    T G I F

    Seven No Trump !!!

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Jemian says:

      Good morning. Thanks for breakfast.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning. about an inch of **** overnight…didn’t expect to see it either…

    • lysie says:

      Good morning ladies.

Just a dusting here, Molly. Is your area going to get the warm weather like we are?

    • tillacum says:

Good Morning. Today our temps are supposed to be in the mid 70s, 74 degrees according to the weatherman. Beginning this weekend we’re supposed to be in the mid 70s and about next Thursday, it’s to drop down to 59. This weather is not good for the plants. They don’t know what they’re supposed to do.

    • lysie says:

Good morning, till. It’s hard for me to relate. Plants? This time of year? LOL

Seriously, I hope the temperatures don’t fluctuate that much.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Hi ladies…
lysie…we will get the warm weather, yes, but today it’s back to winter. Look out!

Am cleaning out my email files…wow, they sure accumulate! Anyone watch the debate?
Sounds like Rubio may have bested Cruz, but I heard a couple of excellent answers from Cruz…Surprising about Huckabee and Santorum joining Trump.

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  4. The Raven says:

    Morning Quotes:

On politics and policy he is a leap into the known unknown. That so many voters seem willing to take this leap suggests how far confidence in American political leaders has fallen

    …WSJ ed. on Trump

Simply being secretary of state does not allow Hillary Clinton to ‘authorize herself’ to deviate from the requirements of retaining and transmitting classified documents, materials, and information

Ken Cuccinelli [note by Rav – I think Hillary is not using her power of Sec State, rather that she is a Clinton and that grants her the needed power to authorize herself]

  5. Prairie says:

Thank you all for the nice comments about our Benefit Concert. I should’ve added that even after we supplied the required funds to the Kids Against Hunger satellite for purchase the food (always a requirement to have an event)…and after we purchase 3000 lbs of rice locally……we will still be sending several hundreds of dollars back to the satellite in a cash donation. I still can’t get over it.

The shootings in Oregon by the feds, killing one and injurying another are absolutely inexcuseable. We won’t hear much about it though….they were only white men, you know….

  6. lysie says:

Another photo of my hometown during the Blizzard of ’66. The 50th anniversary is in a few days. Check out the price of turkey. LOL

  7. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  8. Prairie says:

Good evening everybody, checking in briefly. I don’t think that I reported back after our Benefit Concert…..if I did, forgive the 2nd recap. Basically it was a HUGE success….180 in attendance (a very, very good number) and instead of raising our $600 goal, we raised $2000. Amazing! We had many nice compliments on the entertainment and a good time was had by all. So, now we will package more food on the 6th of Feb. Putting out the word for more volunteers and trusting God will provide them since he provided so abundantly in the fundraising.

FoxNews reported that Trump won’t be participating in the next debate because they won’t pull Megan Kelly. How special……….

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hello! Congrats on the big draw and money raised! No you are not repeating yourself. 😊

    • Jemian says:

Congratulations on the successful concert. That is such a good feeling.

About Trump not being in the debate, I have a different take on it. It isn’t a real debate. It is more like a gang press conference. There has never been real questions put to the candidates. Softballs about fluff items are thrown to the favorite candidates and gotcha questions, or ludicrous questions are put to the candidates out of the press’s favor. Candidates are not questioned across the board, nor is there time for rebuttal. Frankly, I don’t see why any candidate goes to any of these silly things put on by the lamestream and I applaud someone, even if it is Trump, for declining the “honor.”

    • The Raven says:

      Debate is now

Cruz; Rubio; Carson; Bush; Christie; Kasich; Paul.

      – Fox bids Seven No Trump !!! Hah!

      Quote:

But you know what? If he’s afraid of Megyn Kelly, if he’s afraid of you, and afraid of Hannity, and afraid of Rush, then we could do without any moderators whatsoever. I’m happy to go an hour-and-half mano a mano me and Donald with no moderators anytime before the Iowa caucuses.”

      – Ted Cruz on Mark Levin offering to debate Trump one on one

    • lysie says:

Wonderful report on your benefit, Prairie. I wish I could help.

  9. lysie says:

True godliness does not turn men out of the world, but enables them to live better in it and excites their endeavors to mend it.

    ~ William Penn

  10. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for checking in, ed. What a mess!

    • The Raven says:

Speaking of getting indicted – The jury didn’t indict Planned Parenthood, but rather the two undercover anti-abortion people who exposed their crimes. What a country!

    • The Raven says:

There is a NY Post article rating all the presidents since FDR from first to last. I read them from last to first and was thinking it may be OK since they had Carter dead last and Obama near the bottom, but when I got to first place, I couldn’t believe it.

    • lysie says:

      Who was first?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, who was it?? Who did the ratings?? That would give us a clue.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Indeed…ED. I just ate up your report…..after lysie’s breakfast of course….sounds like a few more days of intense snow removal. I’ll head over to help, oh yes :^)

    • Molly Pitcher says:

That indictment is so disheartening. The wrong people are being prosecuted, for pete’s sake!

    • lysie says:

Yes. That indictment is directed toward the wrong people. Wrong, wrong, wrong!!

    • The Raven says:

Who is the last person you’d pick as best president from far through Zero…..if you know Carter and Obama aren’t it.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

So how is life on the Florida Gulf Coast?

    • lysie says:

I know my choice, but could their choice be Clinton or JFK?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

LBJ.? ? Big ugh, if that is the answer…

Sounds like the Olympic committee is giving into transgender nonsense…good bye fair competition, if do. The new rules proposed would rely on “self identification”. That’s all.

    • lysie says:

Next, will people insist that their dog is a cat or their cat is a dog.? Wait, better yet…they are a dog or cat. Ha! Maddening!

    • The Raven says:

Yes, Molly p I come to you with a heavy heart. It was LBJ. They don’t treat the deficit correctly. They took points from Reagan for increasing the deficit to defeat the Soviets. They don’t dock lbj for the welfare state deficits that persisted for decades. Obama used deficit spending to prop the economy and transfer wealth.

    • lysie says:

      That is insane. LBJ? Insane.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Wow….a correct guess. LBJ’s dishonesty , etc. can never be forgotten.

    • edinva says:

lysie .. breakfast lookin’ mighty good! Thanks.

Headed out from Alexandria to Reston, VA this morning, a bit after 7am. Trepidation was quickly allayed, as we got to the major roads which were well cleared the entire route. (Beltway and Dulles Toll Rd to those familiar with the area). Cheers to the road crews! Upon my return, I was stopped because a jackass spun out and drove right into a 4-5′ snowbank that had to be like hitting a concrete wall. I hope no one was seriously hurt, but there were those driving as if the roads were totally clear, no possibility of ice, and no one else driving on them, either. Otherwise, it was smooth sailing.

One more week and Iowans hit their cauci. Has this been the longest primary pre-season ever, or is it just me? The intensity is amazing, at least on the R side. Ds are pretty sedentary. “They” always say there are only 3 tickets out of IA. So, I suppose that will be Cruz, Rubio and Trump if polling means anything. Not that others won’t hang in for the fun of it.

As to Hillary’s potential indictment, words is the FBI is good to go, but who knows what the AG might do. Would her interfering be obstruction of justice? Or maybe the FBI wants to wait to se how the election goes. Wouldn’t want a last minute Obama pardon, would they?

The only positive about the indictment of the PP undercover investigators would be that the whole thing would get more publicity. How is it that 60 Minutes was never indicted? Just curious. And disgusted. We certainly live in interesting times.

    • lysie says:

Wow, ed! So happy the stupid driver didn’t hit you…I pray no injuries, also.

I can’t seem to keep up with some of the cr@p going on with politics these days. Are they? Is he? Did he do it? Well, maybe he did. Sort of.
      Is there no honesty today???

  11. Molly Pitcher says:

For evening reading…Americans tired of Elites Michael Barone

    • Jemian says:

Speaking of elites and one of its queens, re: will Hillary be indicted?

No, I do not think she will. If anyone had the testosterone to indict her, it would have happened already. She will get a pass and be bothering us for many years to come.

    • The Raven says:

      Nice quote from Barone:

“… the underside of a European multiculturalism that insists that all cultures are morally equal, except ours, which is worse.”

      – So that’s it. Those who want death to infidels (us) are equal to us. That is being told to me by an elite who is not equal to me– who is superior to me. Now that I’m clear, I can sleep better.

    • The Raven says:

I see the Hillary email going one of two directions:

      1) She cops to a misdemeanor similar to Petraeus and the whole thing is pooh poohed. Her staff is scolded for not advising her correctly. Slap on the wrist. Let’s move-on.
      2) The government slow walks the investigation and isn’t anywhere near a decision in 2018.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

“What difference does it make?” that question keeps rolling around in my brain.

  12. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      What an inviting breakfast!

    • lysie says:

      Looks good to me, too.

      How is your throat?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

How are the boys doing these winter days? Do they sense spring is getting closer?

    • lysie says:

Good that you are better. Keep doing what you are doing. (((hugs)))

It doesn’t seem to matter to them. Although , since PB is 26 years old I make sure he doesn’t go out when there is heavy snow and wind. Plus, with the round bales undercover outside they have plenty of “fuel” to keep them warm.

When I let them out in the morning the roll around in the snow. LOL

    • Molly Pitcher says:

It’s better…my upper chest gets congested too. I ended up taking some Mucinex….lots of water…

    • The Raven says:

Seeing Molly’s post below about her current book … got me thinking … how about …. maybe once/quarter or so, we weigh in on what we are reading.

      My current tally….

      – Fools, Frauds and Firebrands: Thinkers of the New Left , Scruton (Just started, pretty good so far)
      – Rogue Lawyer, Grisham (Opposite of can’t put it down)
      – How to Beat the Democrats and Other Subversive Ideas, Horowitz ( Read the first chapter and probably won’t continue)
      – Life on the Edge: The Coming of Age of Quantum Biology, Mcfadden (far out stuff…..and explanations for how birds can navigate their migrations)

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Of course…we should mention books more often. Excellent idea…and so far, as to #, you have me beat Raven

    • edinva says:

G’day, Lysie, Molly Rav, Jem, all

Post Jonas Report from somewhere in Northern Virginia:
OK, so it’s 9:50pm, Monday, January 25, 2016. Snow up to HERE. And the govt will decide/announce by 10:00pm whether or not they will open tomorrow and if they open, under what circumstances. I recognize closing the govt costs taxpayers a small fortune but opening tomorrow under the present circumstances is asking for trouble. The main roads (i.e., a 6-lane hwy) may have a lane cleared in either direction. Forget about it if you’re tucked away on a cul de sac in a subdivision… you won’t see a plow till Wednesday by which time it will be too late because we’re supposed to get showers tmo, and temps in the 40s (where they were mid-day today). Schools in all but DC (pending) announced they’re closed tomorrow and some on Wed, depending on where they are … some areas a county or two out from DC didn’t get as much snow s others. Some got 30″ which starts to get to your CNY territory, lysie.

The blessing was that we didn’t lose power. Not even a flicker. SO thankful. And, the entire weekend was (from my house-bound perspective) just fabulous. Son Matt came up from Richmond Thursday night, arriving around midnight Friday. Snow started here a bit after noon on Friday, and didn’t stop till midnight Saturday/Sunday. We played board games, put together a 1000 piece puzzle, read, napped, ate, ate, and ate. Every comfort food known to God and man. Tomorrow we have to drive Matt out to Reston because the company he is starting his new job with is open tomorrow .. even tho Metro service out there is not restored yet. Don’t know what they’re thinking! Probably half of the staff won’t make it, but the
      new kid certainly will.

I subscribe to the online local paper for the lower Hudson Valley in NY, wherein is located the quaint village of Chappaqua, home to former POTUS Slick WIllie and ole “What Difference Now Does it Make.” Apparently, the Bernie folks have been showing up in town and especially at the commuter train station (closed due to snow for now) handing out Bernie leaflets. I would remind you that her book signing last year was scheduled at the Chappaqua library and 45 neighbors showed up. (that’s vs. the city people who lined up around the block).

    • edinva says:

OK, the Feds are closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 26, 2016. No excuse to have put people off till 10:00pm. All the decision-makers would have had to do is look out the window. I normally have zero sympathy for most govt workers, but for families with one or two parents working for the govt* not knowing what would happen, having kids’ schools closed, presents some serious issues. I had suggested the Feds could drop off the OPM decision maker(s) where I used to live, where they won’t see a plow till Wednesday (if lucky), and make a decision from there. (* most employers in the region follow the U.S. Govt closing/delay schedules). BTW, Metro service is half-restored. Opening the govt tmo would have been a first-class nightmare.

  13. Molly Pitcher says:

Looks like it’s Broncos vs Panthers…

    • Jemian says:

Good morning. I’m tired. It is already a busy week. And, it looks like hubby is going to Singapore later for a colonoscopy. Prolly not this week, but the first week in Feb.

Super Bowl 50 is looking good as far as I’m concerned. AU is represented on both teams by Demarcus Ware and Cam Newton and the QB for the Broncos is a UT boy. That means SEC all the way!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning Jemian…I had lunch last week with an old friend whose son is a missionary in the far East. His time is winding down there tho… My friend will make one more trip over there in the spring to see him and his family, but they will spend most of the time in Thailand.

    • Jemian says:

I also forgot to say, thanks for getting us started this week. It is hard to know when to quit. We’re a point when we are homesick no matter where we are.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

You are welcome, and your feelings are understandable. My friend said her son is worried about his return too…not fitting in. You and they are in my prayers.
BTW, I just finished Son of Hamas….ever read it?

    • Jemian says:

No, I haven’t. I’ll have to put it on my list.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

The book covers, among other things, a Palestinian Muslim’s journey to the Christian faith.

    • The Raven says:

      Yes…..

      Vols v. War Eagle.
      Bronco defense vs Carolina Offense.
      Payton v. Cam
      Old v New
      Age v Beauty
      R’s v D’s

Panthers are favored by 4 in Vegas. (But they had the Broncos wrong yesterday by about the same)

    • Jemian says:

I just purchased Son of Hamas. I’ll be starting it tonight. Thanks.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Ok! I must tell you…it took me awhile to read it…picked it up and put it down for weeks at a time. In the end am glad I finished it tho. What made me ask you about it was that his change of heart and mind came obviously in a very hostile environment, and missionaries were part of the story.
