America the Right Way – Staying Vigilant February 1 , 2014 and February 2 , 2014 ( Weekend Edition)

Yipppppeeeee! Spring will be here soon. Wooohoooo!

Recently I read about an incident about lunch at a school. Several students’ lunches were thrown in the trash for not having enough money in their lunch accounts. That made me think about my school days.

In grade school I remember walking/running home for lunch. Home was about 1.5 miles from school. My brother and I would make our own lunch, eat and run back to school. What fun we had.

In high school lunches were served, however, our bagged lunches were much healthier and far more tasty.

Does anyone know when Congress polled so low? If we go back pre-FDR…do we still find it? Seems to me, that the Dems are causing all the hate.

I’ve never seen the country so divided, ethnically, religions, political parties and now it’s beginning lower class, middle class, upper class. When I was growing up, America was
classless, we were all the same, Americans. However I do remember as a child, hearing
about those rich people and how they need to pay more taxes.
I agree, the dems have a way of blaming the republicans for any wrong. We even have some republicans blaming the Tea Party for being …………We Tea Party people just wish our republican party would become more conservative and American and quit stabbing the conservative congresscritters and senators in the back.

As it happens, I’ve collected the past few days some stories from the front lines, so to speak…So here is #1:

A friend of ours is an engineer in a small manufacturing outfit which makes products for a certain industrial operation. He’s the supervisor for product development. And the past months they have been under intense pressure and scrutiny from guess where? Oh yes, the EPA, you got it.
Our friend is very worried. He wants the company to stay in business, naturally, and is concerned about everyone’s jobs, not just his own. He feels a great responsibility to get things right.

Very difficult times…there are a bunch of people so out of touch in Washington, it just makes you sick, well it does me. Stories like this are multiplying across the country, I’ve no doubt, in different ways, in different areas.

Molly thank you for sharing the bible vid with us. We have BEEN so blessed in our country. We are a nation based on the Bible and grew up with the Bible in our homes. To watch the excitement and emotion to FINALLY have a bible of their own to read makes one very humble to realize how lucky we have been all of our lives.

Phil saw his shadow – 6 more weeks of winter!

    • tillacum says:

I know, though I do love the cool weather, and we’re to have 6 more weeks of it, it sure has played havoc with our winter gardens. Day before yesterday my second “keyhole” garden was put in place. Now it’s time to put the innards in it. Life is exciting.

    • lysie says:

I can’t wait to begin gardening. Miss it…a lot.

  5. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

Re: the Christie stuff. This strikes me as being the same ole RAT tactics of picking a GOP contender and “uncovering” something “bad” about him or her, giving the “scandal” lots of negative press, thereby eliminating that particular person as a viable GOP contender. So, they’ve taken out Christie early.

Christie wasn’t viable in anyone’s mind except the GOPe.

Big game for Syracuse University basketball tonight @ 6:30 against Duke University. I like both teams…..but…go SU.

  9. lysie says:

Good morning. Huh! Never heard of trading 2. Great idea, though.

Before your actual retirement date do you have vacation time or is that included?

I’m missing Steyn’s Saturday column, and have been looking into where it is now published, if it is published…will continue to do so.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Here is a statement at the OCRegister:

      Editor’s note: Mark Steyn
Editor’s note: Syndicated columnist Mark Steyn has not filed a column with the Register since Dec. 20. While Mark has not notified our editors why he has gone on hiatus, we note that, according to several posts on his own site, steynonline.com, he is involved in the trial of a defamation lawsuit filed against him and others by a climate …

They attack conservatives comments, but ignore liberal hate..HATE!

      Pitiful!

  10. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning

I missed the festivities yesterday. We were out car shopping for the better half.

Background: Since I’m retiring and we have a car, an SUV, and a truck I have been trying to sell my “commuter car” – a one yr old Elantra – through the local paper and then we could certainly get by with the remaining two vehicles. Amazing that with the advent of Craigslist – nobody does that anymore (ads in newspaper) and when I picked up the paper to proof my ad – there were only 7 other people doing what I did. It used to be 5 or six pages of used cars!

Anyway — $60 and zero phone calls from interested parties later, I came up with Plan B. I asked a local dealer if they would take a trade of 2 vehicles and he said they have taken three in the past. So we went 3-row SUV shopping (1 row for us and 2 rows for grandkids) ……and internet researching……and car driving……..and ended up with an Acura at the end of the day. We got a good trade-in value and bought it But they have been selling them so fast – they don’t have any. And there are none on the way in our color. We have to wait until maybe April even though they are made in Alabama.

So we still have our trade-ins.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Fantstic breakfast, lysie Thank you.

Gee Raven that is some complicated car shopping expedition.

Someone pointed out the slanting in the Christie thing…lots of people knew about the closing mess, the question is: did he know it was deliberately, politically done. Not sure that is resolved, and the letter that came out yesterday may not have said that, but arrived just in time for insinuations just before the focus on NJ and the Superbowl….
