America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- February 1, 2016 – February 5, 2016 Remember 9/11

The Great Iowa Primary Day of 2016 has finally arrived!

On one side, it’s Trump vs. Cruz vs. Rubio vs. the Blizzard.

And on the other, it’s Detached from the Truth Hillary! vs. Detached from Reality Bernie. Choose your poison.

As for me, I’m trying to find the humor in all this…keep my perspective, and not get too cynical, but some days it’s hard….really, really hard.

I apologize in advance. This country song got stuck in my mind a couple of days ago and it won’t go away. I read someplace if you pass it off to someone else, it will leave you.

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

I was sitting here with my coffee wondering how my life would change if I became a radical. I could say I’m gonna catch the Bern. I could defend open borders. I could demand $15 minimum wages. I can buy an electric car and spew the evils of coal. I could explain the global warming pause. I could sell my guns. Or better yet, I could keep my guns and tell you to sell yours. I could explain why Christians are bad and Muslims & secularists are good. I could blame all economic problems on the 1%, the Republicans, and especially Bush. I could explain Iran. I could even defend the Rosenberg’s. I could explain why healthcare is the number one problem even though it was just solved with Obamacare. I could rewrite history so you wouldn’t recognize it (with references)-I can tell you why communism and socialism will work next time and why Keynesianism will work next time. I’d be for my freedom to take away yours.

Just think….Then all those liberals I know would stop arguing with me. Yeppers…I’d be one with the propaganda.

Hah!! But, then again, maybe not. I wouldn’t be here, would I? I’d be over at KOS.

Can’t do it. TGIF- Good AM all. Cruz/Trump/Rubio tied

    • Molly Pitcher says:

That looks so tasty! thanks lysie
Good morning everyone…..Debate? Did anyone have the stomach to watch Bernie and Hillary! Show?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

What a thought experiment??! Raven….don’t go there….think of another one, like taking the photograph of the year….fishing and catching the Big One….winning the lottery….did you hear about the CA win that is going unclaimed??

    • The Raven says:

yep…heard about the CA lottery. There was one guy who said he won but his ticket was damaged.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

So does the state keep the money then? Before it wildly spends it, I mean…
How about Jimmy Carter endorsing Cruz? That is a good laugh or two…

    • The Raven says:

Unclaimed cash goes to a liberal charity… and Carter with Cruz??? Somebody is teasing you

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, Carter picked Trump, but the way he said it…Cruz is picking up on it in a funny ad…using it to his (Cruz’s) benefit.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Raven I was able to download some of that Constitution project, but the service and vehicle they used was not familiar to me …don’t think I got all the parts…

    • The Raven says:

Yep…I eventually downloaded the document….I had the app on my iPad but not my laptop.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote

The world has never had a good definition of the word liberty, and the American people, just now, are much in want of one. We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men’s labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name, liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names, liberty and tyranny. The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep’s throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as a liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty, especially as the sheep was a black one. Plainly the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of the word liberty.

Morning quotes (do you see a pattern):

“… shut up or I’ll kill us both”

      – Johnny Manziel to his girlfriend last week

“… “It is with deep regret that, after several emotional and very personal discussions with his family, his doctors, and my client himself, I have made the decision to terminate my professional relationship with Johnny Manziel”

      – Erik Burkhardt, Johnny’s agent

“… I truly believe if they can’t get him help, he won’t live to see his 24th birthday,”

      – Johnny’s father, Paul Manziel

“…. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules. We will have no further comment at this time.”

      – Browns executive vice president Sashi Brown on Johnny’s last day as a Brown

    • lysie says:

      What a shame.

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  4. The Raven says:

    Morning Quote:

“The inequity of our criminal justice system is on full display right on this podium right here. So I gave $20,000 of my own money over the campaign finance limit. I got 8 months in overnight confinement. You bombed the Pentagon and tried to bomb all kinds of other things — how much time did you do in the slammer?”

Dinesh D’Souza in a debate with Bill Ayers after Ayers brought up D’Souza’s campaign finance violation.

    • lysie says:

THAT hits the nail on the head. I know why Ayers is not in jail, but that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be. Life in prison, no parole, should be his sentence.

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

How you doing this a.m.? And Raven too?
We went to Tues. senior movies yesterday, and saw Finest Hours….There was an exciting story in that movie, but it got bogged down in some poor acting, characterizations, and secondary plotting. UGH. I left the theatre in a bad mood.

    • lysie says:

Thanks for asking, Molly. I’m a little better. I can move my right arm better. The pain/kink seems to have moved more to the middle of my back.

I just wish I knew what I did. I must be more aware.

Why do movie producers, writers, directors and actors have to do that to a good plot/event?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

So you don’t feel a “shock” at the time….say after lifting something? Then that would be hard to figure out, yes.

    • lysie says:

Whatever I’m doing I’m not aware of a strain or injury until the next day.

Fifty plus degrees and raining. The snow will be gone today.

    • The Raven says:

The dog aches go away quickly.

      Morning quote:

[Socialism is ] a state in which a person who has not committed any crime sits at home waiting for the police, in which there are more spies than nurses and more people in prisons than in hospitals, in which one is forced to resort to lies…in which a person who does not think at all lives better — and which wants all citizens to have the same opinions in philosophy, economics, literature, and ethics, in which the philosopher and writers always say the same thing as the generals and ministers, but always after them, in which one must each day refute what one affirmed the day before and always believe it to be the same.

-Prof Leszek Kolakowski, in one of his essays entitled “What is Socialism?”

  7. The Raven says:

Wow….looking at Iowa voters….huge increase in young people becoming commie pinkos. That has to be schools, media, and Obama. What happens when they get older? Is all lost? Do we watch our nation commit suicide?

    Morning quote:

Perhaps, at first, prejudice, habit, shame or fear, principle or religion, would restrain the poor from attacking the rich, and the idle from usurping on the industrious; but the time would not be long before courage and enterprise would come, and pretexts be invented by degrees, to countenance the majority in dividing all the property among them, or at least, in sharing it equally with its present possessors. Debts would be abolished first; taxes laid heavily on the rich, and not at all on the others; and at last a downright equal division of everything be demanded, and voted. What would be the consequence of this? The idle, the vicious, the intemperate would rush into the utmost extravagance of debauchery, sell and spend their share, and then demand a new division of those who purchased from them.

  8. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. I did it again. Just when the left shoulder pulled muscle or whatever was healing, I pulled a right side shoulder muscle. Hurts all the way from neck to shoulder blade. I’m resting today. Ouch.

    • The Raven says:

I know what you mean, Lysie. We have two dogs and one was raised at our old house where proper leash manners were taught. She walks on leash like a show dog. Our yellow lab, however, was at our lake house where he runs free, and doesn’t know what a leash is except now. He is in dog heaven here with all the squirrels. But he’s going to rip my arm out. I AM SO SORE!!! When you buy a lab at the pet store, they should give you a tube of Ben Gay as well. Or maybe a tow hitch to have them plow the lower forty. I bought one of those “no pull” leashes and he yanked so hard, he bent the steel guide. I sent a picture to the people who make the leash and they sent a new one but I haven’t opened it. There are 4 different no-pulls on the market and we’ve been through them all. I bought a choker but I’m saving that for last. I’m not sure he would survive a yank on that.

    • lysie says:

Take it easy, Rav. I wish I knew what I did to get these injuries….Then, I would stop doing it. 🙂

    • Molly Pitcher says:

oh my gosh, it hurts just to read that! There are some good topical ointments to use…Biofreeze is one. I use that on my neck and shoulders…sometimes my knees….

    • lysie says:

Yes, I’ve heard of Biofreeze. I need to get a gallon of that. LOL

    • Molly Pitcher says:

And you Raven that is hard to read, too. I have had several friends pulled down, falling to the ground injured by their big dogs…they are all about our age….just not good. One of them now needs rotator cuff surgery.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hillary! seems to be ignoring her close “win” and claiming total victory, lol! The markets are going down again today, but somehow, with this Iowa event, there seems to be light at the end of the dark tunnel…

    • The Raven says:

What is truly amazing… not that Clinton was just declared the victor (not by much … 700 for the liar to 695 delegates for the communist)…but that she won by five delegates – and she won those five delegates in five districts by flip of a coin. She was 5 for 5 in coin tosses and won by 5.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

oh my….did not know that. Well, she will now be shreeking her way thru N.H….Good luck to those people.

    • tillacum says:

That’s terrible, take it easy today. Good Morning.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning till . Nice and sunny here so it is an extra good morning, imo.

    • Jemian says:

I’m sorry. I hope your shoulder feels better soon. (((Lysie)))

    • lysie says:

Thanks, Jem. I”m feeling a little better.

  9. Jemian says:

Well, I don’t mind admitting it. I was wrong. I thought Cruz would finish dead last because of the voter record mailing. I’m not an Iowan and it made me totally angry.

    But, he won!

And that is why I’m not a gambling man. LOL!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

That voter mailing was a bad call, but it’s been used before. I have gotten one of those here in Ohio. Maybe this will be the end of it. Not a change factor tho, because I think folks are putting things like that to the side, and are looking at the BIG picture…

    • The Raven says:

Yesterday, I looked at map of evangelical support in Iowa (the people who voted for Hucklebee and Santorum in the past) and wondered why Cruz wasn’t ahead of Trump. Guess he was, after all. But the media will soon paint Cruz as the devil himself and there will be 24/7 Borking of him (plus- liberal New Hampshire is next)

  10. Prairie says:

Hello everybody. Jemian, your neighbors sound positively awful. Remember this whenever they stop making noise and then regale them with loud heavy metal or something at 5 AM when they are trying to catch up on their sleep. Sheesh.

Well, this is the final week before our big food-packaging event on Saturday. Everything seems to be coming together….all because of God’s hand on it. I officially called our volunteer list “filled” as of today. On Thursday Mr. Prairie will buy 3200 lbs of rice and it will be delivered and off-loaded into our Rec Hall. Friday afternoon the other large quantities of food arrives, again to be off-loaded and Saturday morning, the fun begins! Please keep us in your prayers for health, for strength and endurance. And for the Lord to bind and confound any efforts by the Evil One to cause trouble. We expect to package 150 boxes…..5000 packets of food, which will go to 7 food pantries. All are glad to be getting it. We are hosting the 5 people from the Corpus satellite overnight here in the park, in addition to having one couple sleep in our extra bed, I have two other homes ready to have overnight guests. We are also having a Team potluck on Friday night and expect 18-19 here for dinner. Well, we have to eat, right?

The Good Book instructs us to be hospitable. I’ll try to check in but things will be getting really busy by Thursday. Have a good and safe week everybody and I’ll be back next week if not before.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Fantastic report. prairie may the Lord bless your work and your fellow providers. Take care!

    • Jemian says:

The neighbors were quiet through the night last night. I am thankful.

I don’t think the neighbors are awful. They are doing what is appropriate for their tribe, following its mores and customs. I’m the visitor here and must adapt. At times I find it harder to adapt than other times.

Some FB friends suggested we join the party and dance, too. They have no idea about the tribal dances and what they signified. It appeared that it wasn’t just about celebrating the New Year, but also spouse selection. I couldn’t reply about this on FB because my neighbors also read FB. I did go to the party for a little while, but since I’m not seeking a spouse, nor do I like to eat papeda (which has the consistency and less taste than that liquid glue, mouselage) and grubs.

I’m just glad that celebration is over.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Extra info is helpful, Jemian.

  11. Molly Pitcher says:

Surge or no surge? Sounds like voting is about get underway. Fox News has reporters everywhere, it seems like.
We took a break from the news and other things and headed to a bar on our side of town for the Monday night 2 for price of 1 hamburger deal. Yummy. And we are so good…we skip the fries, and have salads, too.

  12. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Let’s have breakfast with Zoe and edinva. 🙂

As we travel through the rest of our day, may the God of hope fill us with joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in hope.

  13. edinva says:

Molly .. the sun will come out tomorrow … or Tuesday… or maybe not. The blizzard thru the midwest has the potential to create total havoc (like it hasn’t been already?) The result wouldn’t reflect any true sense of the voters of IA. Oh, well. Victory would belong to whomever would face the elements, i.e., crawl on glass, to get out and vote. Don’t know who set IA as a great place to begin this whole business. It’s cold and bitter there in February every year. NH too.
