Something I’ve been thinking about that I’m not sure how to explain. The past several years I’ve noticed that when some men greet or congratulate each other instead of a handshake a “fist bump” is used. I grew up around men who gave firm handshakes. The symbolic meaning I got when seeing a handshake was the men were secure enough to offer an open hand.
Are men choosing fist bumps over handshake for sanitary reasons? Do men think fist bumps are cool?
