America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- February 18, 2013- February 22 , 2013 Remember 9/11

Reading the political news, I’m struck – happily struck – by how much of 0’s SOTU agenda seems to be controversial: The pre-K program, immigration “reform”, gun control…

Cost concerns, R opposition, opposition from some red state Dems are factors.

But of course there’s much to be determined…

    Morning quote:
Under the Permanent Campaign Shimmy, the president identifies a problem. Then he declines to come up with a proposal to address the problem. Then he comes up with a vague-but-politically-convenient concept that doesn’t address the problem (let’s raise taxes on the rich). Then he goes around the country blasting the opposition for not having as politically popular a concept. Then he returns to Washington and congratulates himself for being the only serious and substantive person in town.

    Thanks for the links, Molly.

We have another appointment with our financial advisor. I think I’ll print the American Thinker article about the government stealing retirement funds and show him.

    Very upsetting.

  3. lysie says:

    HighHi-tech, Molly. 🙂

  4. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

Just booked a mini-vacation over Spring Break……wanted to go somewhere we haven’t been before ….and preferred New Zealand…..but couldn’t find a freq.flyer flight available… after reading that Budapest is the most beautiful city in Europe…….decided to check it out.

  6. lysie says:

    Thanks for the links, Molly.

Hello! Today’s meditation was from a passage in Isaiah, “Woe to those who call evil good and good, evil.” A stern warning for our times.

Rave, I’m glad your pup is doing better. My philosophy is that if you can’t catch ’em, they’re not that sick.

The Iron Dog is in the last two days. I’ve been trying to stay informed but not being successful. I can confirm that it is in Alaska where there is ice and snow.

No snow and ice here. Nice sunny twelve hour days. But the sun is headed north so you will be warming up. Winter is fleeing.

    • lysie says:

Hi, Jem. Thanks for the Iron Dog update.

  9. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Ole man winter keeps hitting. We have another 6-7 inches with more coming. Six miles north of us has much more. I guess I should be happy, but I’m not. 😉 Blah!

  10. The Raven says:

Lysie…do you get NYC new at your location. ?? Did you watch CBS??
On another note…..the dog is running around like a Spring chicken tonight…….looks like he may not be as bad as we thought.

    • lysie says:

Woohoo. Give your pup a hug and pat from me.

No we don’t get NYC news. What is it with people and their uncontrolable anger? I was taught to walk away from a tense situation while counting to 10.

Molly I loved that article about the pizzeria, LOL! I’d patronize the place on a weekly basis.

    Here’s some hopeful news….

  14. The Raven says:

My poor lab was limping when I came home. I took him to the vet and he’s got a torn ACL ligament and needs an orthopedic vet to the tune of at least $2499 plus rehab

No idea how he injured himself

Good Morning All….Off to Waco and the VA. Hubby’s semi-annual physical.

    • lysie says:

Any other plans when there? Good eats?

    • tillacum says:

We had breakfast. It’s a new cute, well lit, great service cafe. Hubby had his usual eggs, ham, etc. I tried their ONE hotcake. It overlapped my plate. It was very good. It reminded me of Swedish pancakes we used to get in Alaska and Seattle. They were more like heavy crepes and out of this world. They too covered the plate. This one this morning was made with grains, And great bacon…I ama bacon freak…I love BACON.

  19. Prairie says:

Let’s All Sail on the ‘Ted Cruz’ Ship from Texas

The Senate has become a gentleman’s club with most Republicans serving meals and drinks to the Democrats hoping for a few tips at the end of the day. All they get is the back of their political hand.

    That’s gonna leave a mark.

    • tillacum says:

Sounds like the ninnie republicans do not care for a true conservative Republican in their midst. It must be a haughty feeling one gets when voted into the leadership position, then have a Real Republican not go along to get along must be frustrating to the point of leaking information about the “upstart”.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, especially since it’s so true…..and been like that for years.

  20. Prairie says:

Good evening everybody! I’m glad to finally be checking in, I’ve missed you. The “cold” that I caught from Mr. Prairie last week took a turn for the worse….or developed into influenza although I had no muscle aches or fever…..and I’ve been quite lousy for nearly a week. Symptoms are much better, though. Sheesh.

Anyway, thanks for the links and threads and contributions everybody. I always appreciate reading them.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Missed you prairie, too…keep feeling better, ok? No muscle aches? When I had the flu, I was TORTURED by them…Glad you didn’t have to deal with them.,

    • Prairie says:

The “Gangsterville” article is quite good Molly. Always good to read about Chi-town and be grateful for the millionth time to be OUTTA there!

No, I had no fever or mucle aches although Mr. Prairie had both. I really thought I was just getting a mild version of what he had. Then it whammed me up-side the head. Nasty sinus symptoms and felt like I’d been hit by a truck. I’m still not “well” in the strictest sense.

  21. lysie says:

Off for Monday music, folks. Have a good evening.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thanks lysie….Ben Carson’s going to be on Bennett’s show in a few minutes.

      Good morning everyone!

    • queenie says:

      Good morning.
Please let us know what you thought of Ben Carson on the Bennett Show, Molly. So far, I’m thinking we need a whole lot more like him.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

He was very modest and calm…commensensical. He replied to several callers with their “thank yous” that way…saying he appreciated them so much & was used to making speeches and such, but the requests had quadrupled since the Prayer breakfast. He was able to deal with it all, tho cause his “handler” was God.

He repeated a couple of the Prayer Breakfast stories.

I’m going to go back and listen to the 30 minutes or so again.

    • queenie says:

Thanks for the report, Molly. Just hope he has no skeletons in his closet if he wants to run for office. Suppose the media will dump on him anyway. Guess we can count on that.

  24. The Raven says:

Yes……all enumerated federal powers? well maybe immigration.
