America The Right Way-Staying Vigilant – August 3 , 2019 – August 4 , 2019 Remember 9/11 Weekend -Edition

Where there is a will, there is a way. Congratulations.

A jobless man took to the street to hand out his resume.

Patrick Hoagland said , “I had been searching for a job online, filling out applications and sending companies my resume. I was also stopping at local businesses handing my resume out. After not getting responses I decided I needed to do something different. The idea of standing on a corner holding a sign popped in my head. I at first laughed and thought that was silly, but I kept thinking about it. I figured, why not?! There are millions of people in Phoenix driving around, someone might hire me. So I printed out a whole bunch of resumes and hit the streets. I was offered a bunch of positions, probably almost a hundred. I narrowed it down to this one and one more with a rigging company.”

I have Beethoven’s Piano Concerto 5 playing over and over in my head. What causes that? The refrain starting about 1:42

Good morning and thanks for breakfast, lysie!

I just saw an interview on F&F with Patrick Hoagland, the woman who posted his resume on line, and the woman who hired him … truly heart-warming story. And wonderful how those women stepped in and recognized his ambition and creativity, and did something about it.

And speaking of nice, heart-warming stories. One of my sons teaches in Arlington County (VA), so to make ends meet over the summer is doing Grub Hub deliveries. Last Sunday he planned to come here to have dinner with Dear Old Mom but called and explained that Sundays are the end of their payroll period for the Thursday paycheck, and he had to make a few more $$$ for his first of month payments, could we reschedule? Of course! So he took on several deliveries and one of the customers gave him a $600 tip!!!! I’ve never been so happy to be “stood up!’ You read about those big tips from time to time, but other than once when my other son was given a $200 tip as a server, never knew anyone personally to get one.

Did you all see the new Ben & Jerry’s “Bernie” ice cream ? Ben (or Jerry), ever clever, showed how the container has all the “good stuff” on top and it’s up to the purchaser to spread it around through the carton, in essence “sharing the wealth.” They promote their agenda in every way possible!

Decent weekend on tap here … cooler temps and probably rain. Beats 100+ degrees. Today I’m going to a farewell party for a couple who’s moving to FL, leaving their home of @ 40 yeas. Can’t blame them for moving … they’ll be near the grands in St Augustine, and the home is in Arlington (VA) where Amazon is coming soon and has shot real estate out of orbit, so they did well on the sale of their home.

Hope all of you are doing well and anticipating a lovely weekend ahead!!
