The Gorsuch nomination hearings begin today…finally….but 4 days worth?? That’s a bit much.

Spring is around the corner. That means baseball, and that is a good thing.

  1. The Raven says:

Why do Dems want refugees ? To vote of course … see here

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Ha! Funny. ATRW Greetings

    • lysie says:

      Thanks, Rav. TGIF!! Yes!!

    • The Raven says:

      Funny facts:

In 1885, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a federal law making plural marriage a felony, declaring that “the union for life of one man and one woman in the holy estate of matrimony [is] the sure foundation of all that is stable and noble in our civilization.” A New York Times editorial celebrated that result, observing cheekily that “we had not supposed there had ever been any serious question.”

      – Reason Magazine

    • edinva says:

Can you imagine a NYT editorial today if SCOTUS upheld such a law? Homophobic! Polygamousphobic! Throw in racist and xenophobic, too

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  3. The Raven says:

    Morning Quote 1:

New York’s Sen. Chuck Schumer made history this week, in formally declaring his intention to break the U.S. Senate. Add this to the list of Democratic wreckage Republicans may now be obliged to fix. … He’s saying that every Supreme Court nominee will now require 60 votes to be confirmed. This is a massive shift—a break with the Founders’ vision of advice and consent, and an affront to two centuries of Senate history. It’s a declaration that Democrats will permanently wield the judicial filibuster as a political weapon, robbing the president and the Senate majority of the ability to appoint, and stripping the Supreme Court of a full complement of justices.

    – Kim Strassel, WSJ op ed

PS – I truly believe the left intends to “fix” the Supreme Court by whatever means possible when they return to majority, They will probably either impeach conservatives, or, like FDR attempted, change the number of judges to a higher number.

It is indeed time to fix the judiciary (especially in lieu of the travel ban nonsense) – but by sane rather than insane people.

    Morning Quote 2

“I think there’s more – probably more – evidence that CNN colluded with the Clinton campaign to give her debate questions than the Trump campaign gave any kind of collusion

    – Sean Spicer

Morning quote 3 is this entire interview with Tucker at his best

  4. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

      Good morning Lysie!

Interesting how Fox went nuts with the Nunes story and other’s buried it. Yesterday the WSJ had an anti-Trump editorial on his tweets and today, they put the Nunes story on A-6.
CNN comes out with another Trump/Russia story, and the NY Times has it on Page 1 but below the fold.

We should all be talking about baseball, Sweet 16 basketball, the Kentucky Derby, & the Masters golf tournament and instead we are up to our elbows in Democrat political crap and Islamic terrorism.

Speaking of golf, there’s a new guy, Justin Thomas, who will be in contention at the Masters (which rewards golfers with the long drive). He is short and only 145 pounds but his swing is so efficient, he belts out drives averaging 300 yds (longest this year was 404) and amazes everyone watching. No one is close in yards per pound. Although he’s in the bottom quartile in drive accuracy, he’s won three tournaments this year and leads the PGA.

    • lysie says:

Good morning , Rav. We shall see what happens. There is a lot of speculation at this point, but I believe the facts will come out before long.

Go SPORTS!! It keeps us sane. 😉

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, and the Calendar says it is Spring……good morning! Breakfast is very good.
We went to a Southern style restaurant last night that we enjoy very much, and had barbecue, except my no-sauce husband likes his meat dry…oh well, it’s still tender beef brisket.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Did you ever golf yourself, Raven?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Speaking of sports, ESPN seems to be in huge trouble, ratings and revenue wise.

    • The Raven says:

Yes….I’m a golfer, but haven’t been out in 10 years !! I brought our clubs to FL, though.

Ted Cruz gave the Dems a little tongue lashing for their hypocrisy

    • The Raven says:

How about if we start a sanctuary state? Where we ignore progressives? And tax them up the ying yang to pay for their stuff

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, yes! A sanctuary state for conservatives. Perfect.

    • The Raven says:

Zero tolerance for snowflakes, illegals, disability fraud, activist judges, and malcontents of any kind.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hearings not over yet, and Schumer says Dems will filibuster Gorsuch!

    • tillacum says:

Hello Everyone. I agree with Sasse’s wife, Gorsuch must have very large kidneys to sit so long without a break. Funny how the democrats all voted for his federal judgeship, but none want him as Supreme Judge.
OH, I read Sen. Gowdy asked for and was granted to have Vince Foster exhumed (this was second time, the first time he was not embalmed). After being examined it was discovered Mr. Foster had been shop twice in the back of the head, both shots were killing shots, AND we’ve been told he committed suicide? This is the second Clinton acquaintance who’ve committed suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head.
      The Clintons have agile friends.

    • tillacum says:

till, till, proof read. “had been shop…shot”

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning till……your luncheon for the vets went well the other day.
The Dems are sure on some wicked path….

    • The Raven says:

Till … That Vince Foster thing is fake news … the libs like to fool conservative so they can razz us.

I’m guessing Schumer is filibustering so they can say he’s an illegal judge and when they some day return to majority they’ll impeach him.r

    • Jemian says:

FYI, I am STILL waiting on the baby giraffe.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

That poor giraffe! She’s waiting too!

  5. The Raven says:

So, was Comey deceiving with weasel words or lying?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Did you see the line about Comey? He’s achieved consensus……disliked by just about everyone.

    • tillacum says:

Rave, I personally think, Mr. Comey was using the same tactic as he did when he advised any “worthy” lawyer would not touch Hillary and her law and treason actions. I keep remembering his brother works for the Clinton Foundation.

  6. The Raven says:

    Three things:
    1) I have this ookie feeling when listening to Gorsuch that he has liberal tendencies.
    2) Everybody see Nunes report on Trump just now?
    3) Listening to various news stories on London it seems their big story is the use of the word terror and not the event itself

  7. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

      What happened at FOX?

While it endlessly repeats totally unsubstantiated claims of Trump critics of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as repeatedly dismissing Trump claims of Obama administration surveillance of Trump tower, they have dared to take Fox News contributor Judge Napolitano off the air for repeating what three intelligence agents told him — that the Obama administration in fact had British intelligence conduct the surveillance so as not to leave a trail.

      – Daniel John Sobieski – Fox Throws Judge Napolitano under the Bus

    • The Raven says:

      Morning quote:

Of course, one takes for granted that Martha Burk, Shaunna Thomas, or other feminists so worked up about the so-called sexism of male golfers and Donald Trump wouldn’t say boo, if the golf courses in question were owned by another presidential golfer by the name of Bill Clinton. Clinton, as usual, would get the proverbial pass.

      – John Calvin on liberal hypocrisy (Am. Spect) (Martha Burk wants to move the Women’s Open from a Trump golf course)

    • The Raven says:

I had stopped reading George Will when he had temper tantrums and would rather have Hillary in charge. But his current column has interesting questions he’d like asked of Gorsuch. Including this one:

You commendably believe that judges should adhere to the “original public meaning” of the Constitution’s text. Would you feel bound to follow a previous court decision that did not evaluate evidence of original meaning and was, in your view, in conflict with it? If not, would you be elevating the views of judges over those of the Framers?

    • edinva says:

Morning, Lysie, Molly, Rav, all…. thanks for the breakfast, lysie. You had to post a pic with peaches. Makes my mouth water. I only eat them in season, fresh from some nice Amish farm (or my husband’s cousin’s pick your own farm). So I’ve got a long wait ahead. But worth the wait!!!

Day 3 of the Gorsuch Inquisition. I don’t remember the Judiciary Committee being so hard on Kagan or Sotomayor? Is it failed memory? No one is better qualified than Gorsuch. The Ds won’t succeed (oh, aided and abetted by good ole Lindsay Graham who the Ds – if not the Rs – can always count on). They know it, but it won’t stop them from making the experience miserable. They will never accept Donald Trump as a legitimate POTUS. Wait till President Trump gets to nominate a replacement for Ginsburg. Stuff really gonna hit the fan.

    • lysie says:

      Good morning ,ed.

I think the dems like to hear their own blabbering. Seriously, can’t they just get to the point? How about..Gorsush you are qualified, but we don’t like you because Trump appointed you. Case closed. LOL

    • edinva says:

lysie even the American Bar Association gave Gorsuch a ‘well qualified’ rating after an intense review. I think of the ABA as more L than R. Dems have always considered their rating “The GOLD Standard” until it comes to R nominees.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning…enjoying all your comments, links, AND breakfast. Thank you!

    • lysie says:

Good morning, Molly. Chilly day, but at least the sun is shining now. Earlier it was cold , snowy and dreary.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

P.S. The Napolitano decision is disheartening.

  8. The Raven says:

Milton Friedman weighed in on health care by suggesting a catastrophic health insurance plan coupled with health savings accounts. That’s for me and what I’d like to see happen.

A little twist here is suggesting the catastrophic portion be paid for by the government. I’m not one for new entitlements but this one is interesting (op ed piece here) . Note the author is from the conservative Federalist Society ! Amazingly it can be paid for with one half of what Obamacare will cost anyway !!!

Democrats would add goodies to it over the years but it should last a good while before becoming single payer,

  9. edinva says:

So happy Spring is here at long last. Actually, it was overall a mild Winter, but as I age FL is looking more appealing. Speaking of aging, my baby girl turned 35 yesterday. Hard to wrap my head around. What with me such a kid, and all.

I resent encumbering myself with hate, but it’s growing exponentially for these elected Dems and protesters. After suffering 8 long years of whatzisname, and facing the potential presidency of whatzername, I’d like to enjoy having a real pro-American POTUS. From Day One they’ve not allowed that. And they’re looking for every overdue library book Gorsuch might have in his past. Didn’t you love the Marxine Waters statement about showing who the REAL patriots are IF she can find anything (impeachable) vs. President Trump? Certifiable, totally certifiable that woman is.

At least I read today that SCOTUS denied Sen. Menendez’s petition to throw out his corruption charges, so he now will have to defend against those charges in the courts. Isn’t he the 2nd NJ Senator with that situation? Didn’t same thing happen with Torricelli? There’s another 40+ who should face the same charges, plus some former high level federal office holders, not to mention any names.

And, as an update, my friend in NYS who had the knee replacement is now getting out. Her cousin took her to church on Sunday and yesterday she began her outpatient PT. I think she’s actually taking the painkillers as prescribed, so that’s no doubt helping. She was taking less than she should have, but with all the oxycodone stories, she was trying to avoid becoming dependent and eventually addicted. I think she’s safe on that score, but one never knows. Think Rush Limbaugh, last person you’d have thought would become a druggie.

Have a grand first full day of Spring.

    • lysie says:

Good morning, ed. Barron Trump and your daughter have the same birthday. How about that!!! 🙂

      Great news about your friend.

For the past few years, after a long hard winter, I have said I will never complain about mosquitoes or biting flies. I stand by that to this day. LOL

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Happy birthday to your daughter ED!! And good news about your friend…she will make steady progress now.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Does everyone know their team’s home opener day? Can’t wait…

    • lysie says:

April 2. Yankees vs. Rays 1:10 PM

April 3. Cleveland vs. Rangers 7:05 PM

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, and then it’s April 11 when the INDIANS open in Cleveland. Can’t wait!

    • The Raven says:

I asked a neighbor down here if he wants to go to one of the Rays v Yankee games. $112 tickets !! wow.

    • edinva says:

$112 to watch a baseball game, a pre-season game??? When I was in NY we rode by the “new” Yankee Stadium — slowly thanks to bumper to bumper traffic and road construction. The fellow driving made reference to the outrageous cost of tickets there. I remember my dear, departed dad mention that when he was a boy growing up near the very old (3 stadiums back) Yankee field he would buy tickets for X cents. More likely, he and the lads in the ‘hood stole in.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Oh my..that is a bit much

  10. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • The Raven says:

Wow! What a spread! Good morning Lysie.

Get out your copy of the living breathing Constitution so you can follow along today. The copy the Dems have has a section on federal powers, commerce, gay rights, and abortion that mine doesn’t have. Oh wait, here’s my copy. Yes, yes…it says “The Democrat Party is unconstitutional.” What insight the founders had.

And on another topic: Trump’s tweet was weird.

James Clapper and others stated that there is no evidence Potus colluded with Russia. This story is FAKE NEWS and everyone knows it!

When I watch these crime shows on TV – I can always tell they’re guilty when, instead of denying the crime, they say there is no evidence.

    • lysie says:

      Good morning. Rav.

Did you read that Judge Napolitano has been suspended from Fox News due to remarks he made about the wiretapping mess?

    • The Raven says:

Yes…I couldn’t believe it. Can you imagine if lefty stations suspended their reporters/analysts for fake news? The whole lot of them would be in a bread line

    • lysie says:

And yet Juan and others can still make absurd comments.

    • The Raven says:

      Can you believe this !!

After the FBI director on Monday acknowledged a months-long probe into possible links between Russian operatives and Trump campaign associates, veterans of Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid sharply questioned why Comey waited until now — after their boss lost — to confirm it. – FOX

To me, it seems like every Democrat on the planet has been receiving daily briefings on Trump/Russia., So, Hillary didn’t know?

    • lysie says:

Keep digging that hole, dems…keep digging.

Rav, my head hurts from trying to understand all this bull.

    • tillacum says:

That is a WOW breakfast. How many are invited to share? Thank you.
I’ve clicked of tv for while. Getting ready to make dinner for 50 members of the American Legion, celebrating the Legion’s 99th Birthday. We’re having bbqed chicken, macaroni and cheese, greens, tossed salad and lots of garlic bread. I’m also going to make a bowl of mashed cauliflower for shoes who cannot eat the macaroni. Of course the cake and ice cream. I’ll have lots of help.

    • lysie says:

      Good morning, till.

      Congratulations! Love the American Legions.

      Have a great time.

    • edinva says:

Wonderful thing you are doing for the vets, till. Thanks on behalf of all of us, to the vets and to you who support them so beautifully.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning everyone…slow start to the day for me, but lysie’s breakfast will help as well as everyone’s interesting comments and maybe I will wake up!

  11. Two Thirds says:

Jem darlin’ are you teaching in the states or are you overseas somewhere?

  12. Two Thirds says:

Senator Mike Lee of Utah, with the highest conservative rating of the Senate, is up with Judge Gorsuch and it is smiles all around! 🙂

    • The Raven says:

Dianne Feinstein said “I firmly believe the Constitution is a living document that evolves as our country evolves.”
      – She didn’t add that she wants to change the Constitution with liberal judges and not the prescribed way – through amendments

  13. Two Thirds says:

And hi to you, Rav ol’ buddy!

  14. Two Thirds says:

Hi Jem Sweetie and lysie Sweetie and Molly Sweetie,
Watching the Comey stuff and it’s boring me, lol. This Sewell CRAT is just downright disgusting. The last few weeks I have gotten home from work and I tune into CSPAN and CSPAN-2 and alternate back and forth while I fix dinner but wind up on CSPAN-2 and watch the Senate and the absolutely ridiculous miss-behavings of those goofballs. Who on Earth is electing these people? Oh…I forgot, ‘We the People’ continue to elect and re-elect this bunch of mostly idiots, but there a few golden ones in there and we all know who those are…smiling about them.

I thought President Trump’s rally in KY started at something like 5:30 Mountain time? You guys, I took Inauguration Day off and watched every minute and reruns until the sun went down. I was so thrilled when I heard those words “So help me God” and that monster stripped essentially all of his immense power and transferring it to President Trump in a milli-seciond, a micro-second, a nano-second or even a pico-second.

Uh oh we are going to the House opening up for the fun and games today on CSPAN. Time to switch over to the Senate and this is going to be crazy watching those idiots trying to outsmart Judge Gorsuch from right here in my back yard Colorado. OMG, little dick durbin is on. I can’t listen to this. MUTE!

After about 18 years working on NASA planetary probe missions to Jupiter, Mars and even asteroids, I am back working on America’s defense stuff and I am thrilled!

  15. Two Thirds says:

    Hi All!
Took the day off to hang out here and watch the crazy stuff going on this week in Washington. Speaking of these communists getting into America’s sports world, remember how that idiot jacka$$ in N. Korea had the basketball great Dennis Rodman over? Maybe it was his father. Same thing. Wish I could take off all week to watch the stuff going on this week. I have huge meetings going on this week starting tomorrow so I will have to go back in tomorrow for the rest of the week.

    • Jemian says:

Hey, darlin’! Good to see you. You’ll have a freepmail from me soon. I mentioned that goon-in-NoKo’s threat to nuke the US to my Korean students. It took me about a minute or two to get my sixth graders to quit laughing. He’s a joke! BTW, JT is playing war games over there at this minute.

FWIW, I am STILL watching that hind end of the giraffe. Silly me!

Long and late day at work today. I’m switching gears from one teaching style to another teaching style for this last grading period and it is taking me a little while at this beginning to get it all together.

Still no beach report. One is coming up soon. Really.

    • lysie says:

Good morning Jem and Two Thirds.

President Trump has a rally in Louisville, Kentucky at 3:30 this afternoon. Not sure, but it may be televised.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hi to y’all also….you have much to do Jemian. 2/3rds….enjoy your day off!

  16. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the start, Molly.

  17. The Raven says:

I went back and looked up Kagan and she had three days of hearings. The extra day for Gorsuch is an extra day for propaganda as the malcontents prepare for 2018 elections.

  18. The Raven says:

Trump/Russia paid off for the Dems – now they admit it was phony.. Powerline is still wobbly on the whole thing. Why in the world is not the entire world coming down hard on the Democrats for this fake news? Their obvious goal should be destroyed, not left open like Powerline. The Dem’s takedown of Trump’s tweet can be used for an example of how to do it.

  19. Jemian says:

Ah, baseball! That means summer isn’t far off, too. Love summer.
