America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- March 13, 2017 – March 17, 2017 Remember 9/11

The Big Sell is on for the Republican answer to 0Care…Is it worth it or not?
I guess the devil is on the details, and hopefully we will know them BEFORE it’s passed, unlike the disgustingly non-workable 0Care.

  1. The Raven says:

    Morning Quip:

… when you study ethnic groups around the world, the ones that are lagging behind are those where their leaders always tell the same story: that it’s other people holding you back, and that therefore you need to stand against those other people and resist their culture. But that culture may be the key to success

    – Thomas Sowell

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

  3. The Raven says:

    Morning quote:

The genius of the left is to keep enlarging the entitlement state by creating new giveaways that are politically impossible to repeal.

    – Charles Krauthammer.

[when they are done, we can rename the USA to Detroit]

PS: This year is the first time I filled out a bracket. Already had a few wrong.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

LOL! OMG U….Good morning Raven. Krauthammer is right…

    • The Raven says:

We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.”- Jonah Goldberg quoting his fav quote from C.S. Lewis

  4. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

Good morning Lysie. Great looking meal as always. How’s the shoveling coming?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes…the snow…we are still getting some too, and we are not in the snowbelt.
Thanks for breakfast and good morning all.
Looks like the Dutch have had their election…what a crazy situation that was…sad, disturbing and crazy.

    • lysie says:

      Good morning Rav and Molly.

I shoveled the deck around 6pm last night. Guess what? NO new snow. Yippee!!

Greg had to snow blow our over 200 feet driveway 2 times yesterday.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I sure hope that this is the end to all the snow for you…

    • lysie says:

      Me, too.

I’m worried about the apple farmers’ trees. I think the had small buds. Now??? 😦

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Over at NRO, Kevin Williamson has another maddening column. He’s a good writer, and he used to make sense, but the past year, he has sure gone off track. He appears to be joining the side of the elites…everyday people..the “deplorables” …they are losers to him. That’s how I read him, at least.

    • lysie says:

Wow! I could read only about 3/4 of that. I would like to say to Kevin, we have NOT changed, you have!

    • The Raven says:

Speaking of deplorables, the sloppy *ss libs are everywhere…see this. What’s worse is that, as usual, there’s no pushback or outrage from anyone

    • lysie says:

That proves our point. Libs don’t think facts…. they think emotions.

    • The Raven says:

Note here there is no denial. No apology.

The better half and I will no longer go to McDonalds. Also Target. This is getting to be really stupid now. The irony is…look who’s calling the kettle black. The libs are adolescent barbarians.

    • lysie says:

      I’m with you , Rav.

If I want a burger, I’ll go to a nearby Mom and Pop restaurant. I can get a delicious and huge burger with all the toppings and fries for $5.95. I usually eat half and take the rest home or give it to Greg. Plus, I don’t have to be exposed to liberal whining.

    • The Raven says:

Yeah – it’s like the libs want to make the entire US a safe zone.

  5. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

Madame, French people have no confidence in the media whatsoever, are you aware of that, or not?

      – French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen to a liberal reporter (are there any other kind?)

    • The Raven says:

We had a touch of celebrity last night at dinner. We were sitting in a room waiting for a table (this restaurant has an hour wait every day) and my better half whispers ” … that guy over there looks like the Fox journalist with his family.” I whisper back ” … that’s because it IS the Fox journalist.” He must have jumped on a plane before he knew the snowstorm alerts were fake news. His wife is a retired VP at Fox (not sure why she retired…but maybe because of this).

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Oh dear that’s a horrible bit of “news”. Kim Hume retired IIRC because she wanted to do other things with her time. She faithfully maintains a blog of daily scripture readings and meditation, for example

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thanks lysie Good morning to you…… Raven….I wonder how ED is doing….stranded or NY

Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 4:24 pm EDT (Edit)

OK .. update: Nurse Ratchet was summarily dismissed, let go, FIRED!!!! Yes, my friend was so anxious for me to miss what was about to hit her place and to see that I got home before May, we moved up my departure by 2 days. Not without cost for changing tix on Amtrak (but I ended up with a free upgrade to business class, so there’s that). So yesterday I took the commuter train from Mt. Kisco in N. Westchester to NYC’s Grand Central Terminal and 2 subway rides X town to NYC’s Penn Station only to find out that my ‘relief,’ her cousin from CA, had his flight cancelled and now can’t get there till Friday!!!! OMG did I feel guilty, tho it was she who insisted I get out. By evening she’d arranged for a friend’s young (35 years old) daughter, who has a background in caring for at-home patients, coming to stay with her. I was home by 6p, about half hour before the first flakes flew. Alas, there were far fewer flakes than forecast. Maybe 2″? Nowhere near the hype. Hell, fewer than on any college campus in the US.

I’m really proud of my friend. I had anticipated being needed to do more for her. The first day or two I was somewhat busy but by week’s end she’d ditched the walker, used only a cane, and sometimes, short walks without even that. Her ‘range of motion’ exceeded expectations. She’ll be doing a jig by Friday! OK, maybe not that recovered, but really impressive. Still, if I don’t need a new knee, I’ll be happy. Tho, it’s great there is such medical technology available today.

Not ready to jump back into following news and politics.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      OK! Home…that’s good. thanks lysie

    • lysie says:

You are welcome. Molly. We have about 16 iches of snow with more headed our way.

Greg wanted to go to Friendly’s for stuffed French Toast. He cancelled. Now, you know it is bad out there. 🙂

Update: 24 1/2 inches or more of snow on our deck.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Dang, that is horrible….we ended up with more too…but you got us beat.

    • The Raven says:

-Van der Sloot – Guilty as charged

      – Raven’s Quote of the year nominee: ” … Alas, there were far fewer flakes than forecast. Maybe 2″? Nowhere near the hype. Hell, fewer than on any college campus in the US.” (EdinVa)

Molly: Yeppers….Kim Hume is what you say. See here. (I thought that other link was from Megan Kelly’s book…..was I mistaken?)

    • lysie says:

Is it me but does he look like he’s smiling?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Your link was about Kelly yes…Thanks for the new link!

    • The Raven says:

And then there’s this reminder of work to be done.

Ten vulnerable Dems in 2018 and what to do

      1) Joe Donnelly-IN; 2) Bill Nelson-FL; 3) Sherrod Brown-OH; 4) Claire McCaskill-MO; 5) Heidi Heitkamp-ND; 6) Tammy Baldwin-WI; 7) Jon Tester-MN; 8) Joe Manchin-WV; 9) Debbie Stabenow-MI; 10) Bob Casey, Jr.-PA

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  7. The Raven says:

    Morning Quote:

They should abolish the Congressional Budget Office

    – Newt

Everbody have power and internet ?

Chairman would have had a 5 toilet paper roll rating for this one. Sorry to say I’m off to see a Yankees v. Tampa Bay game today with a neighbor.

While we now have snowy white states you may want to read about red and blue states

How about Kevin Baker’s “Bluexit” or Jack Engelhard’s Obama the Hoax?

  8. Molly Pitcher says:

Maybe Raven meant gazillions of snowflakes?! Anyway….it hasn’t started yet.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

The Real Lessons of Middlebury College I’m glad Dr. Sowell is still writing a column every so often.

      Shrinking Federal Government EO It’s a start….

    • Jemian says:

FWIW, April, the shy giraffe, has so far declined to give birth as the world watches. It has been hypothesized that she is waiting for the blizzard to take hold.

I am so silly for watching.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Where is this going on? Sounds…interesting…

    • Jemian says:

Harpersville, NY. I could have that name wrong. It’s Harpers-something in New York State. Animal Adventure Park owned by the Patch family. This is their first giraffe pregnancy and they had about 12 emails a day concerning the pregnant giraffe. They felt they could not keep up with the outflow of information and looked for an easier solution. So, as her “due window” came (and went) they thought it would be easier to set up a web cam and allow their partners to see what was happening. Or not happening, as the case may be.

Boy! Were they ever wrong about it being easier! People from around the world (!) have now started watching that video stream. There are more questions and comments than ever. And every time that giraffe moves her tail for any reason, people respond in breathless anticipation.

So here’s a link:, and when I checked it, April was merely pacing in her stall while the world waits. It could be at any moment. Well, from the first sighting of tiny front hooves to the final whoosh as the baby drops six feet to the floor, it could be anywhere from half-an-hour to an hour. Or, it could be a little while longer. We just have to wait.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Got it…thanks Jemian

  9. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the start, Molly. ((hugs)) Snow? Anywhere from 5 inches to a bazillion…they say. 😉

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thanks lysie…our snow estimate has gone down a bit…

    • The Raven says:

I don’t know where you got that gazillion number….I heard two gazillion.

    • lysie says:

Okay Rav. LOL. What’s a gazillion more or two?? Still, 5 inches is better than gazillions. 😉

    • tillacum says:

      That’s an interesting breakfast.
Good Morning All. I thought the blizzards were for January…Mother nature must have something in mind. Stay warm and safe.
Why can’t the dems accept Trump, Rave? Those on welfare are afraid of losing their gifts and the politicians are afraid of losing their power. Actually, I think those in power are very afraid of the working public. They think the more distasteful news, will change some of the working public back to the dem party. The more work available, the stronger the public becomes. (my thoughts)

    • Jemian says:

In The Long Winter, Ingalls writes of a blizzard in April, I think. Granted, March is late, but the infamous Blizzard of ’93 happened in April.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

This could just about be the 2017 Ides of March Storm…

  10. Molly Pitcher says:

lysie, it looks like you are on the line between large snow amounts, and more a “moderate” snow total. Exciting, yes? Or maybe not….not what we wanted at this point.

    • Jemian says:

Sorry, I must disagree with you (perhaps I am not?) about Ryan Care. It is just Ocare light and must be killed before conception. Too late for that, I guess. But certainly not allowed to become law.

If allowed to become law, it will undergo “modifications” and “adaptions” and “adjustments” until we have Obamacare once again.

No! The government MUST get out of the insurance business and let me and my doctor alone. Period. NO GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE. NO COMPROMISE.

    • Jemian says:

      I feel strongly about this.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Actually I agree with you, Jemian…I expressed as much last week. My statement above was not meant to be an endorsement….just a way of asking what more is going to be debated and changed? That will happen, but it may not be enough to win my support.

    • Jemian says:

Please accept my apologies for over-reacting. I blame the lack of oxygen in my blood and causing my muddled thinking. That’s it. Not enough oxygen!

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Jemian No problem. I understand completely. My thoughts on this are strong too. It’s interesting that Betsey McCaughey , a long time 0Care opponent, seems to be open to the R plan…that baffles me.

    • The Raven says:

I was just reading in the WSJ how the Democrat strategy is indeed what we see every day. A constant barrage of negative news that makes the Republicans pee in their pants. And a parade of victims of a repeal of Obamacare is coming no matter what. But isn’t this what we were told last year? The public loved Dems and everybody wanted open borders, free health care, sanctuary cities setting murderers back on the street, and a corrupt government taking orders from George Soros? If Trump was the nominee, there would be a landslide victory for Hillary. Why can’t they stand on principle and get on with it?
