America the Right Way – Staying Vigilant January 11 , 2014 and January 12 , 2014 ( Weekend Edition)

In 2013 Christian killings in various countries almost doubled. All I can say is if the shoe was on the other foot the outrage would be deafening.

As a …well …duh… moment…after one week of Colorado’s legalization of pot some are claiming that the drug cartels may be targeting the sanctioned pot dealers. Oh joy. Cuomo wants medical marijuana in NYS. As if the state isn’t corrupt enough!!

Also, Dr. Brian Johnson, director of addiction psychiatry at Upstate Medical University states “Hyping it as a medical treatment is ridiculous. You will end up with a bunch of stupid stoners in New York with lung disease who think maybe they should go out on disability because they don’t want to get off the couch.”

Update:Former prime minister Ariel Sharon died on Saturday.

We had a very nice day today.

As we sat down for dinner we looked out our sliding glass door to see PB and Bentley playing “mine..no it’s mine…” ….They were running, kicking their heels and chasing each other with one of these…

They did this for over 30 minutes. It was fun watching them.

      G’day, all

Blue skies and relatively warm temps here today. 51 as I type. Nice change. The last of the family celebrations is today, culminating with a CINE viewing at the National Gallery of Art. It’s part of a series, tonight featuring Buster Keaton’s “The General,” accompanied by a live orchestra. Should be interesting.

For those who follow such things, tomorrow SCOTUS will hear Obama’s appeal of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit in the matter of his NLRB “interim” appointments when he claims the Congress wasn’t *really* in session but Congress says it *really* was. It is also the anniversary of the SCOTUS oral argument in the Paula Jones case which didn’t favor the incumbent.

Hope y’all have a good day on tap!

Ed , I love Buster Keaton movies. His stunts were amazing. No fill-ins for him. He did his own.

    • edinva says:

right, lysie.. no stuntmen for Buster. Incredible strength/athleticism. This was my first silent film. The show was absolutely FABULOUS. It took serious acting/emoting without talk, other than the occasional ‘pop up’ on screen. There was an approx 20-member orchestra with specially scored music for the movie. Just amazing. Full house, too, which is probably not that common there.

Daughter and sil put on a lovely afternoon tea/birthday pa rty. I actually enjoyed it thoroughly. . Hub is diabetic, so in lieu of a birthday cake they made a Grand Marnier dark chocolate mousse which, all things considered, is low sugar. Was pleased our son came up from Richmond ust for the afternoon/early evening, went back after the show. School starts up for him tomorrow morning

Was such a beautiful day today. Half of the Metro area decided to go down to the Mall. It was packed when we went into town but fortunately subsided by showtime, so we were able to find parking near the NGA. That’s kinda like finding hen’s teeth.

Shall we place bets on which will get more coverage this week: the GW bridge story or the Secy Gates book story???

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Harold Lloyd was another very physical comedian…just amazing

    Good morning everyone.

    Morning quote

Obama ordered an intensification of our effort in Afghanistan, while admitting privately that he expected it to fail. Approximately 80% of the fatalities our military has suffered in Afghanistan have taken place on Obama’s watch, not because he was pursuing a strategy that he sincerely believed to be in America’s interest, but because he cynically calculated that sending Americans to die in a useless campaign (as he assessed it) would benefit him politically. This is a scandal approximately a billion times more newsworthy than the Christie administration’s closing a lane on a bridge.

      Reprehensible…just despicable.

We’re planning on seeing Lone survivor this week…the timing, as the Gates book comes out, and Iraq’s increasingly threatened, couldn’t be more powerful.

The mainstream media powering up the bridge “scandal” to protect Obama’s back. Further evidence, the mainstream presstitutes don’t like us in the flyover country and our
      ideals.

The upper article is a poorly proofread but informative piece out of FoxNews. Colorado will turn into a crap-hole, IMO. The second article is very good from a Venezuelan blogger who graphically describes the lawlessness and violence in that country since the totalitarian regime of Chavez gained power. Apparently having Miss Venezuela violently murdered has struck a large nerve in the public there as she was quite well-known and popular.

Oh, and how about that middle fingering, cussing toddler in Pampers on the internet video? How special is that………..

We’re off to a dance this evening at least for a couple of hours.

(I apologize if this is a dup. Thought I’d posted but it was still sitting there looking quite un-posted)

How many present day seniors actually moved to CO because when they were young “Rocky Mountain High, Colorado” appealed to their stoned selves? And still does? The drug cartels and mobs that will try to take over the state and its drug trade might just offset that feelin’ good.

Today our weather vacillates between showers/rain/pouring rain. At least it ain’t s*** or we’d be housebound till April. Temps supposed to get near 60 today. In one week we’ve had record breaking cold, fog, rain and thunder storms (missed the s***).

Tomorrow we wrap up the holiday season in our family. Thank God. I’m kinda ‘funned out.’ On top of the regular Federal/religious holidays we have one anniversary and three birthdays immediately into the new year. DH’s birthday is Monday with the celebration on Sunday. His *birthday gift* is dear daughter’s beginning her job @ the Hillary! Holding Tank. Funny, in a perverse way, cause he’s sooooo far to the R. Do you know how hard it is to have loving family celebrations and NOT discuss how ****** off I am about this career choice? Ugh. Gimme strength, Lord, to keep my big mouth shut and let this thing play itself out. I was lib once and outgrew it. Fast!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hi ED..your post is pretty clear: you are stressed out. Just a wee bit! Remove thyself immediately from any situations that will add to this anxiety overload you are going thru. And then as time passes and the relatives are gone, I sure hope you get some R & R.
Also the weather line headed thru Virginia right now looks bad.

Thanks for the political news from the state..

  7. tillacum says:

Hopefully by Monday we’ll be in the garden. I need to get some cool weather seeds in the soil. I also have some cabbage plants that need to go into the keyhole garden and some bush beans. The garlic is doing well in the keyhole garden. I may plant some carrots to give the keyhole a kind of frilly top look.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hi till….read something sad yesterday….Sen Tom coburn is fighting cancer….getting treatments …and Sen jim Inhofe hasn’t been well lately….needed heart surgery last fall AND…his son, a respected surgeon in OK, was killed in a private plane crash just before Thanksgiving…just horrible…
