America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- December 19, 2016 – December 23, 2016 Remember 9/11

The Electoral College meets today so…we finally get to see just how many faithless electors there are, rather than deal with all the speculation.

2 Cabinet posts remain for P-E Trump to fill.

  1. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  2. The Raven says:

    Morning quote:

The nation rejected his agenda. The president’s response? To shove more of that agenda down the nation’s gullet

-WSJ’s Kim Strassel on O’s last minute regulation outburst.

  3. The Raven says:

Interesting. The German terrorist was killed in Milan, Italy — within walking distance of where my company’s office was. I was there many, many times over the years. Wonder why he was there?

  4. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Good morning!
Wow..potential terror attacker taken into custody in Tampa, and it was not an easy arrest by far.

    • lysie says:

Good morning. I didn’t hear about that. Scary!

    • tillacum says:

Good morning lysie and Molly. I haven’t heard about the potential terrorist either.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

FNC was carrying the story early this a.m. The mother had a role in turning her son in, too.

    • edinva says:

Thanks for that beautiful, nary a carb, breakfast, lysie! I have worked on cutting back carbs and upping exercise (walking), when what I really need is liposuction! Lots and lots of liposuction.

Add me to the list of those who didn’t hear of the arrest in Tampa. Thankfully we’re not hearing endless news about a successful attack!!! And, God bless the mother who turned in her own kid.

It’s off to the doc with DH today. Anyone else experience acid reflux? (I guess we should hope it’s “only” acid reflux). It’s really pretty much wiped him out for the last week or two and it takes feeling really poorly to get him to the doc, other than for checkups. He always toughs it out (like Hillary!). I hope the doc has a good Rx and we can get on with Christmas. So much to do, so little energy and now even less time. Alas, we’ll be celebrating with the sons and they are very no-fuss types. Mercifully.

Have a lovely day… it’s only moderately cold/chilly here with lots of sunshine. After last week it feels downright balmy.

    • Jemian says:

Ed, how did the appointment with the doc go? And, yes, I have experienced acid reflux. I was prescribed a stepped-up Priloxec. It worked.

    • edinva says:

Jemian, thanks for asking …It went so well it slipped my alleged mind. Doc prescribed a base level anti-reflux drug (apparently it presents in a variety of ways for which there’s an equal # of Rxs and treatments). DH took the daily pill as soon as we got home, and no complaints since. Whew. To be honest I was afraid we were going to hear he had stomach cancer, the final illness that killed my older bro … so it made me a tad nervous and is the reason I insisted on getting to the doc. DH was content to suffer and wait till his annual physical exam next month. I didn’t have patience for that … and I just don’t like to suffer!! So today everyone’s relatively healthy and feeling good. Thanks, again. Hope you’re doing well with all you’ve been thru.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Oh you poor thing, worrying about stomach cancer. Glad it was something quite a bit less traumatic. what is the Rx? What causes the problem in the first place? Can that be dealt with?

  5. Prairie says:

What jury duty with Secretary of State nominee Rex Tillerson was like

Excellent article. Hell folks, hope everyone is having a good week. I’m trying to get over a cold before I have 11 people here for Christmas Day.

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  7. The Raven says:

All that talk of wind and cold and snow and (yawn) it’s so hard to relate when it’s 85 degrees. But an urgent matter is my TV is dying! argh! I think the Russians did it.

    • Jemian says:

Speaking of Turkey(s), they are available here for $90 per 9lbs.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Oh darn to both your problems!

    • Jemian says:

Well, our problem is solved. We are not buying a turkey. I think we’ll go to a friend’s house.

    • edinva says:

Good solution, Jem!!! I thought @ $10/lb for turkey, let them eat cake!! But can you also get a 60″ TV there for $90? We don’t ever stop to realize the things we take for granted here vs overseas where shipping multiplies the cost of products. OR of products you just can’t get overseas. Have a superbly Merry Christmas.

We’re now at the shortest day/longest night of the year and heading back, ever so slowly, to more daylight. Last week a young friend posted a pic from her new home in AK showing a moonrise at 3:45pm. It’s rather a glorious world we live in, is it not?

      Happy Winter Solstice, everyone!!

  8. Molly Pitcher says:

Turkey at the Precipice Our denomination, a conservative Presbyterian denomination, now has a pastor in jail in Turkey. He was arrested a few weeks ago, and then formerly charged several days ago, after years of missionary work there.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

The right way to do infrastructure spending…I was wondering about this…I would think tax reform, repeal of 0Care, cutting taxes and regulations would go a long way to creating jobs…also very important rebuilding the navy would help some areas with the shipyards, etc.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

So…is the Dow going to hit an historic 20,000 by week’s end?? That seems much more certain than the Dems giving up their quest to prevent Trump taking office.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Leftie admits: he was wrong Yikes….stop the presses….
Well, he only admits that Europe might not be such the safe, safe place he has thought it to be

    • lysie says:

Horrible about the pastor, Molly. My prayers are with him, his family and all his church members. Terrible!

Dow is about 37 points away from 20,000. To think that some said it would crash if Trump was elected. Wishful thinking..I would say.

Lefty admits he is partially wrong. Is that anything like being partially overweight? 😉 That’s the ticket. Person: my left foot is overweight. I’m not. LOL

    • edinva says:

lysie, I think being partially wrong is like being partially pregnant.

Molly, oh, do I pray for your pastor. I know we are not supposed to hate, but it’s awfully hard not to when we see barbaric behavior. Europe is so going to resent the way their countries have been invaded and the politicians who got them to where they are now.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thanks lysie and ED…very concerning it is. As to hate, God gave us minds to use and we are told to hate that which is evil. We can not be indifferent to evil, embrace evil, or tolerate it. We are told to hate and fight evil.

  9. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  10. The Raven says:

So the electors didn’t defect and Obama snuck this in below the radar.

    • lysie says:

      The Bundys??? /s

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Just a few days left of this 0bomination..
Did you hear that it was Hillary who lost more faithless electors? Ha!

    • edinva says:

Poor woman just can’t win, can she? 5 Faithless D electors, only 2 Faithless R electors. Let’s see: she lost to Obama in ’08, to Trump on November 8, for a 2nd time in MI/PA/WI last week and in the electoral college today.
Did you all remember: today is the 18th anniversary of Bill Clinton’s impeachment.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

    • The Raven says:

She did win, edinva. She did. She won the primary showing the DNC cheated and they didn’t like the über communist, Bernie Sanders. (we know because the Russians leaked the emails – or more accurately a DNC worker leaked them )

    • edinva says:

yeah, Rav, I’m not buying the Russian hack story so much as an insider leak story. Of course all nations spy on each other and try to hack into each others’ webs, but nothing revealed in the campaign has that ‘feel.’ Remember, it was dumba$$ Podesta who fell for the email telling him to change his password. That is the work of your typical hacker, probably some kid operating out of his parents’ basement. Or maybe a DNC or Clinton Campaign worker, who knows? But does that have the ‘feel’ of a foreign government as sophisticated in hacking as the Russians? Or any other country? Poor Dems are so desperate to find somebody, something, to blame for their unexpected loss, they are grasping at straws, but the nastiness they are exhibiting is THE worse I have ever seen.

  11. Molly Pitcher says:

Jemian!!!! The winter solstice doth approacheth….YAY!

  12. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the start , Molly.
Hope you are feeling better today.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

Will this inevitable decision by the Electoral College finally end the unhinged derangement of the alt-left and their trust-funded, living-in-gated-communities pajama boy supporters? Of course not! Coming soon to an alt-reality website near you: Impeach Donald Trump!

      – Howie Carr, Boston Globe

    • lysie says:

      Good morning , Rav.

Yup! They will be trying to dig up dirt on Trump…even in a concrete parking lot.

    • Jemian says:

While the electors vote today, it won’t be official until Jan 6, 2017. There could still be shenanigans. It’s the rats. Of course, there will be shenanigans.

    • lysie says:

      Hi, Jem. How is hubby?

    • Jemian says:

He is much better, thank you. After teaching on Monday, though, he was very tired. Today, Tuesday, is the last day of the semester. He doesn’t have to teach, but will have lots of grading. Finally! School will be done in 7.5 hours!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning everyone…enjoying your comments…the set that has me going is those Hollywood people and their commercial to Stand up for America, or whatever it is…delusional. Their idea of their own self-importance is just a leeeetle exaggerated, and clearly they should have learned that already from the election results.

    • lysie says:

      Delusional…yes indeed.

Michael Moore is trying to bribe the electors.

Moore wrote, “Some states have made it ‘illegal’ for you to vote any other way than for Trump. If you don’t vote for him, your state will fine you … So here’s my offer to you: I obviously can’t and won’t give you money to vote tomorrow, but if you do vote your conscience and you are punished for it, I will personally step up pay your fine which is my legal right to do.”

      Sounds illegal to me.

    • The Raven says:

We need some harsh penalties for harassing electors. 10 years in a Cuban prison w/o NY Times.

    • lysie says:

Perfect. Let the reality of it all hit them like a 2 by 4.

    • edinva says:

It used to be the case that if you spend a year and a day in prison you lost your right to vote. I think that has been revoked, at least to the extent that once out of prison, they can apply to have that right reinstated. Why can’t we make the crime of interfering with anyone voting, including electors at the Electoral College, is punishable by five years in prison and loss of right to vote that can never be reinstated.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Well, preparing for a Hillary victory some weeks back, my plan was to cope with laughter…I guess that works with the current Podesta-led madness also. Mockery and laughing scorn is what they deserve.

    • Jemian says:

The libs should be happy. There HAVE been 4 faithless electors in Wisconsin. Four who “voted their conscience” and not the way they had pledged. But somehow, I don’t think even this will appease them. Too bad. So sad.

  13. edinva says:

I wonder if that Texan “Faithless Elector” will even show up in Austin. The more we learn about him the more you have to wonder why he put himself in a position to be exposed. He was running a pretty good racket it appeared. Someone at FR posted some TX electoral rules and it seems they can remove him and replace with a “Faithful Elector,” tho I don’t know if that’s true or rumor or wishful thinking. Whatever, I doubt there will be more than one or two others at the very most. Hopefully none.

Then they are down to having all their community organizers spend every day for four years going after every move that Trump and his Administration make, which makes it all the better that he goes right over their heads with his tweets. Makes you wonder if WaPo and NYT will even be in business in four years. NYT is having to rent out 6 or 8 floors of its HQ building in NYC for income. They’ve already sold of a LOT of real estate to keep operating. At some point they will likely run out of real estate to sell and/or rent, and stocks to sell to keep the paper afloat. Shame, that.

    • The Raven says:

Remember the French revolution where the militants went door to door with the guillotines? Can you imagine the response of the Joe Sixpack Trump supporters if the libs bribe the electoral college?

  14. Molly Pitcher says:

I hope everyone had a safe, restful weekend…
