America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- April 8- April 12, 2013 Remember 9/11

The President delivers his budget to Congress this week. Finally. So Woop-de-do! He’s also warning the Rs not to take a “their way or the highway” approach. Well, he should certainly know about that option.

And Congress? What is it up to? It returns to face and figure out immigration and gun control. Those are the biggies: bills designed to solve a couple of problems, but more likely to create miriad others. You can count on it.

  1. Jemian says:

Good Saturday morning! The sun is shinning, the birds are singing, it is raining and the dog doesn’t want to go for a walk. Hubby came home from work and went to be early and slept for 11.5 hours. I had a stressful day because one of my students got an F on his report card and I had a parent meeting to discuss things. Then, I went from that to another meeting with middle school teachers to learn about OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) as we have a student coming into the middle school which has this disorder. A change in work will happen for next year. I agreed to take over grade 6 Bible, L.A., and social studies. Then, the science teacher was complaining about his work load so I offered to take science as well. That has to be approved by the admin, but it means, basically, that I will have my old job back. Now, where did I stow those old lesson plans. A little tweaking of the date and I’m good to go.

Both my sons are at their duty stations by now.

Why Gosnell’s trial should be a front page story The Atlantic…thank goodness for another article…this writer credits Kirsten Powers’s column

  3. Molly Pitcher says:

The Forbes link above: excellent on Thatcher…many great quotes..

  4. The Raven says:

The better half and I are off to a concert tonight. Temptations and the Four Tops.

I saw them in the late 80’s in Manhatten when most of the original group members were still there……so here we go….it’s Friday…….

    Yeah you………..
    Here they are….the

    T N T

    The Temps and the Tops.

  5. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  6. The Raven says:

I’d like to start a web site…”Is your elected official dumb?” – something like AA’s “Are you an alcoholic?”
    Maybe this

    – Check off any 3 and you have a dummy

    – Believes Hurricane Sandy was due to Global Warming
    – Believes in Keynesian (stimulus) economics
    – Doesn’t care about deficit spending

    … and so on

    • lysie says:

      Believes it’s Bush’s fault.
Believes must pass the new law to see what’s in it.
Believes Thomas Sowell, Jonathon Elder, Walter Williams , Ben Carson are Uncle Toms.

Help Rav and me out , folks.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Believes the gov’t. spends your money better than you do.
Thinks gov’t spending makes the economy grow, not private investment

Thinks the gov’t. can raise your children with the “proper” values

    • The Raven says:

      Eisenhower started Vietnam
You can infringe on the right to bear arms if you word it correctly.
      Free markets are bad
      Free people are bad
      Tax the rich

    • lysie says:

      Believes there are 57 states.
Believes they can cut our military funds despite the threats.
Believes that anyone who oppose their views is stupid.

  7. Prairie says:

Good afternoon everybody. Thanks for all the links and fellowship. I see that Bret Baier is featuring the Gosnell trial on his show tonight. I’m trying as best I can to spread the word about what is going on. Piss on the media.

Beautiful day here, actually cool today. That’ll change……

  8. lysie says:

Kirsten Powers article….hard to read. *sigh* So sad.

Rainy, dreary-ish day with much heavier rain headed our way. The grass will be greener and the spring flowers will be happier.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I sure hope you don’t get any of that snow/ice that may move into your area or near by….

Lovely pic…A friend who does embroidery gave me a dish towel the other day…on it were embroidered tulips just like the ones in the photo

  9. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  10. Jemian says:

Good evening. I just checked the seismic activity. There have been no weirdness recorded pertaining to NoKo. Just what does he want anyway?

  11. lysie says:

    Need a laugh??

    The nothing box.

    Oh! I can relate. LOL

    • Jemian says:

I would like a nothing box. I had a day off yesterday. Wonderful! Then, serendipitously, some friends who had worked here in ’95 dropped in. That was so neat. We get to decide if we want to move to a house or stay in this apartment here on campus. There are positives and negatives about both.

      No news is good news.

    • lysie says:

Hi Jem. So happy to hear you had a pleasant day. May you have many more.

  12. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. There is a noticeable color change in the grass…less brown, more green. Blame climate change.

  13. Jemian says:

Good morning! It is the evening of the 10th on this side of the world. So far, Fatty Kim has done nothing. And that’s a good thing.

    • tillacum says:

Good Morning from this side of the world, Jem.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Sure is lots of debate about what’s he’s up to, tho….

    • Jemian says:

IMHO, Fatty Kim will launch an invasion on the Republic of Korea and perhaps Guam. He’ll lose. But how many will get killed before he goes back to his corner.

    • edinva says:

Jemian, Latest news I heard was that NoKo would test launch a ‘mid range’ missile in the direction of Japan. No one knows if it would be set to land in the Pacific or Sea of Japan. The man is a certifiable lunatic, and we’ve watched a few generations of them now crying ‘wolf.’ Will this one be for real? Scary prospects, especially since the US is, as a practical matter, rudderless.

  14. lysie says:

    Go Swisher! Oh wait…wrong team…ha!

  15. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  16. Molly Pitcher says:

So……how many more workers have to leave the work force before 0 can claim full employment??

  17. lysie says:

Hi till. Good to see you.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

yes, it is! till Hope you’ve been well.

Made my first trip this season to the garden store to buy some mulch…as for plants…not planting so much as in past years…of course, I say that every year.

  18. edinva says:

I am REALLY sad about Lady Thatcher. She’s the last of the Big Three who so changed our world. I remember her coming to the US for ALL the cross-country funeral services surrounding Reagan, after she’d already had a serious stroke. What a show of respect! Even tho she’d long been out of power, it now feels as if we in the formerly “Free World” no longer have any grown ups in charge anywhere. Bibi, maybe, out of necessity.

  19. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  20. The Raven says:

One of the habits of the Media is to leave off the D when a Dem is in trouble for something. I was reading an article about a NY State assemblyman (Eric Stevenson ) receiving bribes and nowhere could I find the R or D. I had to google him to find out.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, and as you say if the culprit is an R…

Well, home opener today…Yankees in town, …and what the heck??? Travis Hafner is a
      Yankee??!! The DH???

  21. Molly Pitcher says:

    YAY! Snow out west!

And April in the s.e. ..look out, danger ahead.
