Yikes! This is the last weekend in July 2016. Doesn’t seem possible.

A memorial for slain Navy SEAL and “American Sniper” author Chris Kyle has been unveiled in Odessa, Texas. It is the city where he was born.

I just started a new book:

The Pity Party: A Mean-Spirited Diatribe Against Liberal Compassion
    by William Voegeli

    and it is really good.

Great insight into the lib mind and why they are doing this to us,

    Good morning everyone.

Good morning….horrible to see the flash flooding in e. Maryland…sure hope that is over. So dangerous

I know I’m not a good person when my sympathies for Baltimore are so limited. There is an area that’s pretty with old houses, art galleries etc. … maybe 5 blocks in the entire city. The rest is gross, mostly burned out ghetto. They redid the Inner Harbor as a showcase some years ago and that lasted maybe five years. As far as I’m concerned they’ve brought it on themselves, electing loser after loser after loser. The very definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result right? If it weren’t for Johns Hopkins, “Charm City,” as it’s called, would be the “Motor City’s” ugly twin.

Here’s more on the most qualified individual to run for President and also the answer to the trivia question “What was the biggest lie Obama has ever told?”

If I haven’t stated this here before: WHY was it ‘inappropriate” not to mention “outrageous” that Mrs. Smith spoke of her son’s murder in Benghazi at the RNC but it was A-OK for the Khans to speak at the DNC of their Marine son’s being killed in Afghanistan (maybe Iraq, I can’t remember). Is there a significant difference making one ‘inappropriate’ and/or ‘outrageous’ while the other is just wonderful and inspiring, and warrants an untold number of MSM interviews ?? Yes, we’re sorry for each and every family’s loss of a son or daughter to war. Each and every one. But the DNC and the Khans are using each other for their own agendas. Khans trying to show a Muslim has died for the USA and that’s supposed to cancel out all the atrocities committed by Muslims against Americans and/or Christians????

Today we had a lovely visit with my nephew, his wife and son, who were returning to their FL home from her family’s biennial reunion, ALWAYS a week or two after I’ve been at the same place on Long Beach Island, NJ. Not at all the “Jersey Shore” of reality TV fame, more a family-centered destination with nary a chain restaurant or hotel on the whole island. Anyway we met up in Old Town Alexandria, and all my adult children made it. I wasn’t sure DD, SIL and baby would make it as they only returned from Japan last night… but they fought off jet lag to meet us. Nephew’s family has a longer drive ahead to FL than DD did returning by air from Japan.

Had to return to my retina doc yesterday for an emergency visit and another shot of avastin. It grosses people out when I say I got a shot in my eyeball, but it’s easier, far easier, than a simple blood draw, and only takes an instant. This whole getting old thing ain’t what it’s cracked up to be!!

Tomorrow we’re going back to that Catholic Church on Capital Hill that we’ve come to enjoy. Racially mixed congregation with heavy emphasis on black/Baptist chorus music … actually a LOT of fun. The pastor is Msgr. Pope whose writings are frequently posted at FB. Very prolific writer/articulate speaker, easy going man, so the sermons are good, too. Even if the Mass does last TWO HOURS!!!

We’ve had a break in the weather, hot but not miserable. Brief, heavy rain early this afternoon where sons live, nowhere else in the immediate area. Sounds like Florida! I’ll take it.

Great report, ED…. Except for your eye issues. Please take care…Capitol Hill churches…the Capitol Hill Baptist church is one I want return to….lots and lots of congregational singing, plus exceptional expository preaching, plus a very mixed congregation across ages and races and backgrounds.
Glad your family had a wonderful, if brief , reunion.
At a major park here we found a gathering of Mustangs….very cool to see the different license plates and variations in the design details. Found it by accident.

We haven’t watched tv for over a day now, and that is not a bad thing.

    • lysie says:

Ed, so happy you had a great time with family. That’s what it is all about.

  5. Molly Pitcher says:

Wow…great news about the memorial…the triple play…Good, good things to focus on..

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

Yes…last week in July !! And the DNC convention is OVER !!!!
My wife was asking me why the Democrats were talking so stupid about Trumps’s tongue in cheek joke about the Russians finding the emails of Bill’s wife. I explained that the Dems have this rather effective strategy of coming up with something outrageous (Trump treason) to take the conversation off of what they don’t want you to talk about (her emails were hacked by the Russians). Over the years they use this a lot. (Rush Limbaugh always falls for it).

PS: What a beautiful picture (Kyle memorial)

      PPS Another triple play yesterday

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Where we are for the next 2 nights…the hotel is undergoing some renovation…well a few minutes ago the fire alarm went off…so we gathered some things and started to head down the stairs, and we are on the 7th floor, but as soon as we opened the stairway door, the alarm stopped. Some woman was peeking her head out her door, and promptly shut it. It makes you think about having items handy tho.
Recently there was a deadly motel fire near home, and this is the 3rd time in several decades of travel that we’ve had this happen. The second time we had to spend a couple of hours in the middle of the night away from the hotel, while all was checked out.

    • lysie says:

Scary Molly. Good to know that you stay aware.

Rav, yes. That has been the dems strategy for years. While their offenses are far, far worse if they point to some small error that a pub makes, they and the press jump on it like a dog eating a piece of steak.

That triple play…they made it look easy.
