America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- January 5, 2015 – January 9, 2015 Remember 9/11

Hello!

Action resumes in DC this week. For one thing, the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources is likely to vote out approval on the Keystone Pipeline on Thursday. Cong. Gohmert has announced his intention to challenge Speaker Boehner for that job.

The President is returning to the WH with much speculation about his use of Executive Orders or whatever he calls them and seems to get away with.

And up in Boston on Tuesday the time capsule buried by Sam Adams and Paul Revere in 1795 will be opened. Now that’s exciting!

And finally looking on to next month:the Kitty Bowl returns, Feb. 1, the Hallmark Channel! YAY!

And that’s your news wrap up.

  1. The Raven says:

Federal prosecutors and the FBI have recommended felony criminal charges be filed against … former Gen. David Petraeus for slipping classified information to his former mistress

Is this sick or what? Is this for real or does he have something on the Obama administration? Is this related to Sharyl Attkisson?

  2. lysie says:

Anybody know someone …unless ….a bomb, fire, intruder, or any other major distraction…could sit calmly watching Fox News. Cripes…I put flea meds on 3 cats and…Greg didn’t flinch. I telling you there was huge meoooowwws///!!

  3. tillacum says:

Prayers for JT, bride and the baby.

  4. Molly Pitcher says:

vote on Keystone the bill passed with 28 Dems voting aye with the Rs, after NE court gave go ahead, another of one of 0’s hurdles

  5. The Raven says:

    T G I F

Since Obama is heading South today……how about some southern music??

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Love it! Not the 0 part….

    • lysie says:

Woohoo! Good old American music…Love it. Elvis…my birthday partner.

      Thanks, Rav.

    • The Raven says:

      That Elvis performance…..

has anyone ever sung Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!, better? Or maybe I’m biased ’cause he was a Republican??

I was watching the reports from Paris when the TV went blank for about 5 sec. and then the coverage switched to Air Force One at the airport. And we also have Biden here as well with the two Republican Senators (Alexander, Corker), the local Rep. Representative (Duncan) the mayor of Knoxville, Gov Haslam, etc. The local newscasters were peeing their pants. They gave a 5 minute glowing description of Biden and I had to turn it off before they got to Obama.

Initially, the local journalists didn’t have a clue why O was coming here. I’m guessing it is because they had been ignoring the Governor proposing a two year free community college program. Then when they found out Obama was also proposing it, they began fainting. It is actually embarrassing.

    • edinva says:

AND can we have a nice Southern Happy Birthday for Jem ? Happiest of b’day to our new granny. Hope everyone’s doing well

    • lysie says:

Our dear friend , Tony, in the Friday night band…does an outstanding Elvis…Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! Bring me to tears..often. Best vocal in the band..Diverse tunes with high and low voice levels.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Is that cheese or peanut butter?

  6. lysie says:

    Thanks for the links, Molly.

I never thought I would ever agree with Bill Mayer. He got that one right.

  7. Molly Pitcher says:

    Happy, Happy Birthday, Jemian!

  8. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

Telling the truth is a petty- bourgeois prejudice. Deception, on the other hand, is often justified by the goal.

      – Vladimir Ilyich Lenin [deceptive campaign promises of the Bolsheviks helped them gain power in November, 1917 but workers asked for their new benefits – so they were now enemies of the people]

      – – – – – – – – – –
      Morning quote #2:

It’s inconceivable that the thinking that we hold most sacred should cause the entire umma[Islamic world] to be a source of anxiety, danger, killing and destruction for the rest of the world. Impossible…I say and repeat again that we are in need of a religious revolution. You, imams, are responsible before Allah. The entire world, I say it again, the entire world is waiting for your next move… because this umma is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost—and it is being lost by our own hands.

Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, from JWR, Liberals=cowards

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thank you and good morning lysie everyone…

Looks like a good day to stay in, and considering I’ve been out and about the past 4 days, that’s ok.

    • lysie says:

Good morning, Molly. I’m staying put, too. We might go out later for music, but I won’t cry if we don’t.

    • The Raven says:

With Obama coming to town today, the roads will be a mess.

Background: One of my most liberal friends switched parties so he could vote for Bill Haslam in the Republican party. It was the first time in his life he voted for a Republican. Right then my antenna went up.

Fast forward….Today, Haslam is offering two free years of Community College to TN residents and we all know that government spending ideas attracts Democrats like flies to Shoo Fly Pie. So, that’s what Obama is doing here today. Another opportunity to borrow money

  9. The Raven says:

    Democrats in the news
    – Zero is coming here to Knoxville today to propose more government spending

    • lysie says:

      Well, well…isn’t that swell.

I find that if a person works for and pays for something they value it more.

Oh well. O is doing so well transforming this country in to a country with low values.

      😦

  10. Prairie says:

Happy Birthday Lysie! Hope it’s been a great day.

Cool about the new antibiotic, Raven. Good evening everybody.

  11. The Raven says:

Democrats in the news – Boxer retires
Democrats in the news II – Cops embarass Sharpton

  12. Molly Pitcher says:

Bill Bennett was not appreciating the ” Je suis Charlie” meme of yesterday’s reaction to the latest Horror. He thought it too weak, and of course it was…something like the tweets responding to the Boko Haram kidnappings last spring, I would say.

So he suggested “Je suis the tip of the spear” or something, and as usual invited callers’ ideas. One of the best that I was able to hear was: “Je suis Charlie. Alpha Bravo, Let’s Roll”. That was made me LOL.
Another caller pointed to this contrast. Our forces have failed lately in 2 hostage rescue attempts. And then look at how well the operation was carried out yesterday. Not a happy contrast, for sure.

  13. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  14. Molly Pitcher says:

ok..Multiple Choice question of the day:

The chances of any bipartisan agreement (WH-Congress) on any significant issues are…
    1. Nil
    2. Nil to the nth degree
    3. Have you lost your mind even contemplating the question?

0 is taunting Congress already. He’s made his decision and is warming up his Veto pen.

So what will the R majorities in Congress do? What do you think? They can neuter themselves, like Reid basically did the past few years, and do nothing hoping for greater appeal and votes and the WH in 2016. OR they can pass some good bills which are popular, significant, important reforms, send them to the WH, and let 0 play his hand. I sure hope and pray Congress chooses the second option.

    • lysie says:

      All of the above.

I sure hope and pray Congress chooses the second option.

I do, too. I won’t be holding my breath. If the Rs cave, my party left me.

      Cold out there….Brrrr!

    • tillacum says:

hope they put some good significant bills on his desk then watch to see what he does.
I hope they learn to use the media and presstitutes to their advantage and the good of Americans. I have my fingers and toes crossed…no not my eyes, they have lenses.

    • Prairie says:

Establishment republicans…..blech. I understand that Boehner has already taken away some plum committee seats from a couple of them who voted against him yesterday. Oh, if he’d only fight the democrats with such determination!!!!!

    • edinva says:

If the Rs had any chutzpah whatsoever, they would just let him warm up his veto pen on the big issue that Americans care about … let him become the pariah at the ’16 DNC convention. Remember how unpopular Carter became, he didn’t even get an invitation to the ’84 DNC convention. I’d just keep clobbering him with bills that go against his personal agenda, but that are popular with voting Americans. Alas, the Rs have no chutzpah.

  15. Prairie says:

Molly Harry Reid has never given a concession in his life. However, he may have a concussion. Or a compression. Or maybe he’s simply in need of confession.

    😛

  16. Prairie says:

Optometrist apt today, eyes dilated, still can’t see worth a darned. Light eyes apparently take longer to recover. So I’m reduced to television. Watching (so to speak) the coverage of Paris attack. I despise islam. Come and get me, islamic criminals.

And Raven that picture of Boehner and Pelosi is enough to make anybody go blind. LOL!

  17. Molly Pitcher says:

The battling idiots….Boehner vs. Biden. Boehner picks on an old lady, and Biden, young girls.
Really bad behavior by the people who hold high office. What Boehner missed in quantity (a la Biden), he made up for in his choice of place & time of offense: the floor of the House. I realize many of these folks have no sense of history or decorum, an element which is fast leaving our culture as a whole, but really! And Biden? I was watching on and off, and it was creepy & embarrassing to see each time.

    • lysie says:

I just read Biden’s comments about a fence….idiot!! Classless fool!!

    • lysie says:

Boehner picks on an elderly lady? I missed that one. Idiot, too.

    • lysie says:

How did the plumbing job go, Molly?

Rav, I just stepped off the scale. Once again, after the holidays and everything, I’m at my lowest weight in years. I plan to lose more.

    • The Raven says:

Great Lysie…I lost another 1.5 lbs yesterday…..also…remember that neighbor the better half wanted me to get the scoop on?…..well, another neighbor told me that they got a divorce. Only married 6 months.

    • lysie says:

If we keep losing weight maybe we can become models. LOL Nope! Not for me. I don’t want to look like Twiggy…ever.

What a shame re: neighbor’s divorce.

    • tillacum says:

Molly, Molly, Molly bad behavior began during the clinton era, stopped during Pres. Bush’s term. In 2009, the clinton baton of bad behavior was passed to the present renter of Our whitehouse which leaked into the houses of congress, senate and vice president.
I think these people need to purify the swamp water of Washington, D.C, because the effects keep getting horrendous, embarrassing and ludicouis.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Great on the diet news!

Plumbing so far so good…we are hoping the repair is final…no more work required!

So true till….seems like it’s spreading, tho.

  18. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  19. Prairie says:

Everybody! Happy New Year! I’ve been busy with end of the year and first of the year stuff, plus jams, park activities etc. Keeps me away from the news, which is good these days. Hope all are well here. Looks like terrible bitter cold coming in to the north…..ask me how glad we are that we aren’t in that cold…

    • Prairie says:

BTW, have you seen the injury picture of Harry Reid?

Looks like somebody beat him up, although it was supposedly a broken exercise band. FWIW, I disagree with the Powerline guys opinion that those bands don’t break….they can snap if they are old and have been used a lot, especially the cheaper ones.

I suppose I better stop my remarks about Reid at this point. 😀

    • The Raven says:

      Democrats in the news

Although it looks like Obama kissing Hillary, I think it is Boehner kissing Pelosi.

  20. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  21. The Raven says:

    More Democrats in the News
    – where there’s smoke….there’s fire

    Still More…..

A U.S. Appeals Court… denounced the full-dress SWAT raid in 2010 of the Strictly Skillz barbershop in Orange County, Florida, for “barbering” without a license. (All certificates were found to be up-to-date, and in fact, the raiding agency had verified the licenses in a walk-through two days before.)

    • lysie says:

That makes me angry. Where did respect for elders / vets go? Thank goodness my Gramp isn’t here to see what is happening. Love you Gramp. You taught me well.

  22. Molly Pitcher says:

New lexicon of Liberal Lies….for Raven, especially, from Powerline

  23. lysie says:

Great news wrap , Molly. Thanks.

    • lysie says:

      Elder….Like.

    • lysie says:

      Ack!

Windy and lake effect our way. Schools closed…The boys are in with plenty of hay and water. I’m NOT going out later.

Greg has a fire going in the wood-stove in the cellar. That will give us a comfy feeling upstairs ..here. Like you earlier Molly big pot of chicken veggie soup simmering in the crock pot to help keep us warm the next few days.

    • lysie says:

Amazing how quiet it can be when 2 visiting dogs are not here. Downright, almost boring..Keyword…almost.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

And you are enjoying the quiet? Visiting? Not yours?

We decided to go out for the Monday night cheap burgers special shortly. Haven’t been there since last summer.

    • lysie says:

      Visiting ..until..Sarah graduates in May.

      I have plans…then….knock a wall out…convert master bedroom into a living area and kitchen….perhaps…:-)

    • lysie says:

With the 2 other dogs gone the cats are actually looking at me…..saying….You are boring….entertain me….more…..

      Ha!

  24. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.
