America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- October 13, 2014 – October 17, 2014 Remember 9/11

Gen. Dempsey got ahead of his Commander-in Chief once again this morning in an appearance on ABC’s This Week.

The General revealed just how close ISIS is to closing access to the Baghdad airport and that Apaches had been deployed to keep the airport open last week. It was a startling admission that the airstrikes alone are not enough fighting ISIS in Iraq, despite what the President and his spokesmen say. Again we have an administration at odds with itself and in such dangerous times, too.

I’ve no doubt that serious people in both parties…long-timers in Washington…are shaking their heads in shocked disbelief, whether they care to admit it in public or not. They are very concerned. And those in the military, or support the military? Their dismay must be off the charts. As is ours.

  1. mustknowhistory says:

If any of this is true, Dr. Frieden will be out of office by noon, and heaven help the rest of us.

  2. The Raven says:

    Morning Quote:

We cannot ban people at high risk of Ebola from entering the U.S. because people in West Africa have Ebola, and we don’t want it to spread. Huh? … Who do they think we are?

-Peggy Noonan in today’s WSJ commenting on CDC’s Dr. Frieden’s logic in a Megyn Kelly interview on FOX. Update Ebola travel link at NYP.

The Raven thinks that if they get just one airport related Ebola……panic will set in and people will avoid airports – then what?

    Morning quote #2

Not to worry. We know what we’re doing. We have protocols. When, however, we got the first Ebola transmission in the United States, it was blamed on a “breach in protocol.”

Translation: “Don’t blame us. The nurse screwed up.”

    Morning quote #3

As of the end of the 2013 fiscal year, the total number of post-final-order aliens remaining in the country was 872,504

Number of deported illegals in the country…..many are criminals– Breitbart

    • mustknowhistory says:

I read somewhere, someone commenting that nurses at that Texas hospital are refusing to treat this infected nurse. Don’t know if this is true or not.

    • mustknowhistory says:

Here it is from Hot Air thread ‘Ebola has revealed the CDC is a disaster:’

Nurses calling into Radio Talk shows are saying that Vinson was transferred to Emory because nurses in the Texas Healthcare Hospital system were balking. – WBAP

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Evening mkh, everyone…. I do not like it one bit that more troops are headed to the Hot Zone !!

    • Prairie says:

I think you are correct mkh. I heard a question in the hearing today that was framed within this possibility and Frieden gave a non-answer, basically confirming without stating.

    • Prairie says:

Speaking of The Hot Zone, have you ever read that book? I did about 15 years ago and it scared me to death. Even in the book the CDC wasn’t so utterly incompetent, so reality has turned out to be scarier than fiction. Pffft!!!!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, prairie… A friend and I read that book about the same time when it was pretty new…we kept talking about it til we moved on to all the Clinton scandals!

  3. The Raven says:

DOW is down again. Way back in February, I put a calendar entry on my phone (on Oct 8) to remind me to get out of the market before the October crash (that’s when I thought the market would crash for reasons I have since forgot). I did pull out some funds into cash when the reminder came up — but I should have pulled more. Question is … this the beginning of the end or just a correction?

  4. Prairie says:

The homosexual mayor of Houston (so glad I don’t have to live there) has backed down from her subpoena harassment of pastors. As I understand it, there was recent legislation that was passed that allowed for transvestites to use the other sex bathrooms. And a lawsuit was filed against this, and using the claim of “discovery” the mayor’s lawyer-thugs harassed local pastors who weren’t even involved in the lawsuit. Anyway, apparently Greg Abbott’s letter worked. Ted Cruz also spoke out in defense of the pastors.

Here is Abbott’s letter via FR thread.

  5. Molly Pitcher says:

Meet Elbert Guillory …I would sure like to meet this man. He’s fighting as a liberated Black man…not on any kind of plantation.

    • lysie says:

Mr. Guillory reminds me of Mr. Freeman,a black gentleman I knew as a child. He lived through difficult times and yet he never was bitter. He had family values. Plus, he was a dear friend of my maternal grandfather and grandmother.

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Good morning.

Any news about the family and people in close contact with Duncan in the days prior to his hospital admittance? Or from the hospital waiting room? Seems to me those contacts may be the key to how easily this disease is spread in this country with its higher level of sanitary conditions than w. Africa.

    • lysie says:

      Good morning, Molly.

Those are good questions, Molly. I haven’t seen any reports, so far.

  7. The Raven says:

    Morning this and that

-One can hardly be blamed for not thinking of this lefty tactic. The libs can create a situation of 1st Amendment (freedom of speech, religion) vs. Liberalism (malcontents, gay rights) in the courts. Of course, liberalism will win. Then what do we have?

-Florida State has been ranked 1 or 2 all season and yet, only plays one team in the top 20 (Notre Dame this weekend) – How do we know how good they really are?

-Arkansas’ highest court reached deep into its liberal bag of trickes and decided that proving who you are in order to verify a voting requirement is too much.

“….The high court noted the Arkansas Constitution lists specific requirements to vote: that a person be a citizen of both the U.S. and Arkansas, be at least 18 years old and be lawfully registered. Anything beyond that amounts to a new requirement and is therefore unconstitutional, the court ruled.”

Didn’t the US Supremes rule on this years ago? Said it was OK to have voter ID?

“…Wretched excess by government can be beneficial if it startles people into wholesome disgust and deepened distrust and it prompts judicial rebukes that enlarge freedom.” – George Will

  8. Prairie says:

Also Nina Pham’s boyfriend has been admitted and isolated in hospital under observation. He has not shown symptoms yet but he was in “close contact” with her. This explains a report about the length of time ebola remains alive in semen that I heard today.

  9. Prairie says:

So, did you hear Megan Kelly report that the 2nd nurse ebola victim Checked With The CDC to see if it was alright for her to fly on a plane? They gave her the okie-dokie. And we are supposed to believe what they tell us. I have begun referring to 0 as Barack Ebola. I alternate that name with Stinky as the mood strikes me. Good evening everybody, hope all here are well.

    • Prairie says:

I should make clear on my post that the nurse checked with the CDC before she boarded any flight. So her culpability for exposing others is much reduced in my view.

    • lysie says:

Over the past years I’ve learned that anything is possible with this group of nincompoops. Instead of a flashlight these idiots would wear an eye mask to see in a dark room.

  10. Molly Pitcher says:

    • Molly Pitcher says:

There’s reality and then there’s what the administration says…the pattern for years whatever the story at the time is…..and over the 6 years there are many stories, many situations…so the divergence is becoming glaringly apparent at this point.

That is how Cong. Duncan hunter describes the Mess We Are In

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      From Hot air….

As I said way to early this morning, it’s not right for West Africans to have all the exotic diseases. We need to keep the borders open, so we can redistribute them fairly.

Racistanyway on October 15, 2014 at 7:31 PM

Ha, and good description of the craziness

    • lysie says:

Rare that we go to listen to music on Wed. , but needed the retreat from the cr@p out there.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Good. Very good.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

It was my plan to complete and turn in my CCW license renewal…was able to get that done this a.m., plus exercise, and spent some time laughing with friends.

  11. lysie says:

I was thinking…(ouch)….Do you find it strange that the EPA, DEC has killed non-native wildlife (invasive species) BUT we can’t protect our people from disease by closing our borders?

  12. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  13. The Raven says:

    Morning Quote

Marxism neither interprets the world nor changes it; it is merely a repetition of slogans.
…socialism would be a splendid idea if only there were no people.

    Both from Kolakowski (see below)

Also substitute Liberalism, Democrats, Obama for Marxism

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      No people, eh?

Well we do know that’s one of the Left’s projects.

By George I think you have discovered the key to puzzle of the liberal mind.

      No people…ok working on that…check..

      Yay! Utopia!

  14. Molly Pitcher says:

For certain reasons I won’t go into here, I am not a big O’Reilly Fan…but here, as introduced and provided by Powerline, he is on target:

    Total Garbage

  15. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning….strange morning light out there.

Listening to Bennett and the talk about latest news coming out of Rome…head-scratching they call it, but I’m not very up to date on that front…too much other stuff going on.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

How are you doing after your busy day yesterday?

    • lysie says:

      We are well. Thanks.

I’ve been trying to make sense ….Pentagon….global warming…Can’t make sense. Next will law enforcement have to do the same?

    • lysie says:

It’s a tad windy here this a.m., but warmer temperatures are coming for a few days..they say.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I was listening to a report on ISIS….my head couldn’t take it after awhile.

If we have people trapped there because the airport in Baghdad wasn’t saved – as Dempsey is trying to do, DESPITE the President’s indifference…well, what then? Another Benghazi?? And that would just be the beginning of this latest heinous chapter…

The fecklessness, profound unseriousness of this President is incomprehensible, at least by any previously known Presidential measure and standard.

Well, trying to keep my sanity, I will return to mundane chores, waiting for the furnace guy to arrive for routine fall maintenance check. Funny how some things still work, but the big picture…well that’s going to hell in a hand basket.

  16. lysie says:

We are back from winterizing the camp. The vacation park will shut the water main off this week. We will continue to go to the camp for a bit and bring water from home.

  17. The Raven says:

Voter Fraud again: Note the Dems don’t seem to be worried anymore about the elections. Is there a way we can make this backfire on the Dems? Obviously, they keep secret their illegal activities……..but we should be able to find some clues.

    • lysie says:

Well, that is a nice and neat law those rascally dems came up with. Sheesh!! I would love to read Two Thirds Vote Aye’s rant. It would be a beauty.

  18. tillacum says:

Hmm. Just read Business Insider and Turkey has agreed to allow us to train Syrian “moderates”, using their Incirlik facility, but says nothing about allowing the US to use their base to help the Kurds.

  19. tillacum says:

I just passed the tv and saw that Turkey has offered their military bases if we need them, to help the Kurds. Obama was getting ready to go golfing.

  20. lysie says:

Someone please tell me ..why did my mother keep me out of school when I had the measles or chickenpox? Could it be because it was the right thing to do? Do these jerks in this administration do anything right?

  21. Molly Pitcher says:

Another volatile week on Wall Street ahead?

  22. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  23. The Raven says:

    Morning quotes:

Why does Boulder want to take away women’s birth control?

–WSJ ed today commenting on the Univ of Colorado limiting student work hours to avoid OCare.

The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design.

    — Hayek, 1988 – The Fatal Conceit [hat tip WSJ op ed by Boudreaux & Zywicki writing about what Hayek called “the pretense of knowledge”—the idea that anyone could know enough to engineer society successfully]

We did it in broad daylight, around 11 a.m. Many people saw us do it…They all agreed

–Gedang, China resident after participating in the new fad of moving bus stops [WSJ article, In China, the Bus Stops Sometimes Take a Walk

–The reading on the gas pump after an unattended fill of my 1961 VW Beetle on Columbus Day back in The Raven’s college days.

A top Democratic strategist tells The Hill President Barack Obama “should take a flamethrower to his office,” clean house, and begin with new staff.

–From Breitbart – So it isn’t Obama’s fault. It isn’t Bush’s fault. It isn’t the evil Republicans. It’s his staff !!!

  24. tillacum says:

I’m not surprised, one bit. Obama has been slow to no show when it comes to the war in the mid east.
