America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- October 6, 2014 – October 10, 2014 Remember 9/11

Hello!

Some news tidbits to start the week:

Did you know that Solid Joe Biden insulted 2 supposed allies this weekend and both times had to apologize….that got me to wondering how many times Dick Cheney had to apologize in similar fashion….

An army vet threw out the first pitch at one of the weekend’s play off games. He threw the ball as if it was a grenade!

Former Fed chief Bernanke revealed that he was recently turned down for a loan to refinance his house, causing him to wonder like so many others in these tight times if banks were a little overly cautious and regulated these days.

    TGIF!!

“It’s A Great Day To Be Alive”

I got rice cookin’ in the microwave
Got a three day beard I don’t plan to shave
And it’s a goofy thing but I just gotta say, hey
    I’m doin’ alright

Yeah I think I’ll make me some homemade soup
I’m feelin’ pretty good and that’s the truth
It’s neither drink nor drug induced, no
    I’m just doin’ alright

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’
    When I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t everyday be just this good

It’s been 15 years since I left home
And said good luck to every seed I’d sown
gave it my best and then I left it alone
    I hope they’re doin’ alright

Now I look in the mirror and what do I see
A lone wolf there starin’ back at me
Long in the tooth but harmless as can be
Lord I guess he’s doin’ alright

And it’s a great day to be alive

I know the sun’s still shinin’
    When I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t everyday be just this good

Sometimes it lonely, sometimes it’s only me
And the shadows that fill this room
    Sometimes I’m fallin’, desperately callin’
    Howlin’ at the moon, ah-ooh

Well I might go get me a new tattoo
Or take my old Harley for a three day cruise
Might even grow me a Fu Man Chu

And it’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’
    When I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t everyday be just this good

It’s a great day to be alive
I know the sun’s still shinin’
    When I close my eyes
There’s some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can’t everyday be just this good

this week in baseball: Mantle…. Powerline

    Back later after more busy-ness…

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  4. Molly Pitcher says:

truly bleak 0’s popularity in much of the country

  5. The Raven says:

I can’t believe it. Now they want to do an end around the 2nd Amendment by claiming gun violence is a heath issue and therefore they can regulate it. I didn’t see this one coming. Cute, real cute.

  6. The Raven says:

The Pubs are up 6 seats in safe and lean. That means if they split the toss-ups 50-50…..they control the Senate.

  7. tillacum says:

A 3 year old boy is sitting on his potty. His mother thinks he has been in there too long, so she goes into to see what’s up. He’s reading a book. But every few seconds or so, he put the book down, grips on his potty and pops himself on top of his head with his right hand. His Mom asks if he’s alright, because he’s been there so long. Billy, “I’m fine, Mommy, I just haven’t gone potty yet. Mom, “Ok, you can stay here a few more minutes, but Billy, why are you hitting the top of your head?” Billy, “It works for ketchup.”

    • lysie says:

Thanks, mkh. Hanson nails it. His report is true and frightening.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Well, it’s good to be back, at least the pile of mail on the d.r. table thinks so….me, too!

We need a daily dose of good news, so keep an eye out, ok?

Acts of selflessness…. some success stories, personal or otherwise…

    • The Raven says:

Good news? How about another scandal?

You know, the reason the Obama’s need to cover everything up with politics is the same reason the liberals thrive on propaganda, deceit, tyranny, voter fraud, and deception. Why they need to silence talk radio, the Koch brothers, and ban books. Because the truth for them is ugly. The truth will not get a standing ovation. The competition (free markets and free people) is so overwhelmingly better that it needs to be trampled.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, am just hearing about this.

I don’t think Limbaugh has enough scandals to cover 😉

  8. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

In the …”if I was to write a book” category, in the back of my mind I always wondered who has the keys to the safe holding the Spanish flu, anthrax, etc. I wouldn’t put it past the progressives to come up with a population “adjustment” plan to pay for their programs.

Anyway, I came across this story from the summer that I had previously missed. I was on vacation at the time…..but this seems to be incompetence…..or is it?

At any rate, why don’t the Republicans attack with ads hard and first on the incompetency of progressive’s ideas – immigration, ebola, the economy, & foreign policy? The worst thing is for the left to taint the Republicans as they are now trying to do. Especially eBola.

The Republican in the drought affected California district is ahead handily by attacking the Dem’s environmental programs

    • lysie says:

      Good morning, Rav.

Your first link…Accidental? Perhaps, but I wouldn’t bet on it then or in the future.

    • Jemian says:

      Yummy breakfast, thanks!

I am feeling better. Not completely well, but definitely better.

We just received an email from a person in Nigeria. HE DID NOT ASK FOR MONEY! (yet) He said that he and his family had just received a mormon bible and was that in line with the Bible and God’s teachings. We gave him a short answer, Bible references and told him we’d pray for him and his family.

I’m just wondering if this will open the door to a scam or some such swindling activities. /suspicious

    • edinva says:

“Doveryai, no proveryai,” to quote Ronald Reagan! Trust but verify. Sorry thing is, it’s getting so you can hardly trust anyone.

    • lysie says:

You are welcome. Glad you are feeling better, Jem. Keep it up. 🙂

It’s a shame that we have such suspicions, but they are there because of the jerks who scam. I wish we could trust…it is out nature to trust, but in today’s world we can’t.

  9. tillacum says:

Did anyone hear Panetta on O’Reilly last evening? He DID tell the pRESIDENT Benghazi was being attacked, by Islasmists (?)

    • edinva says:

The trashing of Panetta will be something to behold. Good thing he immunized himself as being an easy-going guy during his years in Congress. think it’ll be brutal, but at least he’s in good company with Axelrod, a son of “The City that Works.” My memory is that Panetta started life as an R. Anyone else have that memory? Or is it my imagination? I AM *getting* old ya know.

  10. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  11. Prairie says:

We’re home. Exhausted. Much to do.

  12. Molly Pitcher says:

    Back later….markets down beaucoup points……

  13. Jemian says:

I am better. I seem to have a lighter case than many. A colleague has been sick for FOUR WEEKS with some sort of respiratory crud, my hubby was sick for about two weeks with it. I took one day off last week and also avoid working at school when my active teaching is done (that isn’t to say I’m through working. I do prep at home). I’m adjusting the dosage of my meds. Taking less and not more. We’ll see how that goes. And it is a good excuse to go off Atkins and eat an ice cream bar. Good for a sore throat, donchaknow!

  14. tillacum says:

The pRESIDENT shows, again, he is with the muslims and believes in their thinking and their
quoran for living. Which wrist does he wear his watch?

  15. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.
    Low carb toast, of course.

    • The Raven says:

Interesting take on Ferguson….linked on Powerline.

Ferguson’s Unasked Questions– HEATHER MAC DONALD

She inches to an alternate reason but doesn’t make it That the reason for the devastation is liberalism……the poor education, broken families, high unemployment and high crime rates have a common denominator: Democrats. She also doesn’t conclude if the police officer who shot the black youth was justified.

And, Molly…your VD Hanson link above on Obama blaming his incompetence on the financial crisis reminds me of the campaign of Obama…promising he was the best one to get us out of the mess.

    • The Raven says:

I just had low carb English Muffins.
      Here’s an interesting link:

WHITE HOUSE SENDS ‘THANK YOU’ TO BEHEADER’S OKLAHOMA MOSQUE CONGREGATION

    • lysie says:

      A thank you???

      A thank you???

I’m trying to post something that is NOT a curse word….

    • tillacum says:

Thank you lysie. I think we’ll have exactly that, hubby can have the toast.
I saw ISIs is about to take over Kobina, USING OUR AMERICAN TANKS, they took from the Iraqis, and OUR TRUCKS, plus ammunition from Benghazi. Every time we leave a
battle won, we leave behind stuff they can use against us, or someone else. WHY OH WHY don’t we destroy our stuff to the point of it being impossible to be used.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Good morning…

When I get home ….baseball playoffs…a nice thought. Who to route for: KC or Ba’more??

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Right, till… While we did next to nothing recently to aid the Kurds…

  16. tillacum says:

Molly, there’s not much damage, a lot of old trees and limbs on the ground. I don’t know of any other house damage, just trees and limbs in the yards.
Jem, I’m sorry you’re under the weather and under pressure to put out a report. That’s the nuts.
Rave, where are you in Texas?

  17. Molly Pitcher says:

There seems to be breaking news on Twitter about SCOTUS and 5 appeals re: gay marriage…probably not good news…

  18. The Raven says:

After the game, I watched 60 minutes and the interview with the FBI Director dropped my jaw. Only because he wasn’t political and was appointed by the One. He seemed competent. Then they let out he was in the Bush Administration previously – so he must be a ‘Pub. Then I started thinking of how it could be – if everyone was like that. You know…purpose, not power.

And speaking of which, Texas Democrats lost an attempt to criminalize politics again…..

    The Nine Years of DeLay

    • Molly Pitcher says:

0 appointed an R as acting director??

    • edinva says:

Molly .. ok, so what D could they find to run the FBI? per Wiki: “Comey and his wife Patrice are the parents of five children. He is a Roman Catholic of Irish descent.[43][44] Comey is a registered Republican who donated to U.S. Senator John McCain’s campaign in the 2008 presidential election and to Governor Mitt Romney’s campaign in 2012 presidential election.”
Saw your book recommendations. My sainted daughter/husband are now in Burma, just began a 2 week vacay. Believe today they’re going to begin their trek to Inle Lake. It’s kind of fun living vicariously. I don’t have to spend 30 hours on a plane (each way), 2 days hiking, nor all that $$$. Life is good.
Did you all see the dedication yesterday of the Veterans Disabled for LIfe Memorial? A friend went today and was deeply moved. I will go next week with my next round of visitors.
Jemian, hopefully a good night’s rest will fix you up and the survey won’t seem too great a challenge. Sleep is the best medicine, IMO. But, then, you know where I got my M.D.

  19. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the start and new book titles, Molly.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Oh wow!

    • tillacum says:

WHAT A GREAT IDEA !!! I think I’ll try that the next time we have guests. Thanks lysie.
Good Morning everyone. Gotta take the truck in for it’s inspection etc, for it’s yearly tag.
We had a pretty strong straight wind come through night before last and a down burst, it tore the top off our balcony shade, over the top of the house and thankfully missed the trucks and van parked in front of the house. The house actually shook while the shade was being torn off the balcony and the nails are still imbedded in the supports. The trees are still in the yard, awaiting the insurance adjuster. Even the balcony floor was torn in places. Now’s the time to improve it. AW, the excitement of living in central Texas. Today will be not as warm as it has been. Thankfully.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Woah, that was an event! Was the damage pretty widespread, then

    • Molly Pitcher says:

We seem to be having trouble getting up and going this a.m. I think trip fatigue is setting in. 2 days more and we will be arriving at the airport, and headed for home, tho. Am already thinking of all the things to do….not a good idea, that…

    • lysie says:

My goodness , Till. Damaging winds can be frightening. I’m thankful you and hubby are ok.

Molly, I’ll trade you some of my get going too early for some of your can’t get going in the a.m. LOL

Lately, I seem to wake up around 4:30-ish and can’t get back to sleep. If the pets hear me move….they all are at the bedroom door…making noises. 😉

  20. Molly Pitcher says:

Everything they believe just happens to be untrue The NYT is having a hard time these days….PJM

  21. Molly Pitcher says:

Here are a couple more book titles….

    1. Elephant Company elephants played a role in the Burma theater, WWII….this is their story and that of the humans who trained and used them

    2. Mindset success in life often depends on how you view your life, and the ability to change circumstances which may thwart you

    • Jemian says:

Those two titles, Molly, look rather intriguing. I’ll have to hunt them up on kindle. At present I’m finishing up the third book of the Century trilogy by Ken Follett. I can’t remember the title of this latest work, but it came out on Sept. 14, 2014. I’m also planning to read the latest in the Longmire series by Craig Johnston. That, too, is a recent publication.

My long-time enjoyment of regency romances has waned. I can predict so much of them and they’re not doing the trick of making me sleepy, just bored. So, I’m hunting up new genres. I’ve enjoyed a lot of C. J. Box stories, too. It is difficult to find books which aren’t “sweaty” or just plain coarse. I realize tossing in expletives in every third sentence pushes up the word count. But unless an author is writing for NaNoWriMo, such a measure is quite unnecessary. Anyway, I’m searching for new books.

Finally, this week has me a bit under the gun. On Friday I realized that the report I am to write is not due NEXT week. It is due on Wednesday. So, I’m trying to cram in a bit of a survey in order to have documentation for my writing. And, on top of this, last week I had a bit of the sniffles. But, I began taking a cold medicine which is available here and which contains phenylpropanolamine. That is an amphetamine which constricts mucus passages and makes my cold symptoms vanish. In higher dosages, I understand it does whatever all amphetamines do. Anyway, I took the last dose last night. My head cold has returned and really just don’t want to do anything. It is 1640 now. Hubby should be home in about an hour. I’ll send him out for fast food and some more meds. I just don’t really feel like doing that dumb survey.

    • lysie says:

Get well prayers for you, Jem. Not feeling well and being pressured is not a good combination.

    • Jemian says:

Well, I sent a blood slide to the lab just to be on the safe side. It was negative for malaria but also they did NOT say I have a high white cell count. So, this is probably just a head cold. He brought back my cold meds, which work better than NyQuil, and so I’ll be okay in the morning.

      Fixin’ to read a book.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hope you are better soon Jemian
