we have elections every year in VA, this year it’s state legislature and local jurisdiction govts/school boards, etc. GOP is looking to pick up some seats. Our VA GOP chairman posted one ad mailed out by a D running for state senate that was absolutely beyond the pale. Shows a woman laying on a doc table, clad in hospital gown, feet in stirrups, awaiting an abortion … then the ‘message’ “This is bad enough without extremist Dick Black involved!” Plumbing new depths. But that’s what we’re up against.

On a cheerier note, last night we went to see the Alexandria Choral Society perform Berliner Messe – Magnificat and a selection of sacred works. Incredible performance, especially for an all volunteer group. Now we await an ACLU suit since they DO get some, minor public funding from the City and State.

Good evening, ed. There’s no time limit here. Parties and breakfasts are all day long…non-stop. 😉

The ad you mentioned sickens me.

Glad you didn’t get hit with a lot of snow, ed. My bro in Freeport, Maine got six inches and lost power during the night. Church was even canceled. They have power now, plus a very cute snowman in the yard that grans put together with Grandpa’s help.

      Jemian: Go Dawgs!
The Raven: Wish TN had beat SC!!!

    • lysie says:

Good evening, queenie. We didn’t get any snow…not that I’m bragging. Our day will come.

After reading that Powerline article about Michele Obama , I am convinced she need lessons on how to be a lady, as well as, a First Lady.

  4. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  5. The Raven says:

Jem–that football division you’re in is amazing. Auburn is in 4th place and you are nationally ranked.

Bill Clinton: No Successful Country in the World Thinks Government is the Problem
The Raven: That’s because they have small governments

  7. Bitwhacker says:

Well, it started here before nine as heavy rain, then it got colder, and by 9:15 it had turned to the heaviest, wettest snow I had ever seen. But it wasn’t laying yet, so I went to the store, which was relatively empty. But by 10:30, the snow was really coming down and it was starting to lay on the ground, and the harder it snowed, the more people started arriving at the store. I made it out before the parking lot filled up.

Then it snowed like that until about 14 minutes ago, when it turned back to light rain and now it isn’t doing anything at the moment…;-)

This will be an ugly, ugly campaign.

    • tillacum says:

I think you’re right, and the ugly will be between the Republicans. I understand the dems are sending out miss-shell to lay ugly groundwork for the dems to carry on.

  9. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.
