America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- April 7, 2014 – April 11, 2014 Remember 9/11

Hello!

Three pings have led investigators to focus on an area in the southern Indian Ocean in a desperate search for Flight 370’s Black Box before time runs out, and the batteries die.

Reports are that the President will be focusing on the economy …..again….in the coming week, and will also be playing a round of golf in the warming weather around DC…no I don’t know that….just a wild guess.

  1. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

Stephen Colbert is a comedy genius because he’s perfected the art of saying the opposite of what he believes.
Except Colbert essentially does the same joke over and over (conservatives are morons) and he’s only funny if you accept the premise (conservatives are morons) while you snort Mountain Dew out your nose thinking about what an awesome point he just made. (Conservatives are morons).
So, though he will be dropping the faux-con shtick when he takes over Letterman’s chair, millions of conservatives won’t be watching.
      -Kyle Smith, NY Post

    • lysie says:

I’m one of the millions not watching. Not that it matters.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

The late night shows….not what they used to be….

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Friday, finally! Ever since Wed., I’ve been thinking it’s Friday.

      Good morning lysie, everyone

    • tillacum says:

That’s an idea for breakfast. I might try that. Thank you for the idea.

  2. The Raven says:

Is it possible that the Dems purposely use Cummings & Holder for illegal acts so they can play the race card against criticism?

    • lysie says:

Anything IS possible with these people.

    • tillacum says:

Racism for this crew is a given. When normal, proper debate is not going their way,
thuggery and racisim wins. They know the progressive media will take their side.

    • edinva says:

MANY more Dems than Cummings and Holder commit criminal acts. Every day. BUT, yes, they’re letting C&H be the front men to keep up the ‘racist’ angle. Dems are in deep kimchee for the Nov elections. What do they have, other than their race card? Oh, yeah, the War on Women.

  3. mustknowhistory says:

We have just experienced the warmest day since last fall. It was wonderful to get out and start the yard clean up process.

Maybe the Sibelius announcement was timed to distract from the Lois Lerner story.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I just checked the forecast, and the warm temps are here for the next few days!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Oops posted too soon..

Good point about the announcement ‘ cause usually that sort of thing happens on a Friday p.m.

Good to see you posting again, mkh

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Whoa…now a House committee is going to vote on Holder contempt charges…he’ll really be mad now

    • lysie says:

HI, mkh. Hope you are well. It’s hard keeping up with all the lies coming from this administration.

    • tillacum says:

      That’s a possibility. Hmmm

    • edinva says:

OK, so it’s our moral duty to rail against “Washington,” meaning primarily the 535 jackasses that are sent to Congress from across the fruited plain. But for one week each year, this week, it’s possibly the most beautiful city in the world. (Maybe because all of “them” have gone home?)

There is no picture that can capture the breathtaking beauty of the Tidal Basin when the Cherry Blossoms are at their peak as they’ve been the past two days. Today is the Cherry Blossom festival parade down Constitution. That which I’ve not attended once in the 48 years I’ve lived here. Downside: traffic doesn’t move, is snarled by gawkers and tour busses.

So, what person who normally takes Metro drove to her office yesterday, right there at 6th Street where PA Ave meets Constitution, indeed where the grandstands are? Why that would be me! And, sacre bleu, who got a street parking space right on Constitution Ave at 6th? Again, moi! You can’t imagine what a miracle that is. I was tempted to take a cab across town to G’town University where i had a meeting (and the reason I drove) just leave the car in the never again to be achieved parking space!

Tomorrow we drive to Virginia Beach for the wedding of our son’s former girlfriend. How civil is that? We will stop to have brunch with him at the chichi restaurant where he used to work in RIC, then proceed en famille to the beach. It’s a fairly long day trip (400 miles RT) so nice to break it up with that stop.

Today will be a lot less fun. Our 44 y/o niece has recently been diagnosed with estrogen-induced cancer that seems to have metastasized and is now nestled in her liver, with ‘spots,’ neither defined nor eliminated as cancer, on her brain and spine. She’s going in for outpatient surgery Tuesday to remove an ovary to stop the generation of the bad cells. So my 2 local adult children and I have spent the past few days cooking/baking to prepare meals for her and her husband of a mere 2.5 years to get them thru the week (and then some). There’s really nothing else we can do. Her mom says she looks/acts/feels great, and goes to work every day teaching a room full of 3rd graders. At least for now. But she’s the only one in the family that seems to be holding it together. So God bless her.

You all enjoy these beautiful days, they’ve sure been a long time coming!

  4. Prairie says:

    (melodically)
So long, farewell, auf weidersehen, good bye……..Kathleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!!!

Makes me wonder if some totally stinky news about Obamacare isn’t coming out soon, so they are trying to get ahead of the story by throwing Frau Sebelius under the bus. Apparently she was recently snubbed by not appearing in a recent Rose Garden speech.

    • lysie says:

Shaking my head. I am. Cummings was mouthing off at the Lerner contempt hearing. Isn’t that like giving a bank robber the key to the vault? How low can they go? Disgusting!!! Integrity is a thing of the past. So sad.

  5. lysie says:

House panel voted 21 to 12 in the Lois Lerner contempt case. The resolution passes. Now what? Swept under rug by the press or reported that she is a victim? Wah!

    • lysie says:

Goes to the full House for a vote.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Seems like it’s a big deal, but who knows in the world we live in now…

Strong s. wind….warm(er), but uncomfortable feeling.

Next week is Holy Week…time to think about Easter outfit, menus and such….so far have avoided buying one, tiny, tiny, even the tiniest bit of Easter Candy…

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • lysie says:

      Thanks for the links, Molly.

Race, women, same sex. That’s all the progressives have to defend. Funny. I always thought we were to defend the Constitution. Simple as that.

    • The Raven says:

No opposition….lysie…..no one is saying no.

    • lysie says:

Good morning, Rav. You are correct. Liars and wimps are all we have representing us.

Hope you are having a great trip/vacation.

    • The Raven says:

We are going from Florida to Coastal Georgia today. Had two days of rain here … then it turned beautiful.

    • lysie says:

Sounds great, Rav. I’m so happy you are having a wonderful time.

Sometime in May , Greg and I will be making a decision as to what to do with a little of our retirement funds. Travel trailer, small camp/trailer with waterfront?? Decisions , decisions.

    • The Raven says:

The site next to us had one of those 40 ft bus-like motorhomes that cost upwards of $400k — they are two retired schoolteachers from Wisconsin.

    • lysie says:

Yikes! Our purchase will be FAR less expensive. 😉

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Y’all are on it…..now it’s all about this fall’s campaign and election, and the Dems are scared silly about their base, which by several accounts, is demoralized and planning to sit it all out.

But the Rs? What are they thinking? Mum seems to be the word……What about their base? What about making a profound and thoughtful defense of limited government against the toxic waste that is the 0 administration??

      GOOD MORNING!

    • lysie says:

Good morning, Molly. It looks like it will be a beautiful day, here. Woohooo!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Wow, that is great lysie ……good to read about your plans with Greg and travel.

  7. lysie says:

Prayers for the Murrysville, Pa. community. A male student is in custody after stabbing several students. All …very … very hard for me to comprehend as to why. Why?

    • lysie says:

Parents, please! Get your children away from video games, Facebook and TV. Get them outside fishing, swimming , biking, running, etc. Guide them by telling them the lack of self esteem in not because of other people’s words. It’s not a matter of outside pressures. It’s the lack of what’s inside. Pride…..building self pride by accomplishments.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Terrible….guess we will learn more as the hours go by. Heard that one student may have worked to save another by applying pressure to another’s wound

  8. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Breakfast…always delicious. Thanks lysie

    • The Raven says:

The Dems are starting early…….proposing spending and taxes up the ying yang. But where are the’Pubs to say: We are looking at what that does, aren’t we? Look at the effect of slowing down the economy on unemployment and the well being of the country. Let’s take their lies one by one. …..” and so forth

    • lysie says:

Rav, it all boils down to the fact Pubs are weak and afraid of the press calling them names.

  9. Molly Pitcher says:

    Us low-carbers will like this….

    Is CO2 the new cholesterol?

  10. tillacum says:

Molly, dc thrives off of OUR taxes. The rest of Americans town thrive on our hard work and ingenuity.
Who was the actress from Gone With The Wind, who left us?

  11. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Well, that is delicious! I love eggs in the morning.

      Full day here…

    • tillacum says:

I think I’ll have for breakfast, even with the potatoes. I’ll skip the toast.(?).
Seems the dems are still blaming the Bush administration. Mr. Cheney is the one
responsible for the TORTURE of those poor, poor muslims, according to num, num,
pussy peolosi. Their minds really live in La La Land.

  12. The Raven says:

Well, it wasn’t on the news but the IRS is backing off the proposed rule to limit free speech by a 501(c)(4) after the liberal groups (like NAACP, and ACLU and many others) protested, leading to the morning quote from the WSJ Ed:

The political shame is that the IRS was going full-speed ahead on the rule as long as conservative groups objected. Only after the Administration’s political allies figured out the danger did the agency and White House begin to have second thoughts.

This is, of course, what Lois Lerner and her policos were doing back in the day — all by themselves. Zero was trying to make it legal,

    • The Raven says:

I like this quote because you can substitute the liberal flavor of the day for “warmism”

The origins of warmism lie in a cocktail of ideas which includes anti-industrial nature worship, post-colonial guilt, a post-Enlightenment belief in scientists as a new priesthood of the truth, a hatred of population growth, a revulsion against the widespread increase in wealth and a belief in world government.
      Charles Moore, The Telegraph

You can replace warmism with gay marriage, income inequality, capitalism, immigration reform, gun control, abortion, etc, etc.

    • lysie says:

Good quote. At first I read war-ism as war on marriage, wealth, etc. Warmism , cocktail of lies…perfect.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

very good quotes. I need to read them again.

Now you survived the storms yesterday thru the panhandle?

  13. edinva says:

    Evening, all
Congrats to UCONN… that was a great game. A 7 vs 8 seed made it interesting and compensated for lack of a Cinderella team this year. Oh, I just loooove the NCAA March Madness.

Yesterday, DH and I took a day trip into the heart of the Rust Belt. Small PA town near Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Beautiful countryside, but long past its time as thriving industrial town. Every way you look, there is rusted out, rotted out, abandoned property, buildings and equipment. So depressing. But it was nice to have a long ride and change of venue if only for a day. We didn’t actually see a single person clinging to his guns or his Bible.

In addition to Mickey Rooney, I read that one of the surviving actresses from Gone with the WInd also died, and a young (50 y/o) comedian. Hopefully that’s the 3 and there aren’t any more for a while.

It’s gotten late, gotta ‘hit the sack.’ Hope all are well.

    • lysie says:

      Yes, UCONN, ed.

Yes, it is very sad that many cities throughout are non-productive. I think all that goes hand in hand with what has been in the news far too often lately. It seems like daily I read about young people being arrested for Meth labs or selling heroin. Also, stolen property at pawn shops. Pawn shops??? Really, what do people expect? Why do we have to jump through hoops to construct anything new on our 12 acre lot, but small town officials approve pawn shops and “head” shops? What the heck do they expect??

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Those cities….so sad…meanwhile…DC thrives….ugh, ugh…

      Hi ED

  14. Prairie says:

    Roots of Totalitarian Liberalism

1984 and the Liberal Gulag…..is here.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Excellent link and article prairie…I started reading it, and very quickly thought of the French Revolution….then the author mentions it, so that was something. I think we conservatives are awake to the dangers.

Goldberg and Coulter have recently written books on this subject too of course.

  15. Molly Pitcher says:

    oh my gosh

Ok, we must identify ourselves with signs as the outcasts or worse…that we are….chilling.

  16. Molly Pitcher says:

Did y’all hear about al sharpton being an FBI informer?! That takes the cake, doesn’t it?

    • Jemian says:

I read the headlines, Molly, but it didn’t go any further. Do you really think he was or is this someone just blowing smoke? Nothing seems to make sense in the culture. Sharpton is not credible himself, but then, again, I could believe he’d do almost anything for money.

  17. tillacum says:

Thank you Molly. I had not heard about him leaving us. I love those old movies. They were so
    sweet and clean.

  18. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the start , Molly.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

What a great start! Thanks lysie

I managed an early a.m. walk…just me and 2 woodpeckers having a conversation along the way

    • lysie says:

As I walked to the barn this morning, I had a conversation with a cardinal.

    • tillacum says:

Yum, we’ll have that. Thanks lysie. Is Mickey Rooney still with us? Haven’t heard anything about him, in years.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

till Rooney has just died. He was 93, I think…He appeared locally & regularly for years in a musical theater venue. I used to sing with someone who appeared with him, and he was a real…..character, I’ll put it that way…loved the girls….It sure is fun to watch him and Judy in those old movies, isn’t it? The energy!!
