How does 320 billion sound to you? That’s how much 0 wants to raise taxes. Apparently the economy isn’t hurting enough. He wants to add his own special sauce to the recipe. OK, R’s, here’s your opportunity to educate the voting public on government waste, the wickedness of redistribution and class envy. Go for it!

The President will roll out other plans in the SOTU, Tuesday night, AND we are promised, what Congress won’t address, he will thru Executive Orders when he can. Aren’t you tired of this ultimatum??

  1. Molly Pitcher says:

AS is well worth seeing. It’s pretty intense, but not as much as Lone Survivor was. Eastwood focuses the story line in Kyles 4 tours in Iraq on the hunting of this one deadly Iraqi sniper and the contest that develops between him and Kyle. Guess who won? In the home front segments, the movie focuses on the tension between Kyle’s desire and love for his family with that of the strong pull the mission back in Iraq has on him.

The ending is understated, quiet, dignified, powerful. It was really for me the worst part of the movie for this reason: I remember that day he was killed , hearing the news and how my heart sank for him and the recovery he was making…for his family. That awful feeling came back this afternoon.

The acting is super; the movie’s understanding of a warrior’s mentality clear. No wink, wink, we are pretending to respect these people, that’s all. No, the respect for the man with a certain code, living under the toughest of conditions, but still human is there in this movie.

    • The Raven says:

      Thanks for the review.

The left loves war movies where the soldier breaks down, and hates the US or later has mental problems. This one isn’t like that.

We’ll check it out next week (Also want to see The Imitation Game)

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  3. The Raven says:

Mitt in the news – drinking the Kool-Aid on Global Warming.

The real issue is a combination of:
    – Probability of Catastrophic harm (none of the models are accurate – all are over predicting)
    – Probability of avoidance programs working – ( If above is ugly, and we agree it is happening and not tautology !! )
    – Cost of avoidance programs
    – Probability of causing more harm to the world in avoidance programs

  4. Molly Pitcher says:

Well now one of 0’s “successes” has collapsed into chaos, but don’t worry everything is just perfect!

Did y’all hear about the President meeting with some You Tube artist Glo Zo, or some such name…in the WH.?? Something is seriously, very seriously wrong here, there, and with this person’s judgment.

  5. Molly Pitcher says:

NY Sheriff to Constituents: Keep your handguns This is Fulton county…..sounds like a pretty safe place to visit… lysie??

  6. Molly Pitcher says:

Fall of the House of Samuelson That’s Paul Samuelson, economist & Keynes follower. I still remember with disgust the h.s. text he wrote and I had to read my senior year. UGH!

  7. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Oh my!

      How you doing this a.m.?

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

That has about as much chance of coming true as a Democrat campaign promise.

      – The Raven, last night, to a liberal friend’s reference to a get rich quick scheme.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good! And what was his response?? I was pretty discouraged yesterday to see 0 out in Idaho, getting all that applause , admittedly from students, but still Idaho….Idaho! The last, or nearly so, bastion of the free and the brave, except for a small pocket or 2 like Coeur d’Alene. 0bysmal is really something taking advantage of students ignorance time after time.

What do you think is going to happen with the Patriots’ football investigation?

    • The Raven says:

Re: His response……..hurt puppy dog look ( I expected the typical denial and redirection to a Republican reference )
re: Idaho: His polls are down, ‘Pubs are up….time to spread propaganda. Don’t want the ‘Pubs overturning his agenda.
re:Football…slap on the wrist. Nothing before the SB

    • lysie says:

      Good morning, Molly and Rav.

We are doing well. Thanks, Molly.

      Good comeback, Rav.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

It’s always encouraging when young people seem to “get it”. This was not one of those moments, for sure. It was reported to be 0’s first visit to Idaho as Pres…so he hasn’t looked at it as friendly or noteworthy ground to demagogue in before. But yes, he’s probably desperate, or, it’s just another poke in the conservative’s eye.

Belichek going to speak in awhile….That concludes my interest in the whole affair.

    • tillacum says:

I like that coffee pot. When I have a group, I use my coffee pot to make tea. My
“elegant” sister has a hissy fit when she sees me do it. Everyone gets their tea at the same time, cause my tea pots are smaller. I use glass “Irish Coffee mugs” for my tea.

  8. tillacum says:

lysie, I think Valerie’s parents are still living in Iran. I think I read that somewhere. I think that’s the reason for the threat to the GOP, over Iran bills.
LOL, Molly, poooooor baarak is having a snit because Boehner has invited BIBi to speak?? AH, poor baby, baark probably thinks he’s the only one who can do that. While he’s a leader from behind (Valerie) he’s all most powerful to do the inviting. ?

  9. Molly Pitcher says:

Afternoon everyone. So….the WH is complaining about Boehner’s breach of protocol since the Speaker invited Netanyahu to speak before a joint session?!

    • lysie says:

AND…..O is threatening to veto any legislation that includes more sanctions against Iran if nuclear program talks fail. Do we really need more proof as to what side he is on?

  10. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  11. Molly Pitcher says:

    busy, again former Gitmo detainee…

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I wonder if I took enough pain meds I could watch the speech tonite, even muted??

    • edinva says:

Molly, there aren’t enough drugs in the world, recreational or rx, that would get me thru that speech.

    • lysie says:

I’m not going to watch or listen. I may watch Senator Joni Ernst of Iowa deliver the GOP response. That is, if I’m awake.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, I think I can stay awke, but 0 talks soooooo long, so the wait to hear her will be hard.

    • The Raven says:

Listening to him is akin to torture.

    • Jemian says:

Dropping in again to let y’all know I’m alive. We have major internet connectivity problems here. It was wonderful having fast internet back in the states. Here … at least we have something.

    • lysie says:

Just thinking about O speaking makes my skin crawl…Then, tomorrow we will have to endure all the news comments..

Calgon take me away!! Is that product available? Ha!

      Hi, Jem.

Miss your posts, but we understand. Just know that we think about you.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Evening all…agree, my question was rhetorical…definitely can’t listen to it.

Did y’all hear that Yemen is likely to fall to Iran sponsored’s been somewhat of a shelter for the Islamists for awhile, but all pretense may soon be swept away.

I revised the above comments after reading a little more on the subject. Not sure, but our embassy personnel may still be there, too.

  12. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • lysie says:

Oh my goodness, Molly. I just read about the Cincinnati overpass collapse.

    • The Raven says:

Imaginary scene in Wash DC of a biased reporter baiting a GOP Congressman

Biased reporter: Congressman – when will you enact President Obama’s sweeping tax reforms which will help the middle class?
Congressman: President Obama needs to raise taxes because of his failures as a President. He has selfishly showered our future in a titanic debt and littered the government with unworkable programs. For me, the highest priority is to halt these unnecessary programs and begin paying for the debt. As for raising taxes, that will slow growth and decrease revenue. Right now, we need more growth and more revenue, so why would we do that? Do your Democrat talking points cover that point Mr Journalist?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      oh dear….hadn’t heard that…good morning..

    • lysie says:

Love the Congressman’s answer in your imaginary scene , Rav.

I’d vote for you and Molly.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

That I-75 bridge collapse…could have been much worse. It had been replaced, but not demolished …yet. Now it is, and 1 dead. 1 truck driver injured…very lucky.

We went to one of those special Fathom events at the movie theater to see a documentary about the evidence for/against the Exodus…we really got a lot out of it, with only a couple of questions and quibbles….learned a lot about the archeology, what various experts say, etc. It was pretty well attended. The theater as a whole with two screens available for AS was quiet.

I do highly recommend the Fathom offerings now available fairly widely at theaters: sporting events, cultural offerings on a big screen. I would like to see an opera and a ballet later this winter and then in the spring, but not sure if our schedule will work out.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

Obama was asked about whether raising the capital gains tax is something he would support even — this was a famous question asked by Charlie Gibson in the run-up to the 2008 campaign — even if it lowered revenues, which it does, which is of course totally illogical; you raise taxes to bring in revenue. Obama’s answer, a famous answer, was, yes, in the name of ‘fairness.
This is a man who wants to punish the rich regardless of its effect on the economy

      -Charles Krauthammer.

  13. Prairie says:

Good evening everyone. Great article somebody posted from Mark Steyn last night……James Taylor and John Kerry……pfffft! Well nothing should surprise us any more.

Lots going on this week. The park has a craft fair tomorrow and I’m helping out. Also having a High Tea on Saturday and my best friend is in charge of the food, so of course I’ll be helping her a lot. Almost 150 tickets sold. That’ll be a lot of cucumber sandwiches…….

I’m trying to get on Cinemark’s website to see when American Sniper plays tomorrow but their website must be getting hammered, I can’t get it to come up at all. Perhaps we’ll have to wait for the crowds to thin out a bit. It’ll be nice to watch about a real American hero. Something Stinky will never approach nor understand.

  14. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    Thanks for the start, Molly.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Thanks for the breakfast lysie.
      A Snowy good morning…maybe 2 inches overnight…light stuff.

    • The Raven says:

      >> “… to educate the voting public on government waste, the wickedness of redistribution and class envy.”

      I vote for Molly !!!!

I’m convinced Dems are not capable of being educated unless hard times fall on them. Notice Obama wants all this at the end of his term, as well as climate change. He knows the result.

But educating the kids and independents?? Worth a shot — but where is the Ronald Reagan?

Once when I was at a work during a stock market crash I yelled to a co-worker “Sell” and he yelled back “To Who?” — same thing here……..

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      And good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

the next Ronald Reagan…you know his was a life-long study of liberalism – as we now call it – at various levels of government and community involvement. He knew what he was talking and writing about.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Looks like most are taking the 0 tax hike for what it is: a very cynical way to avoid discussing the country’s real problems and provide the Dems with left wing talking points.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Did y’all hear about this gift? Always nice to read some good news..

    • lysie says:

Thanks for the good news link. Molly.

As I have said many times , progressives will never…ever …admit that their policies are wrong. (or at least VERY few) Instead, what they do is come up with more far-reaching policies to prove they are right. In other words…they are MULISH!!

Till sent this to me in an email. It’s a good video.
      Gun Control for Dummies.

    • The Raven says:

I liked the video…..(not the part about the 3rd Amend.) …..

      Democrats in the news

      1) American Sniper attacked by usual cowards. Reason? Kyle didn’t act like a victim with PTSD

      2) This is New England’s first trip to the Super Bowl without cheating.
      Oops…wait a minute, there’s this.

  15. edinva says:

This will be, what? My 7th consecutive missed SOTU? I’m pretty sure that’s the night I sort sox. I honestly can no longer even bear to see his picture or hear his voice. Amazing to me he still has admirers.

Let’s see how the Republicans act. Hopefully there won’t be a lot of whooping and cheering when he arrives. I’d prefer the NYPD/deBlasio treatment, myself. Or just the silent treatment would be nice. Perhaps some barely civil applause for the Office (think Laugh In), but showing contempt for the person holding it, nothing more/nothing less. Yes, of course, be civil and stand. Again, only for the Office.

Are we excited about the Super Bowl teams? I don’t even watch NFL any more, and like the SOTU haven’t watched a Super Bowl since I can’t remember when. I wait for March Madness. THAT is my idea of fun sports.

Hope everyone has a marvelous week ahead.

    • tillacum says:

I’m with you edivna. I think I’ll do take apart a necklace I started, but don’t care for the design, I thought would be wonderful. Hubby will watch, bless his heart. He believes
one must watch and listen to the opposition.
I watched the second half, yesterday, between Seahawks and Packers. The first half was so bad, we did some work in the community garden. Got back to see “my” team win. It was a nail biter.

  16. tillacum says:

Honestly Molly, this creature in our whitehouse, gives me a pain in the area I place on a chair. I don’t do headstands.
