America the Right Way -Staying Vigilant- January 15, 2018 – January 19, 2018 Remember 9/11

Fox News reports:

“An illegal immigrant on a Greyhound bus who allegedly threatened to shoot and kill passengers on Friday — leading police on a chase from Wisconsin to Illinois — was deported five times, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson told Fox News.”

The man is in police custody, and none of the nearly forty passengers were harmed.

  1. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Delicious lysie . Is Greg out fishing again? Tough guys who can do that!
      It’s suuuuuuunny

    • lysie says:

No fishing today. He caught about 50 perch. He let his cousin have them.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

And Raven….funny story about your taking Hayek to work…WHAT were you thinking?? lol…..

    • tillacum says:

Good morning everyone. Hello to Bitwachacker, good to see you.
It’s still a bit cooler today. No one has been on the golf course for the last few days, only the grounds keeper.

    • Bitwhacker says:

Good afternoon, everyone (and especially you, tillacum)! I hate winter. Just hate it. My best memories about winter were: 1) every time you realize that today is the first day that it’s NOT winter and 2) sneering at my 9-degree, frozen home town from a 85-degree Carribean beach getting sunburned. 🙂

(PSA: This is part of my New Year’s Resolution (aside from resolving not to have NYR’s any more) to try to reconnect after having gone radio silent for such a long time. Please let me know when you’ve had enough and I’ll stop. Not. HA!)

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Never ENOUGH from you Bit, so there…keep that resolution.

I am so angry about a couple or three news stories, but not enough time to write it up. Tomorrow…

  2. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Very good! Thank you lysie….Spring is coming!

    • lysie says:

You are welcome, Molly. It’s minus out and Greg is ice fishing with his cousin. All I can say is me??? No way!

    • The Raven says:

      It is cold here! 31F

    • lysie says:

      I’ll take that cold. 🙂

    • tillacum says:

Thank you, I’ll have that. Thank you. It’s still a bit chilly in central Texas.

    • Bitwhacker says:

Good Morning everyone! It says I haven’t posted anything since October of 2014, that can’t be right, is it? Anyway hope you are all doing well and taking all of this Global Warming in stride. I am good, first time in a long time. 😉

    • lysie says:

Happy New Year , Bit. 🙂

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Hi till… to wrap up and be careful out there. Looks like another storm system is on its way, and it may be warmer, but, also have spring-like violent components.

Raven, did you see this? Hayek’s Enduring Legacy

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Bit, yes , the situation is not all 0bama-ed up anymore…..we were having fun a couple of days ago with making up new naughty words (Raven’s idea). As for global warming, AlGore draws my ire every day. We are having EXTREME global warming in fact.

    • edinva says:

Morning, lysie … omg, ice fishing ? I’d stay home and inside, warm and dry, too!!

Honestly, I really would like to see a government shut down before watching POTUS and the GOP cave to this DACA business. I am so fed up with it, I’m thinking why not send them back? There was a story today about OJ Simpson changing his mind and deciding to stay in LVNV instead of moving to FL. It occurred to me: who worried about breaking up his family when he was sent to jail? Who worried about ANY family being broken up when a criminal parent went to jail? Why are we worried (well, not US) about breaking up families because of parents’ illegal behavior? Do bank robbers kids get to keep the cash when the parent goes to jail? And isn’t his/her family broken up? Do these same Dems cry for military or police families who lose a loved one in the line of duty? I am beyond feeling sympathy.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

I can’t understand it either. And they never seem to be called on their conflating illegal with legal immigration. In their view, there is no such thing as illegal immigration. Do you think if someone broke into their home, they wouldn’t be just a little concerned??

Hope Greg had a good day out on the ice lysie

    • The Raven says:

MP…Thanks for that Hayek link. I once took my “Road to Serfdom” book to work for lunchtime reading. The effect on my liberal coworkers was similar to chasing a vampire with a cross and a stake.

But we can never get rid of the utopia addicts. Sort of a religion. Milton Friedman once said something to the effect that after the fall of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, everyone was now saying that communism was bad and capitalism was good and the lesson learned was what the world needed was more socialism.

  3. The Raven says:

    Las Vegas shooter not alone?

    – Since it isn’t plastered on every front page, it must be Democrats.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

Good morning! You are on a great roll this a.m., and no, I didn’t know about our Justice being impeached….will check my husband’s knowledge too….

    • Molly Pitcher says:

ok…now I read a little further, and I know why I don’t know: it’s not being covered because the Rs are showing some gumption on a Dem’s misconduct!! I do remember when he ran in the Dem primary…that was covered.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

ok, he’s running this year for the other office. This is his last year on the Court as he’s term-limited on the court. But He should resign before he runs…he’s the only Dem on the Court.

  4. The Raven says:

Did you see this? It’s great

    – and in related news,

. This is unconditionally good news for the country, but a setback for non-doctors in the media who have been pronouncing our duly-elected President a “neo-fascist sociopath” or at least a “sick man” who is “not mentally stable.”

    – James Freeman, WSJ after Trump’s in-house doctor reported Tuesday that the President is in excellent health and mentally fit to perform the duties of his office

    • edinva says:

      G’day, Rav, Molly, lysie, all:
There was pretty stiff competition for those Fake News awards. Glad to see Krugman won overall.

Have you all seen the 20 finalists for Amazon #2? Gawd, I hope they stay out of NoVA. Scary, given Bezos now owning the WaPo. All local jurisdictions in the running, DC/MoCo MD/NoVA. Yuk. This area is now so blue, more Amazonians would be the end of any hope. Don’t want them to move to any red or purple areas. Stay true blue, Amazon!
The cities that remain in the running are:
      Atlanta, GA

      Austin, TX

      Boston, MA

      Chicago, IL

      Columbus, OH

      Dallas, TX

      Denver, CO

      Indianapolis, IN

      Los Angeles, CA

      Miami, FL

      Montgomery County, MD

      Nashville, TN

      Newark, NJ

      New York City, NY

      Northern Virginia, VA

      Philadelphia, PA

      Pittsburgh, PA

      Raleigh, NC

      Toronto, ON

      Washington D.C.

    • Molly Pitcher says:

      Krugman…..yes well deserved award!

  5. Molly Pitcher says:

Is there going to be a gov. shutdown?? Markets don’t seem to care now.

  6. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  7. The Raven says:

    Afternoon contest.
We need a liberal term that can be used interchangeably with swear words. Example

    — That news story is a bunch of horse CNN !!

    or maybe

Obama is always WAPOing with the conservatives.

  8. lysie says:

    Good morning everyone.

  9. The Raven says:

    Dems in the News:

“I am a feminist. I study rape culture. And I don’t want Al Franken to resign.”

    – Amanda Prestgiacoma quoting a headline in the Wash Post.

  10. tillacum says:

Hello everyone. I think we’re in for a Texas winter week. Right now the rain is coming down gangbusters. Tomorrow we’re told we’ll have sleet & snow. (??) The weather for central Texas, right now, is winter. I’m loving it, but my hairdresser cancelled our appointment tomorrow. Our favorite little restaurant has promised chili and cornbread tomorrow, well make it . We’re promised more sleet and snow on Thursday (hopefully) Being from the north, I really do look forward to a Texas winter week. It’s never longer than that, except in 1985 and we had TWO whole weeks of winter. Hardly any traffic moved.
For those in “real” winter, stay warm.

  11. edinva says:

G’day everyone … we had that one wonderful, warm day on Friday … even tho it’s now back to cold, it was so nice to have that break even as it was accompanied by rain and showers! We’re back to freezing temps now, not like NYS or Ohio, but cold relative to VA. We’ll survive.

Saturday was DH’s birthday and DD/hub/grand came over to surprise him … I quietly led grand to his office and asked him a Q, so he had to turn around and instead of seeing me, he saw the little angel with his birthday card that she designed. Some might say scribbled. What a great birthday surprise. We had tea, parfait, etc. Just delightful time. Son who still lives in VA came over, too, and after the young family left, he stayed and strummed guitar with dear ol’ dad. So, by his/our standards DH had a perfect birthday. AND, we learned, #2 is going to be another girl!!! I could not be more delighted. So, so happy Zoe will have a little sister. Per testing, she and mother are doing beautifully. *We* are now officially into the 2nd trimester, so mom isn’t so tired any more.

Will anyone miss the SOTU boycotting Congressthings? What has any of them actually ever contributed other than noise? So far it’s mostly black women who’ve done nothing beyond enriching themselves. It’s hard to find any improvements to their constituents’ lives, or the quality of life in their Congressional Districts. But those constituents will continue to vote them into office so it’s hard to sympathize. This will be fun for me as I have boycotted the previous 8 SOTUs.

    Stay warm and well,

  12. lysie says:

Good morning everyone. Another frigid morning.

  13. The Raven says:

There are thousands and thousands like that guy on the bus.
