Goodbye week. You were horrible….From 4 thugs kidnapping and torturing a special needs person to the Florida airport shooting.

I pray with the changes to be made in less than 2 weeks…the hatred and violence is replaced with an end of hostilities.

The Week in Pictures: Countdown Edition Powerline for some Sunday afternoon laughs….a cold Sunday afternoon…

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

0’s catalog of misdeeds is extensive as we all know, but for me, given all that, his most dangerous and devilish plans are those against Israel, and as Caroline Glick has outlined, America’s moral position as a world leader as these plans are revealed. And, AND… it’s not done yet. There is more damage to be done, may God help us.

Anyway, the RCP article above continues the sad story…

Good morning, everyone …. snow has just started here. I’ve seen pix from friends in Richmond, VA showing a good 6″ which is not the norm. Imagine VA Beach. They’re usually beyond snow and/or ice, but not always. So this year I think they got hit by the hurricane Matthew and now a blizzard.

We were going to have a family brunch today to celebrate the sons’ birthday. They are Tolkein fanatics, so in that lore this is their “coming of age” at 33. Can’t believe my babies are 33 and their sister will soon enough be 35. In MY mind, I’m the one who’s (at most) 35!!

Talk about delusional. Have you read about Hillary for Mayor of New York City. Once again, she’s never lived there a minute of her life, but that’s A-OK. Never stopped her running for the Senate there. Problem with NYC is that every year it gains and loses the population of a smaller city. Think about that. So transient. Of course, it has nothing to do with the cost of living, or taxes and eventually the glitz wears off and all that’s left is filth (unless you live in or near Trump Tower). IF Hillary were to run she’d win. I don’t think she’s all that interested but right now they’re doing every mind trick to alleviate the pain of the November trauma (to her).

DH and I are going thru a clearance for volunteers for the Inauguration. I have no fear of clearing security, but they may look at our ages and wonder what those old geezers could do that would be helpful. We’ve done several, going back to 41, but that was 28 years ago. Most recent we did was 43, and even that was 12 years ago. So we are well past our prime. Easier to watch ceremonies on TV.

Sad day … I take down the Christmas tree. Every year I keep it up till the Epiphany (or Easter, as the case may be) but need the space now for the TV we bought ourselves for Christmas. Went almost 8 years without a TV. Didn’t get cable (still a consideration) but have Netflix and CBS All Access. Wouldn’t subscribe to Levin TV because he’s been so obnoxious over the past year. DO like Steyn and Malkin.

    Have a lovely day, y’all.

Hi ED….hope you get get your security passes. I agree…always a little sad when the Christmas tree comes dow.
Good day here as I had an annual meeting/ brunch to go to. Caught up with friends I hadn’t seen in a …..month. But there WAS a lot of news to cover even so. Sunny day, so YAY!

    • edinva says:

Molly, I was looking for a snowbow. After a couple of hours of steady light snow (whole inch accumulation), the sun came out!! Blue skies, a few puffy white clouds. Amazing. STILL, the temps are bitter (at least for here). Right now its 21 degrees with wind chill of 7. By the time we leave for church it’ll be a bit colder. So I told DH we aren’t going to church. We have to park so far away and walk to the church, I think it’d be dangerous and there could still be snow/ice on the sidewalks. I’m getting too old to risk it. The Lord will understand. Right? Just, please, don’t let us lose power.

Query: Do we have two (2!) birthdays here tomorrow? Lysie and Jemian?? Sweet Sixteens? Happy Birthday ladies, if my memory serves (but we never, ever count on that!)

    • edinva says:

MOLLY … as an afterthought = I’m going to Richmond VA on Tuesday afternoon thru Wednesday afternoon, so checked weather, given they got a good 6″ and are suffering a single digit temp tonight. It’ll be fine when i’m there .. BUT by Thursday and Friday it will be in the 60s. Go figure!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      ED Jemian’s is Monday.

    • edinva says:

Molly, I have the 9th for Jemian’s birthday but they’re half day ahead of us, so moved it up to today for the celebration!!!

  5. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning lysie . I am reposting something I wrote about an hour ago on last week’s thread about the shooting yesterday.

Very disturbing…the ignorance on display yesterday via the news coverage. Weapons can travel on airplanes via checked baggage. They must be in locked cases, not loaded, and declared at the check-in counter, where the luggage is then tagged. weapons cannot be loaded, but ammo can also be in the checked bag. Slight details can vary as to airlines and their procedures. Believe me….many people travel securely every single day under these arrangements all across the country..
Unfortunately…this particular terrorist found a way around the system, by retrieving his checked bag, opening his checked bag, loading his weapon, and using it outside the secure area at the airport.

It could have happened at another mall, or on a street somewhere, but it happened to be outside the security area at an airport….another soft target.

Please, please….pass on this correct info..

    • lysie says:

      Great post, Molly.

      Good morning.

I’ve been trying to sleep since 3am. No luck. Boo!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

In all the talk and reporting yesterday, there was no info..or MISinformation about what happened with that shooter and how weapons & ammo are checked and carried as baggage on airlines ALL the time, safely.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Can not believe: a blizzard in Virginia Beach…those poor people are not used to that.
