America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- Sept. 4, 2017 – Sept. 8, 2017 Remember 9/11

The Administration is preparing its response to the latest North Korean provocation response.

JJ Watt’s fundraising effort on behalf of Houston has raised about 20 million, well above its first goal of $200,000 a week ago.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I liked him quite a bit too. Raven Am so sorry about your having to deal with this hurricane and the effect on your plans which get more complicated, I’m thinking. For everyone there & concerned, this is going to be a tough slog.

  1. lysie says:

    Morning everyone.

Lord, let us take up the shield of faith this morning and carry it before us throughout the day and days ahead.

    • The Raven says:

Where are we going? Look here [trigger warning].

    • lysie says:

I miss the good old days.

      The Judds “Grampa” lyrics.

Tell me ’bout the good old days
      Sometimes it feels like
      This world’s gone crazy
Grandpa, take me back to yesterday
Where the line between right and wrong
      Didn’t seem so hazy

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning lysie. Yes, prayers continue for all concerned with the impact of Irma. Just terrible possibilities. Having lived thru a few hurricanes of varying magnitude, but definitely NOT as bad as this one, or Harvey, I can only pray that the best possible scenario comes to pass and all warnings were taken seriously.

We ended up with an eventful end to yesterday, so I will have to relate that later.

But our day trip went well and we achieved our goal, so that was the high point.

    • lysie says:

      Good morning, Molly.

Did you hear about Equifax’s breach that exposes 143 million people to identity theft.

    • lysie says:

Today I’ll be making 48 cannolis for our American Legion’s spaghetti dinner.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, about Equifax, and that strong earthquake off Mexico! YIKES! How much of this kind of news can we absorb? Your cannolis….delicious!!

So we had a good trip down to Lancaster, OH, where downtown on streetlight banners, that town honors its Service men and women: very nice…Long day, and we got back just in time for my husband to have a quick supper before heading out to Bible Study.

Thus, he was not at home when I discovered, just as night was coming on, sparks and a fire on one of the tall trees on the back property line. Yikes…I called 911, and a fire truck arrived shortly after. Those big guys assessed the situation and called the power company, and waited around til it came, and the man was able to separate the hot wire from the tree. They left and the power guy placed a temporary sleeve over the frayed line.
It was a high power one, too. Now it needs a permanent fix.

I did call my husband so he came early to observe the fun and games. And we never lost power, but others nearby may have…not sure.

    • lysie says:

Honoring our service men and women. What a nice sight to see. We need more of that. 🙂

Well, that fire was a little too much excitement. Yikes.

I’m constantly complaining that our town and utility companies do not mow “their ” property next to ours. Over the years this results in unnecessary trees close to the wires. Years ago they mowed some of the young trees that Greg planted on OUR property about 30 feet from the lines. Now they don’t even mow.

I complained a few years ago and may have to do it again.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Not mowing, then mowing the wrong property…How exasperating!! Yes, this tree, with the large scorched area is definitely marked for taking down. The power company is usually pretty good about keeping up the trimming, but this tree’s trunk just got a little too big.

  2. The Raven says:

Well, IRMA’s path is directly in line with our mobile home in Florida,. If it does, indeed hit with Cat 3 winds, our temporary home will be an insurance claim. We put money into it last year and never increased the insurance values so we lose money. It also looks like it is in line with our TN home as well. Must be global warming.

  3. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  4. The Raven says:

Still early, but the monster looks like it will still hit Miami (Cat 4) and then head up the coast to hit Carolinas (Cat 1). There’s still a chance to head to sea.

    • The Raven says:

In unrelated baseball news, some interesting streaks. Cleveland and Arizona have both won 10 in a row while the formally red hot Dodgers have lost 11 of their last 12 and Miami after sweeping San Diego, has lost 9 of the last 10.

And speaking of the [redacted]’s. A Taco Bell was robbed in Cleveland, but the employees there, don’t mess around.

Investigators say five Taco Bell employees were in the store when the suspects came in wearing masks and ordered them to get on the ground. Three of the employees opened fire, striking the suspect.

      – NY Post Armed Taco Bell workers shoot, kill robbery suspect

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Great story….And the [redacted] are now at 14 in a row……! I am enjoying the good news on at least one front…

    • lysie says:

      Good morning, Rav.

Praying , once again, it heads to sea.

Quite a winning streak the two have.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Thanks Raven And we will see what happens to this highly developed area, like Houston, with this particular hurricane, where it is predicted there will be much less rain…storm surge , yes, close to shore, but inland? Wind, lots of wind damage. But I doubt we will see neighborhood after neighborhood flooded.

  5. The Raven says:

There is one European hurricane predicting model which has the best accuracy record and it is predicting a Miami landfall on Monday. All the other models are to the east of Florida – or grazing the coast. The Canadian model has Irma going to sea and missing everything.

Unfortunately, the above model only runs twice a day…… so the next output is 2:30AM tomorrow. Here’s a graphical output of the model

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  7. The Raven says:

Now, quickly: Name the last transformational conservative change Republicans have made — a change to the field of play; any change that would redound to the detriment of Democrats. It’s pretty tough. That’s despite Republican control of the legislature and the presidency from 2002 to 2006; that’s a longer period of unified control than Democrats had from 2008 to 2010.

    – Ben Shapiro on the ‘Pub’s being “afraid that their carefully crafted tower of electability will come crumbling down [if they] make radical legislative moves”

There is some reason to believe that the FBI was enlisted to support the Hillary Clinton campaign by promoting, and perhaps paying for, the fake Russian dossier. If that is true, it is a major scandal.

    – John Hinderaker, Powerline on recent House actions on Russia/Trump.

  8. lysie says:

DACA’s 6 month delay? Do you think this is an intentional act by Trump to make the Pubs stand for something? If they don’t , come primary time there could be consequences.

  9. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Busy weekend. I hope things slow down a bit.

  10. The Raven says:

a little more permeable surface would have absorbed about 0.02 percent of the deluge, at best. As one fellow put it on Twitter: 24.5 trillion gallons of water — Harvey flooding is not a runoff problem.

    – Jon Cassidy commenting on the left’s blaming the Houston flooding on paving over plants and ground that would have absorbed the water.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Yes, thank you. That area has a lowland “problem” not a development “problem” which combined with the BIG problem of Harvey meant disaster, and you may remember I wrote of it here on the blog ahead of time.

  11. The Raven says:

Wow. I watched Tennessee get trounced in the first half last night, and the beginning of the second half was going the same way. The skeptics had predicted TN would not be able to defend against the Ga Tech offense and they would lose. It was happening.

I got really disappointed and went to bed.

When I got up, I was so convinced they lost, I didn’t even check the score. Then, after a while, I decided to check on what happened.

Some how. Some way, they found a way to win. By one point.

  12. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the new thread , Molly.

    • The Raven says:

      More hate:

Stop saying ‘white privilege’ and start saying ‘white supremacy.’

      – Janaya Khan, co-founder of Black Lives Matter-Toronto

    • Molly Pitcher says:

lysie Thank you and good morning!
      Raven Yikes and good morning!

    • The Raven says:

The left is after Netanyahu. Can you imagine if they looked at the Obama’s expenses?

    • Molly Pitcher says:

That will never happen. How’s the packing going?
I read that 0 is planning a big DACA statement once Trump makes his announcement.

    • The Raven says:

The packing is nearing the end. We have a few pieces of furniture that we were going to take with us, but now they won’t fit. I’m going to donate them to a charity – maybe Habitat – I think they come and pick it up. We now have only the beds and food. And a few things in the shed.

And DACA will stay. Trump will say correctly that Obama’s executive order was unconstitutional and Congress needs to pass DACA to become law. The Deep State will find a Judge to say Trump is unconstituional and DACA is the law of the land. We don’t have a constitutional republic anymore.

    • Jemian says:

Good job. What is it, a week ahead of schedule?

  13. The Raven says:

The Baby Bombers fared better against the Red Sox, than they did last week against the Cleveland [redacted]’s. Seems to be unanimous opinion in the sporting world that the [redacted]’s are the best team in the American league now that Houston is collapsing.

But, tonight at 8PM, our very own TN Vols go against the triple option running game of the rambling wreck of Georgia Tech.

Tough opening game, for sure. We lost our starting linebacker for the season. Argh!!… Plus our defense lost some great seniors. A rookie defense against a tough offense. What will happen? )What’s unfortunate is our team will be practicing full time for an offense they will see only once and time will be wasted.)

In pro football, they have preseason games for warm ups. In college, the first game or two is usually with a no-name team and everybody gets to play (maybe Florida and Texas A&M will disagree – they lost their first one)…..but we have a tough one. A real tough one. The talking heads were favoring GT by double digits. I’m thinking the other way around.

Speaking of Florida, the question I get most often is “Are you going to change allegiance from Tennessee to Florida teams when you move?” How in the world can I root for teams I’ve been rooting against for years? Teams with a stadium called “The Swamp?” Or equivalently, Steve Spurrier Stadium? Teams with fans making alligator motions with their arms? Or the other team in Tallahassie, the team producing trigger warnings as the founding member of the Dixie Conference and the team name, the Florida State [redacted]’s. Nope. Gonna stay a Vols fan. The SEC channel is on cable now. I can get every game.

  14. Jemian says:

73 degrees F. here this morning.
