America the Right Way – Staying Vigilant December 21 and December 22 , 2013 ( Weekend Edition)

Rav and everyone, how about this quote??!!

“ Even as the economy creates jobs, too many Americans find themselves on the sidelines watching as the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class are getting squeezed and squeezed. There is no greater challenge this country has than income inequality. And we must do something about it,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.)

You first Harry. Then, after that… how about the ethical decline of our society?

  1. Prairie says:

A blessed Lord’s Day to all. Finishing up the Christmas shopping today, just odds and ends that didn’t get accomplished last week when Mr. Prairie was so ill. It won’t take long after church. Some last minute gift wrapping and grocery shopping and we’ll call it all done. Hope all are well and ready for a relaxing Christmas at your homes. God bless.

ed, you hit the nail on the heat. With today’s technology, ipad phones and Skype, the elected should stay at home. Hold their meetings via one of the technologies. Sure would save the tax payers a lot of money
We’re experiencing some nice rain and cool weather, right now, but is supposed to cool down in the next day or so.
Need to wrap some gifts, buy one more, today and I’m finished.

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

Molly, I think, (sometimes) our elected seldom , if ever, read a bill before it’s voted on. Their staff, I think, does the reading and briefs them, generally, of it’s contents. The bills are too lengthy, and the promised 3 day computer time is not used, as promised. If so, a lot of us would know what the bill was about.
Thanks Rave, we’ll watch for it and notify our elected to be on the lookout to stop it. reid knows we’ll probably have a republican (of some sort) in the Whitehouse and wants to make sure that the new president looks terrible with the new pay hike. How will he slip it through??

OH lysie, that breakfast looks to yummy. Why doesn’t my French toast look like that? I quit
making them, cause I always have scorch toast.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Scorch toast…lol

    • edinva says:

till, nothing will change until Members of Congress have to vote from their home district in a town hall setting with their constituents, not DC lobbyists, present. Folks vote for these guys/gals, send them to DC thinking their interests will be represented In reality, they are captured by the money interests before they’re sworn in. They vote for the business/labor/environmental interests, then go home and lie to their constituents, who don’t have time to follow legislation, in order to get re-elected. And the cycle continues. In this electronic age, there is no good reason they have to be in Washington to vote on important or even minor legislation.

Molly, it was like Spring here today. Got up to 72 and was sunny. Tmo will also be warm, but t-storms in the forecast. Completed all shopping ‘cept the rib roast that I will pick up tmo, then don’t want to see another store or market ’till end of the week.

I was hoping to find a nice red/black plaid onsie jammie for my prodigal Obama-loving son. No such luck.

    • lysie says:

ed, I agree. Ship them all back to their district where they are held accountable.

  5. Molly Pitcher says:

And the temp is going to drop thru the floor between overnight Sun., it seems….lovely

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Bennett had one of the Rs on his show mid week…can’t remember who it was…the man was surprised to hear this was in the budget deal, and said he’ d look in to it….if it was, it would be corrected….so…..so much gets by them….what’s the point….just how well are they representing us?

And this Senator….really he is one of the good ones…wish I could remember….

  6. The Raven says:

Make that gnaw on (hershey bar)……these autocorrect dictionaries are crazy….

  7. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

Lysie…Harry Reid is setting the stage for a massive tax hike … The timing needs to be such that Obama is out of office when the devastation begins

    • lysie says:

Good morning. You are right, Rav.

Are you there yet? Missed you at the party. I did my best to cover the TGIF while you were gone. 🙂

    • The Raven says:

Yep….drove/flew to PA ….listened to an audiobook murder mystery and sure enough…it was a lib author. when we were listening to early chapters, the Dem talking points were flying…evil bankers and wall st types. And somebody’s father was on the FED … So we figured early on the Republicans did it and turned on Christmas music. there too, the libs were present. no songs with Jesus or Christ or any deep religious message. plenty of Grandma got run over, etc. Went to Hershey yesterday and got two five lb chocolate bars for the grand kids to know on. today…taking mom to dinner and her favorite .. Penny slots.

    • lysie says:

Have a great time with your Mom.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Y’all are up so early….and thinking coherently….something Dems can’t do at any time of the day!

Mornin’ everyone…thises and thats to do..

There seems to be some sort of plumbing problem too…my husband will appreciate that little item when he wakes up…

    • edinva says:

Good morning, everyone. Lysie, thanks for the breakfast. For a moment there I thought, ‘yes! we’ll have French toast for breakfast today.’ Then I remembered we’re watching our carbs and I don’t have any bread in the house. Argh.

Looks like Harry got out of the hospital. Wish they hadn’t closed St E’s in the District. All the mental cases went there.

Raven, your time with your mother in PA sounds ideal. I’m sure your visit and doing what she loves means the world to her.

It’s our “alternative year” Christmas. So our family will ‘do’ Christmas tomorrow and Monday, then daughter/sil go to his folks for Christmas Eve/Day. That leaves poor Richmond son coming up Sunday, going back Tuesday morning, working Christmas Eve, then coming back up here after he gets off @ midnight (if he’s lucky). I’d offered to have us go to Richmond but he’d prefer being here (and he’s young). Tomorrow night we go to the Shakespeare Theatre to see “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” which I understand has been updated topically, and is supposed to be hilarious. Monday is the full nine yards Christmas dinner; Christmas Eve midnight Mass, and Christmas Day will be a lazy jammies day just noshing.

Speaking of jammies…. is or is not Pajamaboy the funniest story of the year? How clever of Team Obama, after totally screwing up their October Obamacare launch, to save the best for last. Yes, Michelle, we will ALL be discussing Obamacare at the Christmas dinner table (just as we did for Thanksgiving!). These people are certifiable.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      ED….like hearing about your plans….

Here the rain has turned up a notch or two…the river in the valley is a moderate flood stage at certain points…and it is warm! The first day of winter, too

Let us know about that comedy you are going to see…
