      Sat. a.m. greetings! Lots of rain last night, but no cooling off today, it seems.

      We got some serious rain this afternoon … one of those heavy t’storm rains that pass in 20 minutes .. except that it and we were traveling in the same direction at pretty much the same speed. I had to pull over TWICE, it was so blinding. Alas it did help at least temporarily to lower the temps, so that was nice.

      The March frosts slowed down the black berryseason here and dragged out the blueberry season … we were able to pick a several cups worth of each, and I am about to embark on the production of a berry cobbler. I had hoped to have a lot more blackberries and some peaches but nary a peach to be seen and not that many of the blackberries.

      After our farm excursion and lunch at a Mexican restaurant, we headed out to the cemetery and, after telling my DH that I knew EXACTLY where his folks are buried, guess what? I got lost and never did find them! Found some other relatives, well, LOTS of other relatives but the ‘rents place eluded me completely. Just got too turned around. Next time.

      Oh, and of all things … DH’s grandfather’s house is now an Asian Bistro! It had been an American fare restaurant for about 2 decades. Diversity has hit Poolesville!!!

      After all the energy expended today, I am EXHAUSTED!! Going out to rural America is just so good for the soul! Tomorrow is Family Farewell Day 2.

      Ol’ Newt suggests CNN get an outsider to get to the bottom of the fake news. Does he really believe they have no clue? The MEDIA/DEMOCRAT complex only cares about the next election and trashing the Republicans. Speaking of such…..we now have out-and-out civil disobedience with partisan judges. Surely this portends of the future Democrat strategy – simply disobey the US Constitution and laws.

      Good Morning all. I love Newt for turning the tables on CNN. Wish something could be done to MSNBC. This AM they are all atwitter about Tillerson BLOWING UP at a 35 year old WH Aide. That’s hard for me to believe.
      We’ve seen some deer on the golf course and from time to time they even jump the fence to the Llama pasture. I’d like to leave them some corn, but that’s a no, no.

      I’m in the “what was Greta thinking ?” camp about her going to to MSNBC … The thing I liked about her was she did much of her own homework, didn’t just read scripts, and would ask actually penetrating questions, regardless of the interviewee’s political party. Couldn’t have THAT at MSNBC. I hope she lands on her feet. BTW, does anyone else remember when MSNBC was still fairly new and the “conservative alternative” on cable TV? As the drifted ever leftward (after being purchased by the WaPo/Newsweek), many of the better personalities went to Fox.

      I had thought this was a really long, four day weekend, but that is only in certain quarters. The federal courts in MD are closed but not DC, nor are the banks closed. Traffic here was horrendous this afternoon as all the swamp-dwellers left town for mountains and beaches. By rush hour there were two cars on the road (only slight exaggeration).

      Tomorrow we go berry picking en famille … then baking. In 90+ degree temps. God bless Willis Carrier!! The farm is in the little town out in MD where DH’s family lived for generations. We’re also going to go “visit” a few of those generations and put American flags at their graves. And eat lunch at a Mexican restaurant.

      I am trying to forget that on Tuesday my Commie-oriented son is leaving for Brussels, thereby Making America Great Again. I sure hope he outgrows this foolishness. The problem (or one of them) with millennials is they have NO CLUE, no memory of the Cold War and how many people suffered under the late, unlamented Soviet Union nor of those who were killed trying to get over the Berlin Wall to freedom. No Clue. Only time will tell.

      Hope you all have a safe, happy Fourth.

      Words fail me…ok…I’m just glad my mind doesn’t operate in that “progressive” sphere, and that I appreciate the original, bestest Constitution some brilliant MEN produced under the guidance and influence of an infinitely wise and wonderful God.

    – Holman W. Jenkins, Jr. puts it all together in a WSJ op ed today (behind the pay wall) with a surprise ending. Russia had planted a fake email that Comey believed was true. It said Loretta Lynch would squash any Hillary indictments (now this is so easy to believe, it may be a real email) and Comey decided to end the investigation without going to Justice.

    The Dems, meanwhile, played the false narrative of Trump, Trump, Trump / Russia, Russia, Russia. Rumor has it Ben Rhodes is the mastermind. CNN has bailed out with retractions and firings – and now the word is the upcoming merger talks with AT&T are the reason they stopped the fake news (LINK HERE). And Huckabee addresses fake news here [You Tube]

    So, so happy about the SCOTUS unanimous decision favoring President Trump’s authority to make the immigration rule re the 6 Middle East countries (otherwise known as the ‘Muslim ban’). Has to make the 4th and 9th Circuit judges feel like fools to be shot down unanimously. Even Ginsburg for crying out loud!!! Also good on the Trinity Lutheran decision. Between all that good news out of the court, the CNN story with the retraction and firings (oops, resignations) followed by O’Keefe’s tape (with another to come) … starting to feel really good.

    For late June in DC Metro, we are having the most extraordinary, perfect weather. Usually by now it’s hot and muggy and that will likely return with a vengeance soon enough, but for now, it’s heavenly!

    Do y’all have plans for the Fourth? We will be having a “Family Weekend” in advance of son Matt’s move to Belgium on Tuesday. The weekend will start with a visit to a relative’s ‘pick your own’ farm out in suburban MD. Then baking pies and cobblers using the blackberries and early peaches that should be in. I am leaving the schedule of activities up to the ‘kids’ and will go along with whatever they want, except the “Capitol Fourth” where zillions of people converge on the Mall. Better to avoid the mob and just watch on PBS. IF I had cable.

      Yes, you do notice a new profile picture. We have a church that wants stuff for their bulletin board and so I’m trying to get it together. Pictures included. We play catch up with our life details when school is not in session.

      Diving today did not happen. Everything was ready last night. One of the best and smoothest preps I’ve ever done. Then, the rain started as I drifted off to sleep. And, the rain woke me up at 0400 and again at 0500. It was took a break at 0548. I got my hopes up. Started again at 0610. At 0619 the handwriting had washed off the walls. Who wants to go to the beach and get wet?

      The road out to the beach has a treacherous last kilometer where it descends down the side of a mountain to sea level. Shoddy materials were used to build it. Couple that with frequent landslides and it makes for dangerous conditions. Add to that, the state is building a new road and doesn’t want to spend the money to upkeep and repair the current road. Long explanation, but I did not want to try that road in a downpour. It was too risky. I would much rather swim up close and personal with a shark.

      The last reason for postponement is the condition of the water. With a rain such as we had, the visibility was probably down to inches.

      We had over 5″ of rain before 0900 today.

      Well, your holiday plans sound very good ED…ours are not nearly so developed….that story about the Muslim teenager murdered in Fairfax….I didn’t realize til about 2 days ago that the suspect is an illegal alien?! Frontpage mag carried the details…how about the coverage there in n. VA? What is it revealing??

      Molly, the teenage Muslim girl’s killing was initially cast as an Islamophobic hate crime, so the media world was abuzz UNTIL they learned the guy who killed her was an illegal alien, then they went pretty quiet. Her funeral last week was a big deal in news coverage. But no sooner was her coffin lowered before not another word was uttered/published.

    End of the day here.

    I think I am finished with the text of the picture book. I have a title for it: Between the Rivers and the Wall. The premise is a young girl goes back to Mesopotamia to help herd sheep. She and her friend get volunteered to make clay bricks for the wall of Uruk. There is a mean overseer who they get rid of by hiding a wild polecat in his tent. When the overseer is sprayed by the polecat, the overseer is banished from the town. The story ends with our young girl looking at a picture book. There is a picture of her friend making bricks. The last page shows a picture of a brick that the girls made together. “Made by Piper and Alittum.” I give no explanation of how Piper enters a picture to get to Mesopotamia, nor of her return. She just does it. This is one of a series where Piper will go back to a variety of civilizations and does something in each. This book has a F-K readability score of 2.7 and 845 words.

    Thursday I’ll work on the pictures.

    Tomorrow, I dive.

    Well, the Supremes gave Trump a unanimous victory today on immigration, but Thomas’s statement/ caveat is the best, as is often the case. He said that determining any “bona fide connection” as a reason for being allowed in the country, would be quite problematic. Amen to that!!

    Sheesh, and these are supposed to be smart people….

      Kelly brought on her own disaster. She was well-enoughed liked at Fox, as long as she didn’t insult conservatives. But then, she allowed her own opinions to emerge and we realized she isn’t to be trusted and turned her off. A little more digging revealed that she has a history of skankiness. That has followed her to where she is now and she can’t build an audience because of her earned reputation. Maybe she can work at Walgreens or somewhere.

      Well, my book that I want an old-fashioned publisher to pick up, hasn’t been picked up yet. It can be a while before that happens. Traditional publishing is notoriously slow.

      I am also trying to get a series of ebooks, picture books for early years, done. But, the settings I have chosen make finding appropriate pictures difficult. And, I don’t have photo editing software on this machine. My machines are all in the shop. Therefore I am on hubby’s laptop and I am loathe to alter it to suit me.
